Chapter 70 Chapter 55: Total Annihilation of the Army

70  Chapter 55: Total Annihilation of the Army

US Army soldiers saw the drone's ferocity, that a single dive attack took out an air defense position and killed more than a dozen comrades, leaving all of them shaken with fear. They had always fought with the advantage of superior air support, never having experienced an attack by enemy air superiority; they were extremely unaccustomed to it.

However, experienced as they were, the US soldiers did not panic despite being at a disadvantage. Under the command of their leaders, they fired all their Stinger surface-to-air missiles in preparation to attack the drone in the sky. Meanwhile, other soldiers sought cover and opened fire at the drone.

As the drone prepared for another dive attack, it saw four trails of fire coming from below. Scanned by quantum radar, the Auxiliary Brain quickly locked on to the trajectory of the incoming missiles. The drone promptly adjusted its nose direction, and the Vulcan Gun quickly opened fire. With just over thirty cannon rounds, it destroyed all four Stinger missiles in mid-air, creating four sparks and once again showcasing its terrifying missile interception capability.

The drone dealt with the incoming missile attack, then its body shook as it fired four Hellfire missiles, targeting the four Stinger missile launch positions on the ground. Explosions rocked the ground followed by four thunderous blasts, completely destroying the four missile launch positions and causing heavy casualties among the soldiers protecting them.

The drone's wave of missile attacks caused huge casualties among the US soldiers on the ground. Even by a rough estimate, at least half of the soldiers were casualties. Although the US soldiers' plight was dire, the drone's attack did not cease. Its quantum radar quickly scanned the area, displaying all the US soldiers taking cover and shooting at the drone. It dove again, directing its attack at these remaining forces.

After losing their anti-aircraft missiles, the US soldiers could no longer deal with the drone's attacks. Machine gun bullets, even if they reached the drone, could not penetrate its mutated body, causing no damage. These soldiers could only watch helplessly as the drone flew overhead and rained down Vulcan Gun cannon rounds to finish them off.

Under the relentless attack of the drone, the number of US soldiers on the ground decreased rapidly until, in the end, only a group of US soldiers hiding behind a huge rock was left, barely clinging to life.

When the drone attacked them, they were sheltered behind the hard rock, beyond the reach of its cannon fire, and the small entrance was impenetrable even to the missiles, truly inaccessible for attacks.

Yan Fei observed the terrain and realized that these men had taken cover in what was, theoretically, a blind spot for attacks. However, there was a protruding rock ledge above them. He maneuvered the drone to pivot its gun and fired a Hellfire anti-tank missile at the protruding rock ledge, but the missile's power was insufficient to bring down the ledge. The drone fired another Hellfire missile at the same spot, finally causing the rock ledge to collapse.

As the cliff crumbled, all the US soldiers below were buried under the rubble, doomed if no assistance came from outside. A few US soldiers, sensing the danger, left their rocky shelter a step earlier, thus escaping the fate of being crushed by the debris. But it did not save them from their destiny of doom, as leaving the shelter exposed them to the intense fire of the drone's cannon, and they all met a violent end.

With this, the US armed force was completely annihilated. All sixteen of the drone's missiles had been expended, and the Vulcan Gun's ammunition had been used up in the fierce combat. This was Yan Fei's first time to fully utilize the drone's combat capacity, but he was somewhat tense during the attack, failing to control the consumption of missiles and cannon rounds, resulting in significant wastage and exhausting all the ammunition.

Although he had squandered the drone's ammunition, Yan Fei was gratified that all the enemies were eliminated. As long as he could find the body of that blonde woman and retrieve the rusty gear, his mission in Africa would be completely successful. Given that the rusty gear was a crucial component for the drone's upgrade, it was not likely to be easily destroyed by weapons. Even if the blonde woman was killed by a cannon round, the gear would remain unscathed. Even if the gear was shattered, the drone was not picky; it could still extract the necessary Raw Materials from the fragments to meet the conditions for an upgrade. n/o/vel/b//in dot c//om

The data for the drone was refreshed after midnight in Nairobi local time. The drone had traveled a long distance, taking three and a half hours from the territorial waters near the Maldives to Yan Fei's location at Mount Kilimanjaro, where it then engaged in a fierce air battle. The drone's Energy Points had been depleted significantly, with less than 1000 points remaining.

