The Earth After Rebirth

Chapter 397 First Jump

For what felt like eternity, Kiro's body was ripped and mended a thousand times. He was in an unknown space, he couldn't see or feel. He just was and existing.

He'd seen a lot of pain in his life, this was nothing he wasn't already used to. Even if he wanted to vocalise the pain, he wouldn't have been able to.

For a moment he forgot why he was there before free falling face first on a cold wet surface. Hubris landed majestically on his feet besides him.

Kiro's kaos energy was drained, taking more than two people would kill him. He was sure of it. He was glad he didn't enter a comatose state, meaning there was a little left in him.

"You really did it master." Hubris congratulated.

He got up slowly looking around, they were on a small rock. There was water surrounding them as far as his eyes could see and his eye could see very far. It seemed to stretch endlessly, he found that it was really useless to even look for land.

"What happened...why is there no civilisation in sight." He spoke slowly, waking up from the delirious state.

He entered a fits of coughs as realisation hit him. He went back two frequencies before Hubris' world. Kiro's heart jumped out of his chest when he concluded that the ancient ones have already been through here.

"They haven't, or at least if they did they didn't find anything worthy of colonising. Life here has just begun, mere microbes but it's there." Hubris tried putting him at ease.

Kiro was a bit jealous that he couldn't use his vibrations to sense everything, his kaos energy was all but spent. He could feel how thin Kaos felt in this world, which caused another concern.

If he made the mistake of jumping into a world with no energy, what would he do? He had to expand his pathways, he had to breakthrough the stages of reality warping.

Even though his creation side of it was stolen, he surmised that he was still capable of other things. Like destroying.

As thin as Kaos was he could feel the strange energy dwelling within the depths of the oceanic waters. That's where his concentration was, he begun to siphon the energy for himself.

"Hubris, I need you to make the gravity here ten times stronger..."

Kiro hadn't even finished his sentence and he was planted to the floor. He couldn't move an inch, it took him a while for him to open his mouth.

"Dammit Hubris, at least let me finish! I haven't replenished ye...ahhh."

The sudden pressure was tugging at his pathways from every angle, stretching them to their limits and when they were settling to the new limits they were stretched further into newer heights.

"Don't worry master, I'm only helping." Hubris was waiting for Kiro to ask for his help, he couldn't believe how lax his master has grown.

The Kiro he knew would've been a hundred times stronger than what he was seeing. His master wouldn't have lost to a mere harbinger when he killed two at his weakest. That's how Kiro appeared in the eyes of his mount.

Days turned into weeks and those into months. He was standing in the shallow end of the ocean, he found that being in the water made absorbing the energy a lot easier.

Every time he was used to the gravity Hubris made it his mission to add onto it. And it didn't take him much time to get used to it, his pathways felt like they'll never be satiated again.

Large and quite empty.

"I can't create anything but I can bend it." He took a deep breathe and concentrated where he stood, "I can manipulate what already exists."

The water where he stood slowly became solid with each breathe he released. Kiro was making ice with just his breathe and it was working, with his pathways able to house more kaos energy, that opened doors for him—doors he was scared of opening in the past but not anymore.

This power would make him very dangerous, a destroyer that bulldozes through anything in its path. But that's what their army needed and he was willing to be that person to protect what he loved the most in the world.

He honed his skill at controlling kaos and for that it seemed to be bowing at his mastery. It no longer attempted to steal his sanity—maybe it knew it couldn't.

The first door opened and he walked through it without so much as hesitation. His realisation with what he can do with his skill lead him to breakthrough to yellow.

He didn't stop there, it wouldn't be enough to stop an ancient one, hell he wasn't sure there was power a human can harness that would be enough but giving up wasn't in his memo.

A whole year passed before another door opened, as he walked into it, he knew in his heart that this was it. He wouldn't be able to go further to blue and purple, the ripped parts of his skill could be felt at that moment.

Thanks to that harbinger his growth was crippled forever. He sighed. Opening his eyes, he knew he'd just have to make due with what he had. There were thousand of players, it wasn't just him.

Kiro could feel his pathways were at the brim, it had taken him a year of training but it was worth it in his eyes. He didn't just expand his pool, he broke through three stages of his ability and all it needed was a sprinkle of gravity.

"I think it's time we moved on to another."

"We aren't going back to Asgard first?" Hubris was skeptical.

"That's alright. There's nothing for us there for now, let's continue the search."

They disappeared.Nôv(el)B\\jnn
