Chapter 362 The City Lord Threat - Part 1
Inside the luxurious city lord's mansion, the city lord sat behind an old wooden table with a solemn expression on his face.
He had received the response from the leader of the Celestial Heavenly Store, and he was not pleased at all.
He was the city lord of Dongping City; how dare a mere leader of a newly opened store keep him waiting?
Though furious, he did not act rashly when he remembered the superior technique in the store's hands.
As the city lord, he was the strongest martial artist in the city, and he wouldn't allow another person to overshadow him.
Dropping the scroll in his hand, he stared at the open window, and his calm expression turned sinister.
"I hope they know what is best for them…else…" he muttered, a sharp glint flashing across his face.
Slowly, his expression returned to normal as he continued to read the pile of scrolls submitted before him.
Meanwhile, inside the Wei Clan's main hall, a group sat with pensive expressions on their faces.
"How could the ambush fail?" A middle-aged man with a deep scar on his left cheek demanded in shock.
Everyone inside the hall shared a pensive expression, unable to comprehend how an ordinary person could defeat a group of Second-Rate Martial Artists.
"I told you, these men are far from ordinary," the Wei Patriarch muttered, shaking his head.
He had been reluctant to support this alliance, but the rising chaos in and around the city made it impossible for him to refuse.
As much as he wanted to keep his clan safe, he knew he had to get his hands on such a powerful technique.
The threat from the Necoris was growing with every passing moment, and this was not the time to be indecisive.
Even though he was appreciative of Su Yen and his men for saving his daughter, compared to the threat to his clansmen, he decided to prioritize the latter.
Now that all cordiality had been shed, there was no going back. With their strength and alliance, he believed it was only a matter of time before they subdued Su Yen and his men.
So he thought.
Right then, a middle-aged woman said, "I heard he was summoned by the city lord."
"Hmm... what do you expect? Do you think the city lord will sit idly by and let the grasp of power slip from his grip?" another man responded.
"What we should be thinking about is how to prevent the city lord from getting his hands on the superior technique," the man with the deep scar replied.
"Since force didn't work, why don't we negotiate with them?" the middle-aged woman suggested, looking at the men around her.
"Negotiate? Why would they negotiate with us after we assaulted their leader?" the Wei Patriarch asked.

Everyone turned to the woman, eager to hear her explanation.
Feeling their gaze, the woman remained unperturbed and responded.
"We all know what the store wants. Why don't we negotiate with them in that aspect?" she began slowly.n/o/vel/b//in dot c//om
She might not be as powerful as the three men, but her wit and cunningness were unparalleled.
With her wit and cunningness, she had brought her clan from being an ordinary clan to becoming the top clan in just a few years, which shocked everyone.
Besides, every one of her enemies in the past had mysteriously died without a trace.
With her wit and cunningness, her clan became a renowned force in the city.
Thus, none of the people present in the hall dared to underestimate her.
She looked at the serious expressions on the faces of the various clan leaders, and a look of pride flashed through her eyes, though she quickly concealed it.
"They're mining the Flaonium and Plathil ores, which are useless to us. Still, I believe each of us has a large stock of these ores, and if we give them a portion of the Flaonium and Plathil, they won't hesitate to give us the superior technique."
When the men heard her plan, they sucked in a cold breath and looked at each other.
They realized she had already devised a plan before coming to the meeting and was just waiting for the right moment.
"Since you have a plan, you must also have a person in mind who will negotiate with the store, right?" the scarred middle-aged man asked.
"Yes." She nodded with a light smile. "You don't have to worry. I promise to give you a satisfactory response."
In the western part of the city, a lone mansion stood at the edge of the street, and a powerful aura erupted from the mansion.
Sitting in midair, Su Yen's aura overflowed, and a strong wind gusted around him.
He had been cultivating non-stop since he arrived at the Magma Plain, and now, he finally saw some results.
His cultivation had broken through from Early Stage Nascent Soul to Intermediate Nascent Soul Stage 6, advancing three sub-stages in a row.
Even though there wasn't any immediate threat to his life in the Magma Plain, he knew his strength was still far from enough.
When he remembered the Ancient Battlefield and the strange beings dwelling in it, he realized that to unearth the secrets of the Ancient Battlefield, he needed to have sufficient strength.
Additionally, he was preparing for his return to the barren land.
Thus, he set a goal for himself: before returning, he needed to reach the Saint Realm.
Just as he was consolidating his breakthrough, he sensed a presence standing outside his courtyard.
He raised his head and said in a low voice, "Come in."
When Zimo heard this, he sucked in a cold breath and entered without daring to raise his head.
Falling to both knees, he paid his respects and quickly reported what had happened in the past day to Su Yen.
When Su Yen heard about the two strange ores, a look of anticipation appeared on his face.
"Let me see..." he commanded.
Quickly, Zimo brought out the Flaonium from his storage.
Waving his hand, the Flaonium ore floated toward him. He observed the Flaonium ore for the first time and was fascinated.
Without looking at Zimo, he commanded, "Go to the city lord."
