Chapter 1128: Section 1129: Inscription Products
Nitotipu’s so-called secret passageway was actually not a true secret passageway, but an underground pipeline.
Even then, there wasn’t a single door that led to this pipeline.
To enter this pipeline, one had to break open the ground on one’s own.
Yadasai knew about the existence of the underground pipeline as well; however, it remembered that the pipeline was filled with inscriptions, and the slightest damage would cause a backlash from the inscriptions. One should know, these were inscriptions laid out by ruthless scholars, and once backlash occurred, even if one didn’t die, it would definitely make Yadasai suffer greatly.
The section of the pipeline without inscription nexuses, mentioned by Nitotipu, was also unknown to Yadasai until then.
“Follow me, this pipeline isn’t near the Void Tower but at the edge of the Shadow Mist Area,” Nitotipu said, leading the way.
Hearing this, Yadasai felt a surge of joy in its heart. Being away from the Void Tower meant they wouldn’t encounter those powerful beings, and the shadows at the edge of the Shadow Mist Area were more like sentinels with relatively low strength.
As Nitotipu led the way, it also exchanged information with Yadasai.
“Komodo took those two fools’ blood cocoons to the Demon Blood Pool, it should be safe for now.” The Demon Blood Pool, though reliant on Lassudral for its existence, was actually in an alternate space, not in reality. Even if human wizards tried to locate it, they would need a lot of time to find it. Unless, like the previous chaotic mana cannon incident, someone destroyed countless alternate spaces at the same coordinates, but Nitotipu could tell that human wizards couldn’t possibly have many of those maneuvers.
After briefly discussing the situation outside, Nitotipu asked, “Was the Shadow Mist Area born because the underground chamber seals were broken? Do you know who did it?”
“Only Jupiter could do that, but Jupiter has no reason to break the seals of the underground chamber. So I’m worried, could humans have lured Jupiter there?”
Yadasai’s answer was almost identical to Nitotipu’s guess, but Nitotipu still had some doubts: “If it was humans, how could he find Jupiter inside the Void Tower? Moreover, there are many checkpoints inside the Void Tower, and humans would surely be discovered by Jupiter once they broke in.”
“Everything will only be answered after entering the Void Tower,” Yadasai sighed.
“Regardless of whether Jupiter was behind this or not, all of this must be related to that numbskull!” Nitotipu said bitterly. The supposed seven seats of the Void Tower were either fools or buffoons, and then there were the insufferably arrogant ones. Sometimes it doubted whether it should continue to stay in Lassudral.
With their own thoughts, they traveled some distance.
Suddenly, Nitotipu twitched its nose, “Do you smell blood?”
“I do. Isn’t the scent of blood quite normal?” Yadasai asked, puzzled. It had frequently smelled blood while prowling the Shadow Mist Area before, but did not find anything amiss… or to put it another way, it would be strange if Demon City wasn’t filled with the smell of blood.
“It’s the scent of demonic blood,” said Nitotipu. “Judging by the richness of the blood scent, it must have died not long ago.”
“If it died recently, it must be those demons that entered the Shadow Mist Area to explore and were killed by the shadows,” Yadasai recalled that when it had previously inquired with the outside demons, they had said that many demons had entered the Shadow Mist Area, but none returned, and presumably they all perished at the hands of the shadows.
Nitotipu suddenly paused, looked towards a certain spot, and then slowly walked over.
There was a pool of blood on the ground; the blood scent Nitotipu smelled earlier emanated from this spot. Next to the pool of blood, there was a trident embedded in the ground.
“Even if they were killed by the shadows, with so many demons having come to explore, not a single corpse has been seen,” Nitotipu said as it pulled out the trident. There were no marks on the trident, and what did that imply?
An image flashed through Nitotipu’s mind: a demon cautiously entering the Shadow Mist Area, preparing to explore what was happening around, was killed by a shadow. Its weapon, the trident, was flung high, spun several times in the air, and then stuck into the ground. After the demon’s death, the wound oozed a lot of fresh blood, staining the ground…
These images were Nitotipu’s conjectures and mental fill-ins, but considering the current environment and situation, they were highly likely to be true. However, what was odd was that here there was a pool of blood and a trident, but the corpse was nowhere to be seen?
Nitotipu’s words made Yadasai startle. Since it came to the Shadow Mist Area, it had indeed never seen a demon corpse, yet the scent of blood came intermittently.
“Could it be that these shadows also corrode corpses?”
Nitotipu shook its head, a glint flashing in its eyes, “No, haven’t you realized yet what these shadows truly are?”
Their true nature? Through the naked eye, they seemed like shadows, and spiritual sense revealed various shapes. Isn’t that their true nature?
Nitotipu shook its head again: “These shadows, they all carry the aura of that Demon God.”
