The Dungeon Conquerors: Journey to the Peak

Chapter 318 Ch 321: Finally a Good Lead

Before entering the tavern, Rein cast a void magic spell called "Barrier of One Destination" to surround the whole place with a barrier which would stop the people inside from running away. Even though Rein had used a powerful spell, as a fifth rank mage he was able to hide his magical power very well and no one inside the tavern was able to sense it. Then Rein calmly entered the place.

Rein's appearance immediately made all the men inside to become cautious. This was a little known hidden tavern that some people were using to do shady things. So none of the people who appeared here were new faces. That was the reason why just seeing a new face like Rein was enough to make everyone alert.

Rein did not mind the attention that was put on him and instead used that to ask everyone if they knew where Letor was. Letor was the name of the man who Rein was looking for.

Hearing that this person was here for Letor, the atmosphere in the tavern became a little bit less tense. If this person was here with a clear objective then he was most probably not here to cause trouble.

Then most of the people in the tavern focused on a particular group of people. Unlike the previous location, this place was housing not just the members of the Ghost of Youtu gang. If there was a need, Rein was very much willing to beat or kill all the people here for his objective but if there was no need he was also fine to leave everyone alone except for his targets. The group of people who were at the centre of attention now were a bit nervous. They were newcommers here and they did not have the power of their glory days. So all in all they were having trouble settling down in the city.

But in this situation, not answering was out of question. So an older looking man who looked to be the oldest in the group decided to start the conversation with Rein.

He was unaware of Rein identity but he was able to feel that Rein was not simple and was probably quite powerful. So he was cautious with the way he spoke but he did not immediately told Rein where Letor was and instead asked why he was asking for Letor.

Rein could have just beat the information out of him but instead he decided to first try a less violent method. According to the information that he had gotten, Letor was supposed to be here at this moment but even with his spatial sense he could not find anyone who matched the description of Letor.

So instead of beating the members of the Ghost of Youtu, Rein told them that he had given some money to Letor and was here to take it back. This excuse did not create any suspicion among the members of the Ghost of Youtu as Letor was infamous for borrowing money from a lot of people. Rein only gave this excuse because he was aware of that.

The old man was not willing to just throw one of his fellow colleagues under the carriage but at the same time he was also unwilling to get into confrontation because of someone else's fault. So he decided to tell Rein Letor's location.n/ô/vel/b//jn dot c//om

After getting the new location, Rein immediately left the tavern which relaxed the old man even more. As they were runaways, he was still cautious about Rein. But after seeing that Rein left immediately after getting the information, he was finally able to relax and withdraw his intentions of finding a new base.

...

After leaving the tavern, Rein quickly went toward the new location that he was given. It turned out that Letor suddenly got ill and had to go to a healer to check his condition. But for criminals like them, only a few places could give treatment. So currently Rein was going toward one such location where a underground healer was.

As soon as Rein got close to the place of the healer, he was able to sense the presence of Letor. Rein was finally able to relax as now he would definitely get his hands on the man. But he did not hurry inside and just waited outside the healer's place for Letor to come out.

...

After about an hour, Letor finally came out. He was looking fine after getting the treatment from the healer but that did not last for long. Just when he reached a silent corner of the street, he suddenly found himself in a dark back alley. Before he could understand anything, Rein appeared before him.

Rein had used his void magic to bring Letor to this empty back alley. He had also cast a barrier here to keep everyone away from the location. So here Rein would be able to interrogate this man to his heart's content.

Letor had an affinity for magic but it was not that good and he was also just an unranked mage. So after getting caught, he had no chance of running away from Rein's hands.

But still he did try to struggle a little bit but after feeling just a little bit of pain and realising that Rein was on a whole another level than him, he folded without much delay.

Soon Rein started to ask him questions about his ancestor and soon it became clear that he was at least not lying about being related to Jakery.

This man was able to answer several questions that Rein had only known from the official documents and a regular person had no ways to know about it. So if this guy was not related to Jakery in some ways, he should not have any idea about those things.

Then finally Rein asked him about Jakery and about his life. It turned out that he did not knew much about it only knew that his ancestor was a great rank 5 mage.

Just as Rein was about to be disappointed, Jakery told him about a book that his grand father had written. This book was never published and was in the form of just a few hand written papers. According to Letor, his grandfather had researched Jakery quite a bit and had managed to find a lot of information. He wanted to write an autobiography of him but for some reason even after finishing the book, he never released it.

After Letor handed the book to Rein, he knocked Letor out. Then he finally Rein opened the hand written book.

So would Rein be able to get his answers from this book ?
