Universal Lords: Building an Immortal Fairyland from Scratch

Chapter 1 - The Era of Universal Lords!

Chapter 1: The Era of Universal Lords!

“Next! Wu Chi!”

In Silvermoon City, at the eighty-first step of the Sky Ascension Staircase.

A middle-aged man, dressed in a silver crane-patterned robe and wearing a blue headdress, spoke aloud. His voice wasn’t particularly loud, yet it resonated in all directions like surging waves, exploding in the ears of those present.

Below the Sky Ascension Staircase, the spectators held their breath, their eyes glued to the scene, too tense to speak.

Those queuing on the staircase raised their heads to look.

At the very front of the line, a young man stepped forward, walking up to the middle-aged man.

He appeared slightly delicate, with short hair, a resolute expression, and eyes as calm as still water.

The middle-aged man glanced at the young man and then at the scroll in his hands before saying, “Shenhe High School, Senior Class 5, sixteen years old, Wu Chi. Correct?”

“Yes.” Wu Chi nodded.

The middle-aged man stepped aside, signaling the young man to proceed.

Behind him lay a floating altar!

This was an ancient altar, weathered and worn, appearing dilapidated yet exuding an aura of divinity. Perhaps an immortal or deity once meditated here.

Wu Chi took a deep breath and stepped onto the altar.

The middle-aged man, seeing that Wu Chi had entered, wasted no time. He unfolded a silk scroll and solemnly began reciting the Prayer to the Heavens.

Today was Sky Ascension Day.

This man was the Guide for Silvermoon City’s Sky Ascension Day. His role was to lead the new generation to perform the “Prayer to the Heavens,” obtain a Heart of the Lord, and become a [Lord]!

In the central square, a dense crowd of people had gathered. Most were relatives of the participants, with a few simply there to watch the spectacle.

At such a significant occasion, no one spoke, but all eyes were fixed on the young man atop the altar, their expressions varied.

Listening to the Guide’s voice and feeling the countless gazes focused on him, Wu Chi felt a wave of complicated emotions.

At last, the day has come…

He was a transmigrator!

The memories of his previous life were like fleeting clouds, irrelevant to the present.

After his sudden transmigration and becoming a newborn baby, Wu Chi’s young mind was filled with both astonishment and excitement.

Astonishment that such a thing had happened to him!

Excitement at gaining a new life—a free extension of his lifespan! With memories of his past life intact, he imagined that this life could be extraordinary!

If he had transmigrated to a historical world, he would have plagiarized poems, invented cement, glass, and gunpowder, developed hybrid rice, and introduced sweet potatoes and potatoes. Who knows? He might have even become an emperor with a harem of beauties numbering in the thousands!

If he had transmigrated to a modern world, he could have become a copycat writer, started a company, and retraced the entrepreneurial path of his past life to become a business tycoon. Then, on a TV show, he could have declared,

“I’m not interested in money.”

However, as Wu Chi grew older and understood the background of this era, he abandoned all these fantasies.

This world was the Era of Universal Lords!

Every Earthling could become a Lord, step into the Boundless Void, build their territory, and achieve everything through the development of their domain!

This was an era where Lords held infinite possibilities!

Everyone could become a deity; everyone could become immortal!

Naturally, being a Lord was the only path. Copycat writing and business ventures held no meaning.

Transmigrating into such an era, Wu Chi naturally aspired to be a Lord as well.

However, performing the “Prayer to the Heavens” and obtaining a Heart of the Lord required a certain level of soul strength.

Ordinary people typically reached the required soul strength between the ages of sixteen and eighteen.

Thus, Wu Chi waited until last month.

At sixteen, his soul strength finally qualified, allowing him to successfully register for this year’s Sky Ascension Day.

As for the so-called Sky Ascension Day…

The name said it all…

It was a day of leaping into greatness in a single bound!

Every year, during this time, the nation held Prayer Ceremonies on Sky Ascension Staircases across various cities. This allowed all qualified individuals to pray to the heavens and obtain their Heart of the Lord.

The Heart of the Lord was the core of a Lord and the foundation of a territory’s development!

For most, the Heart of the Lord they obtained varied greatly, but it always granted a unique Territory Trait.

The quality of this trait determined the Lord’s potential.

Though this era brimmed with endless possibilities, even the weakest trait might lead to immortality or divinity.

But such cases were exceedingly rare—less than one in a million.

Under normal circumstances, the stronger the trait, the better.

Wu Chi felt nervous inside. He hoped to possess a powerful Heart of the Lord, yet he also feared receiving a poor Territory Trait. His emotions were a tangled mess.

The color of a Heart of the Lord varied depending on its quality:

  • Gray: Inferior
  • White: Common
  • Green: Rare
  • Blue: Excellent
  • Purple: Exceptional
  • Gold: Legendary

Most people ended up with Inferior or Common traits. Without extraordinary luck or destiny, they would achieve little in life and struggle to develop their territories meaningfully.

A few received Rare or Excellent traits. With hard work, they had a chance to become strong, though only a tiny fraction managed to truly ascend.

Those with Exceptional traits were far more likely to attain immortality and divinity. Living forever and becoming undying legends was no mere fantasy for them!

The rarest of all, the Legendary trait, ensured that its possessor would achieve divinity as long as they survived. Their path extended far beyond mere godhood.

Throughout history, every individual who obtained a Legendary Heart of the Lord became a legendary figure in their own right.

  • The Immortal King Zhang Bainian, who established the Ninefold Immortal Realms and ruled over the Heavenly Court, with ten thousand immortals in attendance.
  • The Dao Master Laozi, who created the Xuanmen Path and governed the Shangqing Celestial Domain, spreading his teachings across the worlds.
  • The Myriad Wonders Bodhisattva Dantai Xuan, who oversaw the Myriad Wonders Buddha Land and brought salvation to all.
  • The God-King Yahweh, who created Eden and ruled the Heavenly Kingdom, where believers ascended to divinity and attained eternal life.
  • The God-King Artemis, who presided over Mount Olympus and controlled the stars from the Moon Palace.
  • The Master of Truth Karina, who roamed the void, ruling from the Tower of Truth and hunting evil gods.

In this era, myths were not just stories!

Immortals and deities walked among them!
