Chapter 371 370: Preparation
371 370: Preparation
After the announcement of the Battle of Chosens rang out of the U-Watch of every Underworld prisoner, the Underworld became gripped with several emotions; Anxiety, Fear, Hope, and Joy,.
It was similar to when The Clown decided to replace the Amphitheatre games with The Clown Games.
However, despite the similarity, there was a huge difference in the reactions, feelings and emotions of the Underworld prisoners. The reason for this was simple,
Freedom.
No matter how slim. No matter how minute. No matter how little. There was an opportunity for them to regain a modicum of their freedom.
Although the majority knew that they would most likely become slaves if they were chosen by the outside forces, and that there was a possibility of their future master maltreating them... What could they do?
It was either they stayed in the Underworld for the rest of their lives or they took the opportunity to leave the Underworld and see the real sky and the sun.
Some had not even seen the outside world, and to some - especially kids, the outside world was a myth to them.
Because of this, the majority of the Underworld prisoners had no choice but to look forward to the Battle of Chosens with hope in their hearts.
Hope is the sweetest, most alluring, and one of the deadliest poisons one would willingly choose to consume.
Meanwhile, while the majority of the Underworld was caught in a frenzy due to the sudden announcement of the Battle of Chosens, Divine, Corey, and the rest of the group were stunned and mostly worried.
Most especially Divine.
Divine never expected the Battle of Chosens to take place in such a short time, and he could not help but curse at Calista, the Lord of the Central Area, and every other person who was in charge of the Underworld.
Divine knew that having the Battle of Chosens early was advantageous for him since that meant he would only have to worry about getting ambushed or attacked by random attackers for a week.
However, Divine also hated the fact that the Battle of Chosens was occurring in a week.
Divine needed time to properly prepare for his fight against a tier 5, and a week was not enough for him at all.
He needed at least two weeks to be properly prepared, and this was assuming all went well. Assuming he had all his wealth and resources, a week was more than enough for him to be properly prepared.
However, he was currently a poor man.
Divine lamented and cursed all the leaders of the Underworld for a long time before he eventually stopped. After he stopped, he told everybody in the group to rest, protect themselves, and prepare thoroughly for the Battle of Chosens.
Divine's specific words were; "The True Chosens are regarded as geniuses and monsters. Do not take them lightly or you'll die before you know it."
After saying these words, the group discussed a little bit on some other things, and then they went to the Inner area to purchase their houses. n/ô/vel/b//in dot c//om
It might seem like a good idea to live and stay low-key in the Outer Area until the day of the Battle of Chosens, however, after much consideration, the group decided not to live in the Outer Area for several reasons that were listed by Divine.
For example, the lack of resources, the lack of security, and the lack of credible information in the Outer Area.
Although they could buy resources from the Underworld Emporium, Divine told them that there were some things that one would not be able to find and buy in the Underworld Emporium or the Outer Area but would be able to find in the right and hidden places in the Inner Area of the Underworld.
As for security, although it might seem like a useless and pointless factor to consider since there was a possibility they would be attacked by multiple mystic beings in the Inner Area, Divine told them that the laws of the Inner Area were much stricter compared to the Outer Area which barely had any laws,
The main reason that Divine wanted them to move into the Inner Area despite the risk was due to the lack of credible information in the Outer Area. According to Divine, there were very few credible sources of information in the Outer Area, and if they wanted to at least have an inkling of any surprises that could happen in the Battle of Chosens, they needed credible information that could be gotten in the Inner Area of the City of Sin.
Also, Divine told them that the houses in the Outer Area were small and would not be really suitable for them to train.
All of these were enough for the group to choose to live in the Inner Area, and they bought their personal houses- except for Divine. Even though he wanted to, none of them had the peace of mind to leave Divine alone.
If they did and Divine ended up dead or he ended up breaking the rule that was imposed on him, their chances of escaping the Underworld would be close to nil.
Although they could choose to live in the same house, they decided not to since it would be extremely uncomfortable for each of them.
Instead, what they chose to do was for each of them to buy a house close to where Divine was planning on staying- which was obviously in Corey's house.
Despite complaining and arguing about where Divine should sleep, the group did not go back on their decisions and chose to leave Divine to Corey. Much to Corey's immense displeasure.
Corey tried to use the fact that apart from Kiefer, his young gardener butler, he was the person with the lowest tier. However, despite using this argument, none of them relented at all.
Corey was stuck with Divine as his temporary roommate.
Speaking of roommates, Corey suddenly remembered Justin, his roommate in the Outer Area. He had not seen him for a long time, and Corey guessed that Justin was dead.
If he was, he did not care. If he wasn't, he still did not care.
Moving away from Justin, time went by.
Before the day of the Battle of the Chosen, Corey decided to increase his battle prowess as much as possible.
He absorbed as many elemental stones as possible, actively trained his skills in the training room of his house, and he also recorded all the books in the library of the Inner Area to get more knowledge.
When Corey attempted to enter the library of the Inner Area, he was stopped and if not because of the pass he got from Rosa, Fatty Black Bonez, and his master, he would not have been able to enter the Inner Library at all due to his low tier.
In fact, if not because of his affiliation with the group, he was not qualified to step foot into the Inner Area at all.
And Corey knew that he was extremely lucky to have been scouted and approached by Divine when he first entered the Underworld, or else it would have taken him a much longer time to reach where he currently was.
After recording every single book, scroll, and object that stored information in the library of the Inner Area, the information in his library of records expanded by a large degree, and as his stars of consciousness went through everything he recorded with immense fervor and desire. And on the day before the Battle of Chosens, Corey's stars of consciousness came across a very interesting piece of information.
The History of their world… The History of New Earth.
When Corey's stars of consciousness found a book that contained a part of the history of New Earth, Corey delved into the book without hesitation.
Unfortunately, the information in the book was not complete at all, and Corey knew that he had to go to the Library of the Central Area to get the complete version.
However, he had a feeling it would not be so easy for him when it came to the library of the Central Area. Although, no matter how difficult it became, he was not going to be deterred.
Despite Corey's immense urge to complete this interesting piece of information he found, he was not able to since the day of the Battle of Chosens had arrived.
