Villain With The Strongest System

Chapter 322 Illusions

After making their way through the room filled with undead, the team found themselves entering a narrow corridor that was guarded by mind controlling spirits.

Thankfully, the head necromancer did not consider the team to be a strong enough threat to deploy his stronger undead in these halls, as he believed that the spirits would be able to easily break down the minds of the weak adventurers that had dared to enter his territory.

The spirits guarding the balls were all tier4 beings or stronger, and while they did not possess a physical presence or the capability to physically hurt the adventurers walking in, their mental magic was elite and enough to psychologically kill a man.

It was because of this fearsome ability of the mind controlling spirits, that the necromancer's assumption about the spirits not needing any additional help to deal with the adventurers was actually sound, as a normal team would surely be unable to handle this level of mental magic.

Unfortunately for the necromancer however, Rocky's team were not a normal group of adventurers, and with Buhara and Erin having already drank the potions to keep their minds safe, the team already had an edge against the spirits.n/o/vel/b//in dot c//om

"Woah…. Do you see this?" Kronos said, as the team entered the corridor, as both him and Rocky got immediately sucked into the illusion that the corridor floor was oozing with blood.

"Blood…. There's blood all around" Rocky said, as he remained calm and tried to bend over and touch the floor to make sure that the blood was real.

To his surprise, when he touched the blood it did feel warm and liquidy like blood should, as although it was an illusion, it was powerful enough to fool all of his senses and not just his vision.

"What blood? There is no blood here…." Said Buhara, as he looked around the corridor and failed to see anything at all.

Immune from the mental manipulation spells, he did not see the same vision that Kronos and Rocky did, as he and Erin just saw the corridor for what it really was.

"There's no blood here Sir Rocky, let's move on…. What you're witnessing is most likely an illusion–" Erin said, as he and Buhara took the lead in exploring the corridor, with Kronos and Rocky following exactly in their footsteps.

*Plop*

*Plop*

*Plop*

Rocky and Kronos both felt like they were really walking in a pool of blood, as although they were aware it was an illusion, oddly it felt extremely real.

The blood droplets splattered everytime they took a step in the bloody waters and it made a distinct plop sound too.

Thankfully, Rocky and Kronos had Buhara and Erin to follow, as without them, the two of them would surely stop walking as usual and start wading through the waters, believing that it was real.

As the team moved on, vigilant for the signs of any potential threats, chains of blood suddenly emerged from the water and approached both Rocky and Kronos at blinding speeds.

"Watchout–!" Said Kronos as he panicked and tried to dodge a chain, however, Rocky held him in place, believing it to not be real.

*Shua*

The chains passed through them, giving both Kronos and Rocky a sensation of unnatural cold, however, although it seemed like the chains penetrated through them, they were actually completely fine, with not a hair damaged on their bodies.

"Don't worry, no chains here—" said Buhara, as Kronos calmed back down.

The illusion was too real and if the team did not have Erin and Buhara to lead the way, Kronos had no doubt in his mind that he would have started to fight against the chains seriously, when he did not really need to.

The illusion was messing with his senses big time and because he was a trained warrior who possessed sharp innate senses, ignoring the dangerous environment around him was even harder for him than it would be for an average warrior.

"Nice call on obtaining those potions for Erin and Buhara….. Rocky, this shit is creepy as hell" Kronos said, as Rocky simply smiled at his words.

His team had no idea that it was the Gemini Gods who provided him with all such materials, as they believed that he especially shopped for them before the start of every mission from the black markets.

"It's alright, the real star is Buhara, he sees all threats before they even come" Rocky said, making a light joke, as he tried to lighten the environment for himself and Kronos, as the two of them were really feeling the edge here.

"Buhara is surely the best—" said Buhara, as his words made the rest of the team chuckle.

*SHUA*

Just then, as Erins leg hit a pressure plate, a bunch of spears got launched from the corridor walls, as this time the spears were physical and real!

"Watchout—" said Erin, as he dodged the first spear by the thinnest of margins, while Buhara blocked the one coming towards him by deflecting it with his arms.

*Shua*

Kronos, mirroring Erin's movements managed to dodge the spear by the thinnest of margins as well, as this time around, it was him and Rocky who could not see the spears coming and felt like the corridor was completely empty.

"Fuck, I could not see that spear come until you blocked it Buhara…. I could not sense it at all—" Rocky said, as it wasn't until he bent over and picked up the spear that Buhara had previously deflected that Rocky realized that it was actually real.

Before then, he could not see it's incoming trajectory at all, nor could he hear it whistling through the air, as the illusion his mind was currently trapped in, seemed to mess with his ability to detect real danger as well.

"This corridor is dangerous…. Really, really dangerous… we need to watch our steps as it can trigger unexpected traps" Erin said, as it was only now that the team realized just how serious of a situation they were really in.
