Chapter 398: The Song of the Wind (3)

After that, Geon visited the club more than twice a week to DJ. Although it was the same track each time, the track changed slightly, and people's reactions were different every day.

However, people soon figured out Geon’s DJing schedule and regularly showed up at the club on the nights of Wednesday and Friday at 11 PM. Rumors of the monstrous DJ quickly spread and hit New York.

Even on normal days, the club, popular and always packed, would see happy screams from the crowd queuing outside the club doors, which didn’t open until 3 PM on Wednesday and Friday afternoons.

The problem was the overwhelming number of patrons that filled the venue to capacity, and those who couldn’t get in by the time Geon stepped down at midnight had no choice but to turn away, even though another DJ came on after him.

However, the club owner, skilled in business, solved the problem by introducing a new rule: no entrance fee for those who entered after 12 AM.

Usually, Geon would leave immediately after his set, but the owner caught him and led him to his office.

Geon, who had little to say to the owner, followed him into the office without protest, appreciating that the owner had given him a stage to test on. The owner opened the door and courteously invited him to sit on the sofa.

"I won’t take much of your time. Just a moment, Kay."

As Geon observed the owner, who gestured him inside, he sat down on the sofa, and the owner offered him a drink.

"Here, you might be thirsty, please have this. I wanted to ask you something."

Geon glanced at the drink the owner offered and smiled apologetically.

"Thank you for the offer, but I’ve been instructed not to casually drink anything provided at clubs. I’ll take it next time. What did you want to ask?"

Despite the friendly offer, Geon declined due to prior safety instructions from his company, leaving the owner with an awkward smile.

"Well, Kay, a person of your caution is indeed cautious. Ah, it’s nothing special, but I'm curious, and so are the other DJs at our club."

"Sure, go ahead."

The owner moved the drink aside on the table and asked,

"It’s already your sixth performance today, and while it seems like the same track, the DJs are curious because it feels different each time. The crowd reacts differently every time too. Of course, the reactions are always good."

Geon looked as if asking what he wanted to say, and the owner asked in a subtle tone.

"You said it was a 'test' when you first came here, right?"

"Yes, that’s correct."

"Are all these performances part of that test?"

"Yes, they are."

"Would it be rude to ask what the test is?"

"Haha, well, it’s a secret, just experimenting with various musical elements and observing how the audience reacts."

The owner didn't press further as it was almost like asking Geon to reveal his musical secrets, and nodded as if he understood.Nôv(el)B\\jnn

"You are indeed impressive, no wonder you’re so popular. Alright, I’ll just tell the other DJs that. Oh, and by the way, we signed a formal contract with Fantagio last week, but we still don’t know the name of the music you’ll hand over to us."

"I haven’t named it yet. Just give it a suitable name."

The owner looked around and then leaned in to ask,

"So… are you going to give us the music from the first performance, or the current music?"

Seeing the escalating fervent reactions from the crowd, the owner wanted the last version of the file, completed to the end.

Geon, seeing the owner's anxious face, chuckled and said,

"Since it’s still a draft, I might as well give you something finished. I'll hand over the final completed file. Our contract lasts until the next show, so I’ll give it to you after the performance on Friday."

The owner sighed in relief and beamed,

"Thank you so much, haha. You won’t be giving it to other clubs, right?"

"Haha, why would I? It's not registered yet, so feel free to use it, and I won’t make a fuss even if you give it to other clubs. Just don’t use my name, since it's a draft."

"Of course, if we used your name, it would get even a better response, but we already have more guests than we can handle. Can I ask you one more favor?"

"Sure, what is it?"

"It’s just, since you don’t reveal your face and don’t do anything special while DJing… we were thinking of having a stand-in. If the DJ suddenly disappears and only the music plays, people might find it strange."

"Haha, go ahead with that."

"Phew, thank you. Actually,

there’s a rumor among the DJs that this music will become the property of our club, and many DJs are begging me for it after you leave, fearing they might ruin the music if they try to DJ themselves."

"I appreciate your consideration. Thanks for your time, Kay. You must be tired, why don’t you head back now?"

"Thank you for everything."

"Haha, we still have one more show to go, it feels sad to say goodbye already."

"That’s true, haha."

Both men stood up and shook hands energetically.

Two days after the last performance ended.

Today, as usual, Yoon-jung and Jin-yeon, who had been studying English for ten hours, sat exhausted on the floor of the practice room.

