Chapter 300The Seal [1]
"Serious, can they at least wait until I'm out of hearing range to start shit-talking me!?"
Grinding his teeth against each other, Ren sighed and glanced at Raven and Zeng in front of him.
Touching the sword in his sheath, Zeng confusedly looked around before asking.
"Boss...you're sure that a doomsday button is here of all places...?"
Nodding his head in agreement, Raven continued.
"We rushed and sprinted to put on clothes and get in here, but now we're just standing around and doing a whole lot of nothing."
Unable to refute their argument, Ren sighed and glanced around.
Everybody was in the vault...right?
That was what the owner of that unknown voice earlier wanted, wasn't it?
So, then, why wasn't he doing anything!?
Shaking his read, Ren attempted to discern if there was another intention that the unknown voice had.
"maybe he's just a deranged maniac?"
Looking down at Raven and Zeng, Ren cleared his throat before asking.
"You two heard that voice from earlier, right?"
As the two nodded their heads, Ren questioned.
"What do you make of it?"
Shrugging his shoulders, Raven glanced around before saying.
"Seems pretty stupid to me. If that voice guy wanted to rob the vault and get that doomsday button, why did he reveal himself to everyone? He could have just slipped in without anyone noticing."
Holding back the words, "Great minds think alike," Ren glanced at Zeng, who seemed to be contemplating.
After a moment of thought, Zeng looked up from the ground and said.
"Could it be a distraction? I mean, everybody in this room, including the people over there and us, are talking about it."
"Maybe there's some more important thing that we're just ignoring because of the voice."
It was true...everyone was focused on the owner of the voice and protecting the vault.
Scratching his head, Ren asked Zeng.
"A distraction for what though?"
Seeing Zeng shrug his shoulders, Ren turned back around to see if the main cast and two recruiters were finished discussing.
All of them were still huddled up and talking except Lily, who was waiting by the seal.
While the seal was important as it was the only thing holding back the mystical beast inside the vault, protecting it was useless.
Instead, protection needed to be given to the shelves and various magic artifacts that gave power to the seal.
After a couple of seconds, the huddle between them finally dispersed as Alya and Astrid headed over to Lily while the others walked toward Ren, Raven, and Zeng.
Readying himself, Ren gestured for the two boys to resume their acting and patiently waited, letting the main cast and recruiters come to him.
"PUT THE HAMMER DOWN RAVEN!"
Smiling, Raven put down the magical artifact he was playing with while Zeng stopped leaning downwards and stood up straight.
At the front of the group were Liam, Kevin, and the other two recruiters, with Zach, Irene and Ruby at the back
Glancing upwards, Ren expected the unknown voice to suddenly sound again as everyone was talking again, but the room stayed silent.Nôv(el)B\\jnn
Nodding his head, Ren wore a gracious smile as he beckoned the main cast in front of him to speak.
In a clearly less friendly voice and expression, Kaneki stepped forward and said.
"I'm sure, as implied by that unknown voice earlier, there is an unknown presence in this vault that needs to be exterminated."
Nodding, Ren smiled and replied.
"Indeed, that is the conclusion that the three of us have come to as well. However, we are yet to create a plan to do so."
Glancing at Zeng with an odd expression, Kaneki hesitated before replying.
"Alright...since we've already come up with a plan, I believe it would be beneficial for the two of us to work together instead of using different plans and complicating things in an already confusing situation.
Once again, nodding his read, Ren raised a single finger before saying. Experience tales at empire
"Would you giveme a moment to discuss this with my partners?"
Seeing Kaneki nod his head, Ren gestured for the two boys to come closer before pulling them into a huddle.
Zeng, full of energy and eager to start discussing, immediately brightened up and asked.
"So, what are we doing, boss? Teaming up them...or going solo, just like the good old days. Just the three of us against the entire world!"
"..."
Seeing Raven about to break into laughter, Ren immediately pinched him before... also pinching himself to stop the laughter from coming out of his mouth.
After hesitating for a moment, Ren said.
"We're working with them."
Seeing Zeng nod his head and about to pull away from the huddle, Ren immediately grasped his shoulder and halted him.
"Let's pretend to talk for a couple more minutes. We can't seem like easy to get, or else, we'll be turned into pawns."
Keeping a completely serious expression, Raven said.
"Yeah, fuck protecting the doomsday button that could destroy the entire world. It's more important that we seemed cool and hard to get to a bunch of teenagers who could give less of a shit about us."
Nodding his head, Ren also assumed an entirely serious expression as he tapped Raven on the shoulder and replied.
"See, he gets it!"
"..."
Seeing Zeng and Raven silent, Ren opened his mouth and started talking, but no sounds came out.
"..."
However, to the main cast, Astrid, Kazuki, and Kaneki, who were out of hearing distance, it looked like Ren was seriously talking.
Immediately grasping Ren's intention, Raven started silently singing the lyrics to Astrid's song from earlier.
"..."
Zeng, honestly not knowing what the hell was going on, just started aggressively opening and closing his mouth.

Staring at the scene of the three soldiers aggressively discussing, Zach awkwardly scratched his head before saying,
"Man...that must be a heated debate over there."
Touching the bottom of his chin, Kazuki, also interested, stared at the discussion amongst the reinforcements.
"Must be a hard decision for them, you know."
