Chapter 361: Planning For The Special Exam
Chapter 361: Planning For The Special Exam
"Alright, let's begin with the medium-tier planet," Mako said as the holographic image of the crystalline planet enlarged so that everyone could easily view its features.
Aetheris Prime was a tricky planet to traverse for sure as the detailed description of the planet stated that the atmospheric pressure of the planet was only half of what it is on Earth.
This meant that they would have to get specialized suits that could withstand the change in pressure and help them not explode under the lower atmospheric pressure of Aetheris Prime. Secondly, there was also the fact that unlike Earth which has a composition of 78% Nitrogen and 21% oxygen, Aetheris Prime is 91% Helium and other Inert gases and only 9% Oxygen, making it almost impossible.
So in addition to specialized suits that would enable them to fight at the optimal status and protect them from the low atmospheric pressure of the planet, they would also need specialized masks that would filter in only the oxygen from the atmosphere and optimize it in order for it to be breathable.
"I'm sure the military display will have every single item we would need in terms of serving on that planet so we don't have to worry much about that," Mako stated as the atmospheric and temperature conditions of the planet weren't much of a concern to him.
The concerning factor in his mind was the fact despite only having half of the atmospheric pressure as Earth, its dense crust, mantle, and core generate 3 times the amount of gravitational pull meaning everything on Aetheris Prime will weigh 3 times as much as it did on Earth.
This was a factor that couldn't be resolved by gadgets or technology as it is the literal gravitational pull of the planet they would be standing on, pulling them 3 times as hard making it so that they won't be as fast nor as strong as they would be on Earth.
"The higher gravity will also mean that you guys will have to remaster the timings of your skills as it would take you longer to perform and will drain your stamina much quicker," Mako stated.
"In addition to that, you guys will also be at a disadvantage as the beasts of that planet have evolved over millions of years to be perfectly suited for their environment, they will be faster and stronger than any beast you have faced on Earth and they will also have abilities that cater to their environment, giving them an even greater edge," Mako added.
"But still, I don't think it will be that big of a deal as after all, the beast level on that planet shouldn't go past mostly high and advanced tier," Nathan argued as he was still confident that he would be able to handle the creatures on Aetheris Prime as after all, he was able to survive and complete the recruitment test as a solo with no outside help.
"Then you're greatly mistaken," Mako stated with a cautious and serious tone as he addressed Nathan's overconfidence.
"You are basing your beliefs on your experiences and battles on Earth and are only viewing the coming exam with this single perspective and that is where you're wrong. A lot of our strength can be attributed to our planet as all of our strength and abilities are a measure of how greatly can we counter the authority of our planet." Mako began to explain.n/ô/vel/b//in dot c//om
"Our strength, speed, and stamina are all based on the mass of our bodies, the resistance of the atmosphere, the favorability of the terrain, and the amount of energy it takes for us actually to move and all of this can be completely different when you're standing on a whole different planet," Mako stated.
"In addition to our physical attributes, our abilities will also suffer. With a lower oxygen content in the air, abilities like my Fire and your Explosion will be extremely reduced in terms of power and damage potential as they both rely on oxygen in the air to burn, grow, and destroy."
"Not only that but with there being no water present on this planet, Bella's Water ability will be completely useless and with the lower atmospheric pressure, even her Wind ability will be greatly compromised. Hell, I am not even sure if the Earth ability will be able to manipulate that crystal ground with the same efficiency as regular rocks."
Mako concluded his explanation and everyone was now left speechless by the intense level of knowledge that Mako had on the subject and the amount of thought he had given to considering each variable and its effect, even Alexi who had not taken Mako to be of the intellectual type considering his proficiency in fighting.
"I completely agree, I don't know if my abilities will be much of any help on this planet as the numbers don't lie, our abilities' strength and magnitude will be severely reduced on that planet in comparison to here on Earth," Isabella stated.
The air in the room had suddenly become grim and gloomy as everyone realized the sheer complexity of their upcoming exam and how much they overestimated themselves in the grand scheme of things.
However, Mako wasn't done yet as his goal wasn't to demean or demotivate his friends but to boost their confidence even more than before.
"This is why I had asked everyone to meet here tonight as this is a reminder for all of us that moving forward, greater and greater challenges will be thrown in our and we won't always have the perfect set of abilities or time to prepare but that doesn't mean it's not doable. If there is no water, we will bring our own... If there is no oxygen, we will bring our own." Mako began to speak again.
"We are not limited to that harsh planet's resources. We are allowed and even encouraged to buy and bring crucial items with us on our mission to make sure it is a success because frankly without them we don't stand much of a chance," Mako added.
Isabella was first to smack her hand on her forehead as she couldn't believe, she hadn't thought about such an important part of their exam yet. She was so caught up in the sheer absurdity and complexity of their exam that she had completely forgotten that the military wasn't just throwing her on another planet without any help... she was getting all the help she would ever need.
The others also quickly came to the realization and it was now time for Mako to reveal his plan which he had spent the entire day concocting.
Due to the military display being active for the whole week starting from tomorrow and ending till their time for departure, they had ample amount of time to study every single thing they would be selling to them in exchange for their tokens and strategize the most efficient way to spend them to ensure they had ample amount of resources to make it through the exam with a bit of ease.
Food, water, and shelter were the common necessities that everyone would require. In addition to that, there would also be a great number of power weapons and armor available as previously mentioned by their homeroom teacher, Angela, which would greatly help them by boosting their states and providing crucial active and passive skills.
However, there weren't any restrictions that Angela had mentioned which meant that they could purchase a lot more water than what was necessary for them to survive in order to
facilitate Water ability users.
Similarly, Mako was almost certain that stuff like compressed oxygen canisters would also be for sale as it is a very important resource to help them breathe, but there was no limit to how much they could buy so they could purchase additional oxygen canisters to facilitate their Fire and Explosion abilities which would actually be even more powerful and strong when used with pure oxygen as compared to the relatively low oxygen content of the Earth's atmosphere.
Mako assured everyone that they didn't have to worry much about these outside factors and had to mainly focus on their survival strategy once they arrived on that planet as the starting couple of hours of their exam would be the most crucial.
They would have to leave behind their natural instincts that were developed and catered to Eart's unique environment and instead train and formulate strategies that will help them survive on Aetheris Prime.
They would also have to train their bodies and minds to adapt to the new environment as everything will be for nothing if they can't adjust their bodies in time as it will only take one slip up for the professors to jump in and save them, thus eliminating them completely from
the exam.
The mood of the room had gotten significantly better than before as everyone, even Alexi was impressed with Mako's intelligence and deep level of thinking.
With the main plan set in mind to visit the military display together tomorrow, Mako shifted his focus to analyzing his own assigned planet, the high-tier planet, Infernis.
However, before he could do so, he received a text from a person he wasn't expecting to hear
from at this time.
'Hmmm... I wonder what he wants?' Mako thought as he closed the hologram and retrieved his student card to read a text message from none other than Haruto.