Unlike Geon, who had his own space, the two had been studying in the cafeteria at the corner of the dance practice room, so they were sprawled out there.

Jin-yeon, lying on the wooden floor, rubbed his weary face and looked up at the ceiling.

"Wow, it’s already been a month. I wonder if we’ll pass the test soon?"

Yoon-jung, in contrast to Jin-yeon’s gloominess, flipped through her English workbook with a somewhat brighter expression.

"Have some confidence, you're doing well. Why the gloom? You even talked to the security guard at the apartment yesterday, right? That should be enough."

Jin-yeon sat up energetically and smiled.

"Did you see that? Isn’t it amazing? I was talking to an American security guard!"

"Hehe, I went to the convenience store yesterday and I understood everything the clerk was saying. After just a month of training, am I a genius? Hehe."

"Hehe, maybe we’re both geniuses and we just didn’t know it till now. Keke."

Laughing and joking, Jin-yeon lay back down and stared at the ceiling again.

"Isn’t it unbelievable? We’re lying here in Fantagio’s practice room."

Yoon-jung looked up from her workbook and smiled.

"Shizuka lives upstairs from the apartment."

Jin-yeon turned to Yoon-jung with a laugh.

"And whenever we come to the office, brother Kay always greets us with a smile."

Yoon-jung chimed in,

"And upstairs from the office, there are Snoop Dogg and Eminem."

"We talk and eat with Director Lynn, whom we’ve only seen on TV, in the cafeteria."

"It’s a bit sad that manager Byung-jun isn’t our manager."

"Keke, did you see his face change when you called him ‘mister’?"

"Hehe, he’s only three years older than Kay, but why do they call him mister?"

"Kekeke, that mister is really funny."

As they laughed and joked again, they heard the automatic door open and quickly stood up when Clara entered. Clara, seeing the two resting, gestured for them to stay comfortable.

"Don’t get up, I know you’re tired."

Jin-yeon, attempting to stand, sat back down and greeted her.

"Hello, Clara."

"How’s your English study going?"

"Yes, I’m gaining confidence little by little. Hehe."

"That’s good to hear. Tomorrow there are no classes, but there’s another schedule, so please come by 10 AM."

Yoon-jung looked puzzled.

"It’s nice there’s no class, but… another schedule?"

Clara smiled gently at the two girls.

"It’s a message from Kay. The Song of the Wind is completed. We’ll start recording tomorrow, and after that, English classes will be reduced to four hours a day, and you’ll start dance practice."

Yoon-jung and Jin-yeon couldn't help but scream in excitement.

"Aaah!!! Really? Can we start dance practice now, Clara?"

"Finally!! Are we starting practice now? Recording too? Aaah!!! I didn’t expect it to happen so soon!"

Clara smiled warmly.

"There’s a rough schedule for the album release, so we need to keep up. Since you have to record tomorrow, please take care of your throats."

Jin-yeon stood up, stretching brightly and smiling.

"Of course! I’m so excited!! Ehehehe!"

Clara smiled deeply.

"Excited? I wonder if you’ll say the same tomorrow?"

Jin-yeon stopped stretching and asked,

"Why? Isn’t it recording tomorrow?"

"Ho ho, yes."

"Then why can’t we say the same tomorrow?"

"You haven’t recorded with Kay before, so it’s hard to explain, ho ho. Ah, there’s Kevin."

As Kevin passed by the entrance to the practice room, he waved when he saw Clara through the opening automatic door.

"Oh, Clara. You haven’t left yet?"

The two girls, now familiar with Kevin after a month at Fantag

io, waved back.

"Brother, hello."

Kevin smiled and waved back.

"That ‘brother’ has a certain charm to it. I don’t know why, but it makes me feel good. Hehe."

"Hehe, shall I keep calling you that? Brother, brother, brother?"

Kevin stretched out his arms as if enjoying a pleasant breeze, closing his eyes and smiling. Clara laughed and said,

"Both of you, you have recording with Kay tomorrow, any words of advice as seniors?"

Kevin’s expression, which had been full of cheerful smiles, suddenly hardened. He looked at the girls with pitiful eyes and shook his head.

"Tomorrow will be hell, no matter what you imagine, so brace yourselves."

The girls looked back at Kevin, who was viewing them as if they were pitiful street beggars.

Clara laughed, seeing the girls' perplexed faces, and patted their shoulders as Kevin left the room.

"Ts-ts, you’ll understand tomorrow… I’d like to tell you not to be scared in advance, but you’ll have to be… ah well."
