Chapter 1005: Makeup Artist’s Prank

To Gu Shuxue’s horror, despite the Memorial Hall being clearly in sight, no matter how fast she ran, she couldn’t seem to reach it. The road stretched endlessly before her.
She recalled unsettling legends about haunted funeral parlors and grew even more terrified, tears streaming down her face.
When Gu Yang returned to the Memorial Hall, she saw Gu Shuxue running in circles on the empty grounds.
Perplexed, Gu Yang wondered if Gu Shuxue had developed a strange habit of running in funeral parlors.
As Gu Yang approached, she suddenly felt something was amiss. How could Gu Shuxue not see her?
“Gu Shuxue?” Gu Yang called out.
Gu Shuxue didn’t respond and kept running.n/ô/vel/b//in dot c//om
Realizing what might be happening, Gu Yang understood that Gu Shuxue was likely hypnotized. She stepped in front of her and extended a leg to trip her.
Gu Shuxue fell to the ground. Her eyes gradually cleared, but her face remained pale with fear as she muttered repeatedly, “Ghost, ghost…”
It was clear she was deeply shaken.
Gu Yang asked, “Who did you see just now?”
Panicking, Gu Shuxue saw the familiar Gu Yang and seemed to cling to her like a lifeline. “Ghost! This place is haunted!”
Gu Yang gently stepped aside to avoid being grabbed. “You’re a top student at Hua University. How can you be so superstitious? Who did you see?”
As a firm materialist, Gu Yang didn’t believe in ghosts or supernatural beings.
Gu Shuxue, however, appeared to be more shaken than she would be from encountering a ghost. It seemed more like she had been pranked by a hypnotist.
Gu Shuxue’s reaction was intense and her words were jumbled. “It was a ghost! Her face was as pale as paper, and her lips looked bloodless. She even smiled at me and said goodbye… I’m sure it was that undertaker. She’s a ghost!”
“An undertaker?”
Gu Yang was deep in thought when she suddenly heard footsteps crunching on a tree branch in the darkness. She turned sharply.
“Who’s there?”
No one appeared. Gu Yang approached the sound and found no one, but she did notice clear traces of footsteps on the ground.
She scanned the area thoughtfully.
“Gu Yang, where are you going? Wait for me!”
Seeing Gu Yang about to leave, Gu Shuxue, terrified, hurried to catch up. The endless darkness and her fear made her feel as though she might never find her way again if Gu Yang left her behind.
After they had walked away, the bark behind a tree peeled off like a piece of cloth, revealing the petite undertaker watching from the bushes.
A golden thread descended from the tall, dense tree, and a young man swung down along it.
The young man, grinning to reveal his canine teeth, nudged the petite girl beside him with his elbow. “Hey, Shishi, didn’t you say you wanted to deal with Gu Yang?”
The Makeup Artist looked at him, her expression unreadable.
Smile’s eyelids twitched. “Can you change this dead person’s makeup first? It’s weird and frightening.”
Although he wasn’t as timid as Singer, the funeral parlor’s eerie environment made the sight of a dead person’s face unsettling.
The Makeup Artist pulled out a small pink mirror and makeup remover from her pocket. As she removed the makeup, she said, “I’m no match for her. Let Singer handle it.”
Smile followed her, curious. “By the way, how did that woman offend you? Why didn’t you do anything to Gu Yang? Why use her for a prank instead?”
Mentioning Gu Shuxue made the Makeup Artist’s expression sour. “Her mouth is dirty.”