It took Yadasai a good while to react sharply! It had sensed something familiar when it saw that Abyssal Dragon previously, but now, prompted by Nitotipu, it remembered why it felt so familiar!
Because the aura of the Abyssal Dragon and the aura emitted by the Void Tower were completely identical, the Abyssal Dragon being beside the Void Tower even felt as if it had fused with the Void Tower!
And the force that the Void Tower itself manifests is—Inscription Studies!
Could it be that all these black shadows are actually products of inscriptions?
Yadasai had once visited the Sin and Desire Interface, where he had seen some wizards using modified Inscription Cards. These cards sealed various things, including Extraordinary Creatures.
How strikingly similar to the situation in the Shadow Mist Area!
Furthermore, consider that the subterranean chamber of the Void Tower was personally arranged by the Cruel Scholar; then everything becomes clear!
“They’re all inscriptions!” If the inscriptions were shattered, as long as the hub wasn’t destroyed, then as long as there was enough energy, resurrection would occur, which also matched the records on the murals.
“That’s right, precisely because their essence is inscriptions, they’re even harder to deal with,” Nitotipu remarked with a sigh. The Void Tower had been standing for countless years, the device at the very top had absorbed an innumerable amount of Void energy, and with the abundance of energy, it could constantly resurrect these inscriptions, until the intruders were exhausted to death.
One could only say that this was truly the work of the Cruel Scholar.
After realizing that these black shadows were inscriptions, the previous question hit a dead end again: inscriptions definitely didn’t need demon corpses, which meant the disappearance of these demon corpses was indeed due to some other factor!
Nitotipu and Yadasai exchanged glances: “Could it be that this external force factor is the reason for the emergence of the Shadow Mist Area?”
“Could it have been done by Jupiter? Doesn’t Jupiter also have a habit of consuming demon corpses?” Yadasai asked.
“Even if that fool ate demon corpses, it would pick ones that were tender and juicy,” Nitotipu sneered. “Like the Pannas Charm Demon who flirts outside with the Ogre Lords.”
When Nya was mentioned, Yadasai’s face darkened.
Nitotipu did not continue to provoke Yadasai; after all, among the seven great demons, probably only Yadasai still had a grasp on reality. The only thing was, like Urdixinos, he was obsessed with that Pannas Charm Demon.
“The external force factor certainly exists, and it is this force that has led to the change in the Void Tower. However, what exactly this external force is, is difficult to determine at the moment. Only by entering the Void Tower can we be sure.” Nitotipu paused, “We’re close now, the stretch of conduit without the Inscription hub is just ahead.”
Nitotipu and Yadasai stopped behind a building.
The reason they stopped was that on the ground corresponding to the conduit, there were two black shadows lingering nearby.
The target location was a dome-shaped building. To break the ground and enter the secret tunnel, they would need to enter that dome-shaped building. However, the two black shadows were on the roof of the dome-shaped building.
It was virtually impossible to enter the building without alerting them.
“We must deal with these two black shadows, and we have to do it quickly.” After Nitotipu decided on the plan, she closed her eyes like Yadasai and used her Spiritual Sense to observe the true nature of the two black shadows.
When in shadow form, it’s impossible to sense their power and energy fluctuations; only by seeing their true forms with Spiritual Sense can one make a judgment of their strength.
To their surprise, the true forms corresponding to the two black shadows were an Abyss Indigenous Person and an eagle.
The appearance of the Abyss Indigenous Person was that of a weathered old man, sitting cross-legged on the roof with his eyes closed, wearing an ancient robe and holding a wooden staff in his hand.n/ô/vel/b//in dot c//om
The eagle, on the other hand, looked no different from a normal one, but it wore a handcrafted feathered crown on its head.
“Eh, I can’t discern his energy flow?” Yadasai’s gaze was fixed on the Indigenous Person. The eagle next to him clearly complemented the Indigenous Person, just as with the Indigenous Person they had encountered earlier who was riding a leopard.
Yadasai turned back to look at Nitotipu, only to find her frowning deeply, looking quite tense.
“I also can’t sense its energy,” said Nitotipu, very aware that the Cruel Scholar wouldn’t leave ordinary inscriptions behind. Therefore, not being able to sense the energy of this Indigenous Person indicated that he was no ordinary being.
“Could an Indigenous Person be that strong?”
“Put aside your prejudices. Did you ever imagine that a Half-Blood Demon could become a Lord?” Nitotipu scoffed, “Besides, the Cruel Scholar’s inscriptions would definitely have a real basis, and perhaps this Indigenous Person was someone from before the fall of the gods.”
“You make a good point, but instead of speculating about his strength, why not find out for ourselves?”
Yadasai and Nitotipu began to discuss their tactics, but just then, Nitotipu suddenly said, “Do you feel that the eagle seems to be watching us?”
