Chapter 415 One Versus Seven
"Yawn... G-Good day, ladies and gentlemen! Allow me to introduce myself once more. I'm Corey, your emergency commentator for today! Please excuse my appearance—I had no idea a sudden event would be happening at the arena." Corey exclaimed with as much energy as he could muster, despite having woken up just fifteen minutes ago.
He was having the best dream of his life—a wild one where he finally bedded the woman of his dreams when suddenly, he was urgently woken up by one of the city lord's aides.
A tragic end to a mythical, once-in-a-millenium dream.
Honestly speaking, Corey initially didn't harbor any positive feelings towards this event; however, upon realizing how spicy it was, his passion immediately erased the negative feelings in his heart.
His respect for Shye Crowley only burgeoned.
This event might be short, but it would surely affect Balkrow City's reputation, proven by the fact that the city lord hastily made arrangements to make the event as huge as possible.
It seemed that City Lord Felix trusted his city's rookie representative very much, favoring his victory despite facing seasoned veterans from other cities.
Naturally, Shye was pleasantly surprised upon finding out that Corey, Balkrow's official commentator, would be hosting the makeshift event he asked one of his overly enthusiastic guildmates to organize.
He truly appreciated City Lord Felix's full support.
Meanwhile, the party from Krevar City couldn't help but feel uneasy inside their assigned preparation room upon realizing that even Balkrow City's official commentator had been summoned to host what was supposed to be an event that would make both the city's citizens and adventurers anxious, blowing it up to the point of becoming a short city event.
Dodge had even resolved to fight the top-ranked adventurer of Balkrow, Leon Gray, after easily defeating Shye, expecting the man to be summoned to retrieve even a bit of the city's reputation after his party decimated it to pieces.
Hence, Balkrow City's actions truly gnawed at their nerves.n/ô/vel/b//in dot c//om
It was as though the city lord fully believed that Shye, despite being a rookie, would win against them.
High and mighty as he was, Dodge dared not underestimate the wits of those appointed as city lords by the World Adventurer Association.
This indicated one thing clearly: there was more to Shye Crowley than meets the eye.
Realizing that he and his party members now felt nervous, Dodge promptly stood up and gave them a little pep talk:
"Heh, look at these idiots, believing that some upstart would beat us. Imagining myself in his situation, there's no way in hell I would be able to win so how could some rookie pull such a miracle off? Even if he's actually slightly stronger than me, which should be impossible, he still wouldn't be able to win!"
Hearing their party leader's words, confidence returned in the hearts of the Krevar City adventurers.
Indeed, even if the loathsome Shye Crowley was slightly stronger than them individually, which was already highly unlikely since he was but a mere first-year rookie, he would still not be able to win against seven of them at the same time.
A rookie being way stronger than them? Hahahahaha! Laughable!...right?
"Everyone from Krevar, it's time for the match." A Balkrow Arena staff said promptly after opening the preparation room's door.
Exiting the preparation room under the arena employee's lead, the cohort from Krevar City arrived at the stage area, where the flames of rage once again burned in their hearts.
The damned arena event organizer even dared to set up introductions wherein they would be the ones who will be introduced first, making them appear as though they were insignificant challengers when they were the seasoned veterans.
They were simply being disrespected!
However, what could they do? They were away from their city, and they had no choice but to go through with whatever Balkrow's arrangements were.
'Just you wait, you bastards…I'll ruthlessly humiliate your city today!' Dodge inwardly fumed while feigning a calm and confident exterior.
Unfortunately, it appeared the entire city was determined to infuriate them, with even the crowd jeering as they ascended the stage.
What made them utterly hate the entire city was the fact that the event organizer gave the crowd ample time to continue with their jeers.
"What utter bias!" Dodge finally couldn't help but exclaim in indignation. If he had the strength and option to, he would definitely raze the hateful city to the ground.
A few moments later, their opponent was finally introduced…in the most annoying way possible.
"Ascending from the left side of the stage, Balkrow's rookie representative and the one who rightfully cleared the (A-) ranked Polva Mana Dungeon, a dungeon that not even the Krevar City adventurers were able to conquer, let us all welcome, Shye Crowley from Raven's Blade Adventurer Guild!!"
The bastard was even waving at the crowd, sporting a wide smile that betrayed no hint of nervousness.
'You fucking arrogant twerp…we'll show you…'
Their chest was about to explode in utter frustration; fortunately, Corey didn't make them wait any longer.
"Now, let the one-versus-seven match begin!"

Promptly after the match began, a realm of purple and black swords erupted from beneath Shye's feet, rapidly extending and engulfing both him and the Krevar Seven.
Shortly after, rotten, blackish-transparent mana wings emerged from his back followed by a blood-curdling howl resembling those of ancient demons, sending shivers down the spine of the Krevar City's adventurers.
"D-Dodge, I can't use my mana!"
"Me too! What in the world is this skill?!"
While Dodge's party members were panicking, the crowd watched the match unfold with a dumbstruck expression as a single thought resonated in their minds:
'Why the fuck was the battle format a one-versus-seven?!'
They at least hoped for an explanation; however, they didn't want to miss the action.
Thus, they temporarily set aside the questions in their heart and focused on watching the match.
"Everyone, stay calm! There are seven of us and only one of him. I believe he can't use mana inside the purple realm, so this is a perfect opportunity to train your subclasses. Draw your melee weapons, and let's attack him together!"
