The Strongest Assassin Reincarnates in Another World

Chapter 378 - Goodbyes

Aiden gritted his teeth as he knew that the person who was currently speaking to him through the system was right. That was actually the case.

He remembered the first trial where there had been a timer that forced him to enter the trials.

He decided to shut his mouth as he didn't want to say something that he would surely regret in the future.

[Happy that you understand, now good luck in your future trials Aiden. We'll be watching carefully.]

Aiden was clearly mad as he hit the white ground which didn't leave the slightest mark.

"I'm just a fucking slave to them. A good little dog that they can use to entertain themselves, huh?"

Aiden was getting tired of getting exploited, however, he knew that he couldn't do anything right now. It would need some time, but he would still do it. He would make sure that they would pay.

This time, the system didn't say anything as it seemed to have gone into some sort of silent radio.

"Where can I even put those boxes…" Aiden muttered as he remembered that he had never received the inventory that Maelis had promised him, right before he went into training.

The system didn't answer him this time, it seemed that it wasn't even listening to him anymore. Even if that was probably still the case, it was surely only an illusion. Aiden was sure of it.

"Ah fuck it, they'll appear right beside me inside the Emberbane Territory, it's not like there's a safer place than there."

It was a founding family territory, there would be no other place as safe as it.

Aiden had now checked all the rewards that he had received, and from what he had seen… he was extremely disappointed. All his hopes were in that [Random Portal] thingy, and in the [System Upgrade], the rest of the rewards were underwhelming, to say the least.

However, it was now time for Aiden to go back to the Emberbane Territory as he asked the system to bring him back there.

He slowly starts to disappear from the reward rooms, his vision getting blurry. An instant later, he was inside his dorm, the one that he was supposed to share with Isolde.

"I wonder what happened to her…"

The green and gray boxes obviously appeared with him which completely filled the room from top to bottom.

"Did Isolde go back to her home?"

He didn't remember the exact duration of her training session with Melinda. However, he hoped that she was gone since he would be able to get this room for himself, which was something that he deeply wanted.

"I guess I'll just the boxes here, and go find Melinda."

As he was about to head out of the room to go search for her. Aiden had a weird thought.

He had spent so much time in that Magic World, that the memories from this world were really fuzzy, he didn't even remember if he had been in this room when going inside the trial.

'I don't think I was, but I'm not sure… Why didn't I appear at the exact same spot that I left… that's what usually happens, no?' Aiden thought.

Aiden didn't bother too much about that information because he had a lot more important thoughts on his mind.

He wanted to meet Emma and Melinda once again. He wanted to make sure that they knew what happened over there in that world.

He knew that it had taken a really long time for him to come back and he hoped that they hadn't forgotten about him.

That's why he immediately left his room, swinging the door wide open. The gift boxes that were inside almost came out of the room. However, Aiden was quick enough to close it without anything leaking out of it.

Shortly after, he was walking down the hallway had quite a ridiculous pace. He was trying to remember where Melinda's office was in this giant place. However, he didn't remember it at all.

He had no choice but to ask some people on the way there. He was trying to find someone quite knowledgeable about this place, someone who knew what they were doing, and luckily for him. It didn't take a lot of time to do that as Aiden spotted two maids currently waiting in front of a door.

'I really missed that view…' Aiden thought when he saw the maids' uniform.

He didn't remember that the maids in this world were that beautiful, but now he did. And he was somewhat mindblown. However, it clearly wasn't the time to be thinking about such useless things.Nôv(el)B\\jnn

"Hey, um, I'm sorry. But would one of you know the direction of the head's office?"

Aiden made sure to be polite with the two of them and Melinda as he knew that not many people would be calling her that way.

The two maids looked at one another, confused. Still, they responded since that was their duty.

"And you are?"

They couldn't such information on everyone that was roaming in the territory, it was important to know the identity of the person in front of them.

"Aiden Nig-, Aiden… just Aiden."

It had been so long that he had almost said his full name which would have been a grave mistake.

"Aiden? No last name?"

The two maids were even more confused as they would have no idea if he hadn't given them a little bit more details about his identity.

"Yes, exactly, there's none. So can you help me or not?"

Aiden was getting tired of this back-and-forth since he wanted to see Melinda as fast as possible to indicate that he was back.

"Sure, we can help you… Aiden."

They seemed worried that the person in front of them was lying which is why they slowly guided him toward a place that would identify the person in front of them.

With the recent attempts at entering the Emberbane Territory, Melinda had no choice but to upgrade the security that was around which is why she had created something like this.

"And, where are we?"

The maids were now sure that the man in front of them had been away for a long time, or had never set a single foot inside this territory.

"The family members' database… obviously."

Aiden heard that last word even if it had been pronounced with a really quiet tone, and he quickly understood that the maids in front of him were not even believing him at the moment.

"Place your hand here, that way we'll know if you really are part of the Emberbane Family."

The two maids already had a smile on their faces as they knew that such a thing wasn't possible whatsoever which made them enjoy this moment even more.

Aiden listened to them and placed his hand right away, unsure why he had to go through all this procedure, especially when everything had been going well before he left.

'Did something happen while I was gone?' Aiden thought, unsure as he looked at his surroundings and noticed that there was literally no one walking in the hallways which was very weird considering the size of this place.

A few moments after he put his hands, there was a beeping sound which made Aiden completely distracted from his earlier thoughts, disregarding them as a whole.

"Oh, you were actually part of this family. Alright, follow us we'll guide you toward the head's chamber."

The two maids completely changed their attitude and started to respect, just like normal maids would. Aiden was surprised by this change in personality, but he still kept his mouth shut and kept following them as he wanted to reach that office as fast as possible. That's why he had come out of his room after all.

A few minutes later, Aiden was in front of a closed door, and the maids had just told him that it was Melinda's office.

He had already knocked on the door, and Aiden was now waiting for it to open. It had only been a few seconds since he had knocked, and Aiden knew that she was probably busy which is why he waited patiently, not making the slightest.

There was a chance that she was in a room with someone very important which is why he waited.

The maids were also waiting with him, making sure that he wouldn't be going anywhere else.

"Hey, I have a question. I'm not sure if you can answer…"

The two maids once again looked at one another, and nodded, indicating that he could ask whatever question that he wanted.

"Then, I'll go right ahead… Can you tell me what happened around here? Why is there no movement whatsoever? There's no one in the hallways and the only people that I found were you two."

"Well, that's obviously because of the Reaper and the attempt to assassinate him."

They replied as if it was the most obvious thing in the world. However, this was all new information for Aiden.

But then right as he was about to answer, he realized something. Something really important… he had forgotten to put on his mask.

Aiden kept his calm as he thought of this as he knew that there was no way that the girls knew about his real identity. In fact, Aiden continued asking questions as he knew that if he started acting weird, it would probably cause some problems with the maids. They would know that something was wrong.

'How could I be so fucking stupid?!'
