Chapter 1709: A Foot Turned Mountain
Chapter 1709: A Foot Turned Mountain
Xaden's expression turned sour when he saw the short exchange between Grey and Matilda after the end of their battle.
Grey had defeated the number one person below the Late stages and could be called the number one person now, so he didn't expect that he would be challenged again until the start of the next competition which was for those in the Late stages.
The Elder in charge of battles looked around, and saw that just two more people were part of the people present who hadn't gotten a position on the list, but they hadn't been challenged yet either. So there was no way to rank them against those who are in the list but not as deserving as either of them.
"You two will have to challenge someone or leave." He said to the duo.
The duo looked around, one of them was in the Fifth stage, and looking at the people who are undefeated among the Fifth stage Sovereigns, he could only shake his head and leave the platform. The other person was in the Sixth stage, and the person he challenged defeated him in a short time.
"Since that's the last person to join the list, the competition is o..."
"Wait."
A voice stopped the Elder from finishing his statement. Everyone turned to the owner of the voice, and it was Xaden.
"I want to challenge him for the number one spot."
In the stands.
The crowd was buzzing.
"Senior Xaden has always had a thing for Senior Matilda, there's no way he'll let this guy who beat her up off."
"What's he going to do? Get beaten too? Hahaha!"
"Senior Xaden has never been able to beat Senior Matilda, yet he wants to fight against someone who just beat her cleanly."
"Senior Xaden always holds back whenever he spars with Senior Matilda. How do you expect him to hurt someone he loves?"
"It doesn't change the fact that he'll get beat by this guy."
"I don't care, I just want to see them fight."
"Yeah, it's not like we're the ones getting beat or anything."
There were conflicting responses from the crowd, but they were all eager to see how the fight would end, and who would come out victorious.
"You can't refuse this time, outsider." Xaden grinned as he walked to the center of the platform, waiting for Grey.
Grey took a glance at the Elder in charge, and he saw him nod. Since the competition wasn't over before Xaden spoke up, then the challenge was valid.
He sighed and walked to the center of the platform to face his opponent, Xaden.
He wanted to ask why he wanted to waste his time, but he felt like saying that would feel like he was looking down on him. But it's just the truth, Xaden was wasting both of their time.
Xaden seemed to catch the look of helplessness in Grey's eyes, and he understood it perfectly. He also has this look on his face whenever someone inferior challenges him and he can't refuse.
'He's looking down on me?'
This was the question that popped in his head. His eyes suddenly showed anger, and without hesitation, his aura exploded forth.
Everyone was shocked at the scene. Xaden was using a secret technique to improve his strength. This is completely normal in these competitions, so it wasn't looked down on. This act however, made everyone know that Xaden took Grey really seriously. Winning this meant more to Xaden than anything else.
Grey still had the same expression on his face. Luckily for Xaden, he wasn't going up against the sharp tongued Klaus, else his entire worldview would've shattered, including his mental health.
The Elder called for the start of the battle, and Xaden shot out like a bolt. A trail of flames raging behind him as he rushed towards Grey like a wild horse.
Grey stayed calm, he placed both arms in front of him, as if preparing to catch Xaden.
Xaden attacked, sending two balls of flames from his legs towards Grey.
Grey sensed that the animosity he felt from Xaden came after his exchange with Matilda. Xaden already didn't have a good impression of him due to him refusing to spar with him when he challenged him, but he didn't seem to have any intentions of battling with him during the competition, until he defeated Matilda.
The two fireballs were dealt with by Grey with ease, before he took a step forward. Xaden's figure, which was moving at a shocking speed, paused for a quarter of a second, but that was all Grey needed. He didn't want to waste any time here since there's still the main competition coming up that he wanted to take part in.
He vanished, before reappearing behind Xaden. He struck out with a palm strike to his opponent's back.
Xaden had a protective elemental item with him which lit up when Grey's palm connected with his back.
The light stopped Grey's attack from hitting his body, but his innards were rocked, and on the side of his mouth, blood could be seen dripping.
Xaden hurriedly wiped off the blood from the side of his mouth, and he felt a hint of fear in his heart. This attack from Grey was dangerous, more dangerous than anything he had used prior
to this battle.
His eyes turned cold as he looked at Grey who was standing in the attacking position, so his
palm was open.
Grey let out a surprised 'Oh', before taking another step. This time, the pressure Xaden felt on his body was stronger. Not just that, but Grey's figure disappeared once again. This time, everyone could tell that it wasn't his speed, rather, he truly vanished, an ability only Space Elementalists possess.
Boom!
Grey appeared above him, and his right foot which was supposed to land on the ground was above Xaden.Nôv(el)B\\jnn
Seeing the foot coming his way, Xaden didn't think it was a foot, rather, what he felt was that of a mountain coming down on him. What was worse is that he couldn't even move out of the way. His eyes showed hints of despair.
