Transmigrate to another world

Chapter 125 The Trials [ 12 ]

As I carefully extract the draco's heart, I cry again. i truly hope it will be reborn in a much better life, and though i doubt it will happen, i hope we will meet again. it takes me half an hour to eat the heart, which is almost as big as my chest.

- Devorar has activated! +5 to all stats! +100 HP!

"Wow, I'll consider this a gift from my friend."

the next two days are spent healing and cleaning the draco's bones. i've been trying to get them into the bag, but for the first time since i've had it i've reached the capacity limit. i'm going to have to go through everything and sort through what i want to keep, but that can wait until later.

Besides, by the time I escape from here, I'll probably have eaten much of the food stored in the bag. For now I suppose I should take a look at the skill books, I pick up the supreme swordsmanship one and open the cover.

- warning! learning supreme swordsmanship will remove all non-sword weapon skills! (stat gains will remain.)

- do you want to learn this skill? y/n

hm, the other weapon skills are useful, but i only use blitz. it's good that it keeps the stats i gain, that was the main reason for learning weapon skills. maybe also, the name makes it seem really powerful.'

"yes!"

- congratulations! you have acquired the supreme swordsmanship skill!

- skill removed: Basic Dagger

- Eliminated skill: Blunt Basics

- Eliminated skill: Spear Basics

- Eliminated skill: Basic Blunt Weapon

- Eliminated skill: Basic Axe

- Eliminated skill: Basic Bow

- Eliminated skill: Pounce Attack

- Eliminated skill: Dagger Throwing

'That hurt my soul.'

Let's see, the skill is divided into forms, the first form is simply called Pierce. It's a simple lunge, what kind of scam is this? I study the diagrams and instructions in the book, stand up and try to practice the attack.Nôv(el)B\\jnn

As simple as the skill looks, executing it proves very difficult. It requires a precise series of muscle movements that are very difficult to perform. After five hours of trying, I finally manage it once, and the thrust is so fast that I can see the air currents distort around it.

As I rest and eat, I pick up the other book and take a look at it. This book is different, instead of granting a skill it is a long series of instructions designed to create a single skeleton. When I finish reading the description and discover that it only creates a level one skeleton, I am very disappointed.

Wait, why is it a level one skeleton? Does the fact that it has one level mean it can level up?

Intrigued by the possibility, I pick up the book again and continue reading. Okay, it can level up, that makes it more useful. It can also equip items, and it's basically immortal.

Whenever it is destroyed, it simply comes back to me and I can summon it again, it loses nothing by "dying". This sounds more and more like an RPG death knight pet. Turns out it was a pretty good reward after all, though it will take some work before it's useful.

What's my group missing? We have a healer, melee dps, and ranged dps. I've been tanking, but I'm not well suited for it, so I should make a pet that can tank for me."

I put the book aside and go back to practicing the new drilling technique. After a few hours, I get it to work correctly every third try. I take a drink of water and return to the natural cave and stand a few feet away from the barrier.

I start practicing again, but now I hit the barrier instead of just the air. I notice that when I hit it right, there is a small ripple in the barrier where Blitz hits it. That means the barrier can be hit without divine power, there's hope!

⟨⟨-DING-⟩⟩⟩

- Congratulations, the Sword Fundamentals skill has progressed to level 6!

√ Basic Sword

√ Level 6

- Strength +6

- You do 30% more damage with swords.

I haven't seen that level up since the last time I was trapped underground. Could it be because I'm learning a technique instead of just flailing around?'

It's hard to be sure, but it looks like the ripple on the barrier is a bit bigger after the skill leveled up. Maybe with enough work I can get to the point of breaking through the barrier. That could take years, but wouldn't it only be a few weeks out?

The sword skill alone won't be enough, but against the drake I was able to use zap with a sword slash and it was super effective. So if I level up my sword and zap techniques that should be my best option. If I also level up my rank to increase my overall power, I think I'll have a chance of passing this test.

The main drawback of this method is going to be time, it will take me a long time to perfect my swordplay. I go through my bag to check my food stockpile, between the bird stuff, the fanged bears, the ogre and the drake, plus some other things I've picked up at random. I figure I have food for two years. That's eating it all raw, if I can find a way to cook it I can make it last a little longer.

"I wonder if there's a way to use zap for cooking."

Out of the next two thousand attempts using pierce only one in four fails. This means I'm getting pretty close to mastering the attack, although that's not even close to mastering it.

Throughout the hours of practice I've been racking my brain for any other method of escape, but after going through all my ideas this seems to be my best bet. So it is decided, I will spend as much time as it takes to become a master swordsman capable of breaking through the barrier.