Previously, to save Energy Points, Yan Fei had even restricted the scanning range of the Quantum Radar, which led to his failure to detect the nearby presence of the US Army's F-16 fighter jets. They ambushed him, nearly causing his demise.

Now in control of the situation, Yan Fei calculated the drone's remaining flight time and had no choice but to have the drone depart the area and head back to the Kenyan Coastline. There, it was to find a place to hide on the seabed. Otherwise, the drone would not have enough Energy Points to make it back to the sea.

Although the drone had vertical takeoff and landing capabilities and could hide in the primitive depths of the forest, the US Army had just suffered a setback here and would certainly return to settle scores. Even if the drone hid deep within the forest, as long as the US Army deployed their ubiquitous satellites to search the vicinity, they might locate the drone.

Despite the drone's valor, it was running out of Energy Points, and with its weapon supply depleted, facing a multitude of advanced US fighter jets would only result in its destruction or capture by the enemy. Thus, for safety, Yan Fei had to instruct the drone to leave first – after all, nobody would think that a drone could actually hide on the ocean floor.

Moreover, the drone's previous attack had eliminated all threats to Yan Fei, who was not facing significant danger at the moment. He just needed to find the blonde woman, acquire what he needed, and then leave and return home – everything would be perfect.

So, Yan Fei watched the drone depart. As it left, the drone expended what little remained of its Energy Points to perform a comprehensive scan of a 500-kilometer radius and found no aircraft in the vicinity, which allowed Yan Fei to relax and instruct the drone to leave quickly. The drone's Energy Points were bottoming out, and it had to leave soon, or it wouldn't have enough power to return to the coast.

Hiding in a cave, Yan Fei controlled the drone to annihilate the US Army forces, earning a large number of Merit Points. But right now, he didn't have time to check the exact amount of Merit, as he had more pressing matters to attend to. He began searching the areas the drone had attacked, where corpses in tatters lay everywhere. Although the corpses were too disfigured to be recognized, one could still discern what they were wearing. The blonde woman's attire differed from that of these soldiers. Yan Fei simply needed to locate a body dressed differently from the US military soldiers.

Yan Fei swiftly navigated through the dense forest, examining the corpses he found. However, to his surprise, after searching all of the locations struck by the drone, he found no trace of the blonde woman's body. To avoid any error, Yan Fei meticulously checked each body, so it was impossible that he had missed the blonde woman's corpse.

The drone's Quantum Radar was incredibly advanced, having already scanned the jungle below in its entirety, with all humanoid creatures recorded into the Quantum Radar. Then, the drone attacked these marked humanoids, aiming to eliminate them all. The blonde woman couldn't have moved beyond the Quantum Radar's scanning range so quickly, so she must have been marked. But now she was nowhere to be found. Where could the blonde woman have gone? Had she been obliterated in the drone's attack?

As Yan Fei pondered the situation, unable to figure it out, even suspecting the blonde woman might be buried under the last pile of rubble and about to start clearing it, he suddenly heard the roar of a beast from afar. The roar was abruptly cut short, as though someone had shouted and then had their mouth covered.

His interest piqued, Yan Fei quickly ran towards the source of the sound, only to see a leopard lying on the ground, with a person underneath it. In the bright moonlight, Yan Fei saw that the person under the leopard was a woman, and more precisely, the blonde woman he had been searching for. At that moment, she looked incredibly ragged, with a severe injury on her stomach, a gash that almost revealed her intestines.

Upon seeing this scene, Yan Fei instantly understood. The blonde woman had been seriously injured in the drone's attack; then, seeing the US soldiers hiding and being killed one after another by the drone, she reckoned the drone might be equipped with infrared capabilities. She came across a leopard and subdued it, hiding under its body in an attempt to evade the infrared radar.

But what the blonde woman didn't understand was that it wasn't the infrared radar that had precisely detected their positions; instead, it was the more advanced Quantum Radar. However, even Quantum Radars could make mistakes. During scanning, it identified only the silhouette of the leopard and thus did not target it, not realizing an enemy lay hidden beneath it. Due to this twist of fate, the blonde woman narrowly escaped death.

However, the blonde woman was gravely wounded and was losing a great deal of strength, gradually unable to control the leopard, which led to the animal's roar. Although she immediately covered the leopard's mouth, she still unintentionally drew the highly alert Yan Fei to her location.
