Chapter 2401: Meeting
Chapter 2401: Meeting
Sam didn't halt or reduce his speed. He went just as fast even though he sensed the incoming threat.
The only change he did was to extend his hand and turn the wind sharper.
*SLASH*
Sam cut through the incoming object and went past it. The object which turned out to be a living creature split into two. Brown colored sludge fell all over the place and wherever it fell, the vegetation in that place, hungrily absorbed it.
Sam came to a stop and looked at the creature.
It is an ape. But it didn't look like any other ape Sam has seen. There are several patches on the ape's body covered with rocks and stones. They seemed like they protruded out of the ape's body. Sam guessed what this is.
A lackey of land abomination.
And judging from the lack of presence of any other lackeys around, it is a free-lackey.
At least that is what it is based on the description given by Triala.
Before Sam started his journey, even though he didn't get the full information about lackeys and abominations from Triala, she gave her a gist.
Basically, for every abomination there are two types of lackeys. One is a community-lackey or a group-lackey.
They are created to be a squad and they are often found only in groups. Similar to the group of water-abomination lackeys Sam encountered in the sea.
More often than not, these lackeys are created from a single type of creature. A group of humans, a group of wolves, a group of sharks, etc.
These group lackeys have leaders and commanders of sort. However, even Triala said she doesn't know how the abominations create these commanders.
As for free-lackeys, these are a bit special. They are still infected by the genes and they are still prone to listen to the commands of the abominations. However, they are often very special and couldn't be controlled or be assigned to group-lackeys.
For example, the Sharks Sam encountered first are easier to control so even though they are group lackeys they are combined with water-lackeys made of humans.
But there are some, particularly like this ape, that are just left alone. They just roam around on their own and target anyone that doesn't have the genes of the abominations.
Sam collected the body of the ape and continued his journey. Most of the creatures are still easy for him to deal with. Similar encounters happened throughout the rest of the journey to Triala's settlement.
While Sam is busy travelling, Naila is busy building, Triala is busy waiting, the four settlement leaders are also busy having a meeting of their own.
"Where is Triala, why hasn't she joined yet?" Ronx asked impatiently. Brin, Neo and Mac didn't reply to him.
They just shut their mouths and waited.
Ronx grew increasingly impatient with every passing second and yelled.
"FUCK IT.
It has been an hour, since the predetermined meeting time. Why is that bitch not showing up?"
Ronx yelled and cut the communication off.
After a couple of minutes, the communication set up in Triala's settlement started giving an alert. Triala can see who is trying to contact her. Seeing Ronx's identifier, she didn't want to talk to him and just cut it off.
But that guy is persistent like a toxic ex-boyfriend.
She had to finally pick it up.
"Ronx, I know that your mother failed a teaching you somethings because of your
extraordinarily thick skull, so let me teach you something.
Multiple times-calls cut-other person-no want to talk.
Did you understand now?"
Triala made exaggerated gestures as she activated her cave-person language. Ronx got so angry, he crushed the chair he was sitting in.
When Triala was about to cut the communication off, Ronx said.
"You made a deal with that bastard haven't you?"
Triala didn't say anything.
"You will regret it."
With that Ronx cut the call and went back to the virtual meeting with other settlement leaders.n/o/vel/b//in dot c//om
"She has made a deal with that Bastard. She is not working with the rest of the settlements. From now on, she and her settlements are the traitors of humanity."
Ronx boldly declared. But the other three just sighed. Because mostly these words are worth nothing. Even if they are branded as the traitors, what use is there? They cannot directly interact with each other. They can barely survive with enduring repeated attacks from the abominations.
Whatever Ronx said are just words, coming out of a man who is playing the king of an empty kingdom.
After they stayed silent for a while and let Ronx vent his useless anger, he finally had something of substance to say.
"From what Naila said, there are some other people that came from the same place as that Bastard. He explicitly said that we cannot cooperate with him.
I also noticed some activity few miles away from my territory. It seems like some of those people have landed in the red zone and they seem to be moving towards my territory.
I want you guys to do a recon and find if there are any people nearby. Even if you find any changes in your territories, report it to me.
If this bastard from the other world can have so many good things on him, there is no reason for us to not believe that others won't have them.
Since Naila and that bitch Triala made a deal with h we can just make a deal with these
other people.
Right now, what we lack is the ability to make a move and expand our territories. Whenever us or the elders make a move, the abomination's generals are appearing. So, if these people are really strong, we can use them as pawns to move our territory further.
Who knows, maybe we can combine our four territories."
The others just stayed put as they saw Ronx getting lost in his own dreams.
They all collectively sighed in exhaustion. The reason Ronx became a defacto leader is because this guy had the highest territory in his hands, which means he also had the highest
force.
There are some powerful teams under him that could dare to travel between territories.
These remaining three settlements are closest to Ronx's territory. Unlike Naila's settlement, they are not actually in a deadlock with abominations. They are being actively attacked and their territory is being lost with every passing month.
So, they need Ronx to provide reinforcements in case of emergencies.
That is why, they followed suit when Sam and Ronx fell out.
After some more nonsense, Ronx ended the meeting with no definite path or purpose. The remaining three still stayed. Among them, Mac sighed and said.
"Neo, keep an eye on Triala's activity. If what Ronx said is true, then she might show some progress in the surroundings. If it really works out well for her, maybe we can think for
ourselves."
Neo agreed and they dropped off as well.
Time passed.
Soon, Sam managed to arrive the settlement. When he was approaching the city wall, several
people flew over and aimed their weapons at him.
"Halt. Identify yourself. Who are you?" The other party is extremely vigilant and Sam could guess why. His body is covered in that brown sludge. Which seemed to be the blood of land abominations. And along with that, there is a large mass floating behind him.
It is a wolf type beast. But there are several stones and leaves protruding out of various parts of its body. And its fur had a faint golden patterns here and there.
This wolf is still breathing, but it is coiled into a ball bound by Sam's energy as he carried it
over.
He tried to forcefully throw it into his divine dimension, but he couldn't. Unlike the earth worm, this wolf had a very strong mental resistance.
And he wanted to keep it alive. So, he just brought it with him.
"Call Triala. She said she will be waiting for me here."
Sam spoke directly. As for weapons.... He didn't care at all. What a joke. These are all in Initial
stage of Initiation. If the word spreads in academy realm that a bunch of first grade level cultivators tried to attack Sam, they would be branded as fools.
"Identify yourself first."
The guards didn't backdown.
Sam sighed and yelled out loud.
"TRIALA"
His voice amplified with spiritual energy, immediately shook the city and the surrounding
forests. Hurriedly, several people shot out of the city and came to entrance and at the center
of them all, stood Triala.
"I told you to wait at the entrance by midnight."
Sam said while panting. He dropped the wolf on the ground and landed beside it.
With a wave of his hand, a wave of water conjured up and covered him completely, removing
all the dirt and grime. Then the temperature rose, evaporating the rest of the water on his skin. He is as good as new, at least for appearances.
But he expended a shit ton of energy and he took out a liquid capsule as well as some wine to
immediately replenish himself.
"Can we talk?"
