Chapter 445 A Small Condition
"You actually gave it to him?" Chi 96 asked with a look of astonishment as he looked at Chi 118.
"What could I have done? He was reckless, but I had to be cautious. You know very well how much Lord Heavenly Emperor cares about his pride. That scoundrel insisted I was the one who tore the painting; how was I to defend myself?" Chi 118 was clearly vexed.
"Nobody would believe you tore the painting, right?" asked Chi 96.
"He came to me with the painting, demanding money. No matter the outcome of this situation being exposed, with the temperament of the Heavenly Emperor, he would be doomed. Any sane person would think it's impossible for him to tear the painting, wouldn't they? If it wasn't him, who else could it be?
Even if you all know that I wouldn't be foolish enough to tear it, would the Heavenly Emperor believe it?
Even if the Heavenly Emperor knows I didn't do it, he would still never let me off," Chi 118 grew more and more furious as he spoke, cursing: "Damn it, if I'd known that guy was a life-forsaking mad dog, coming for money at the cost of his own life, I would have just paid him from the start, saving myself from such loss."
"You're right about that, but now that you've given the money, others don't know how it was given. If the Heavenly Emperor uses this as a breakthrough, how will you handle it?" Chi 96 sighed.
Chi 118 snorted coldly, "I gave the money, but whether he can take it back is his own problem."
"Are you planning to take action against him? Isn't it a bit too conspicuous to do it now? And since he's already doomed, what's the point of targeting him now?" Chi 96 was somewhat astonished. Experience more tales on empire
"Since he decided to play dirty, I can't be blamed for not following the rules. I have the evidence; I gave what was necessary. If he can't take it back, surely the Heavenly Emperor can't blame me," Chi 118 said expressionlessly. "Moreover, I don't plan to do it myself, nor do I plan to take back the object.
I must make my stance known to everybody, or else I really won't be able to mix in these circles anymore. He can take my resources, but he must leave his life. Then we'll see who else dares to blackmail with their life."
"With Tian Xun providing him protection, and Kong Chuan guarding him, it won't be easy to kill him here. How do you plan to go about it?" Chi 96 pondered.
"Doesn't he still have to extort money from An 117? Regardless of whether he gets the money or not, make sure he dies after leaving there," said Chi 118, gritting his teeth. "It just so happens we need to meet with that person. Let him do it."
"With that person taking action, his death is guaranteed. That's actually a good idea – stir the waters first before acting. If he really gets the money from An 117, taking it back could help recoup some of our losses," Chi 96 said with a smile.
"Let's go see that person right now and settle things to avoid further complications," urged Chi 118, unable to wait another moment.
The two hurriedly left the castle, heading towards a deserted island in the middle of the sea.
Before long, the two arrived at a cave on the desolate island.
Inside the cave stood a tombstone, and a man with long hair, pale complexion, wearing a top hat and a dinner suit sat on top of the tombstone, watching Chi 118 and Chi 96 with a smirk.
"Have you come to a decision?" the man lifted his head, revealing a pair of blood-red eyes that looked at Chi 118 with interest.
"Ye Ya, I agree to cooperate with you according to our previous agreement, but I have one small condition," Chi 118 stated bluntly.
"Oh? What condition?" Ye Ya asked with a smile.
"You have to help me kill someone."
"Who?"
"Tian, the Head of the Celestial Master Institute, currently on Giant Ring Star."
"The Head of the Celestial Master Institute, that's a big fish."
"Just an Ascender, not really such a big fish. However, there is a Nirvana Being from the Peacock Clan protecting him – someone who has undergone Nirvana at least seven times, very tough to deal with. If you can't do it, then our deal is off," Chi 118 said.
"It seems you really hate Tian. Well then, here's to a successful collaboration," Ye Ya said with a smile.
"You've just returned from Nirvana, are there any problems? That person must die, and you only have one chance," Chi 118 emphasized with some unease.
"Asking me to kill the Heavenly Emperor, I really don't have the ability. To kill an Ascender, not to mention a peacock clan's Nirvana Being, even if God himself came, he couldn't save his life," Ye Ya gracefully leaped down from the tombstone, his blood-red eyes staring at Chi 118 as he said, "However, don't forget your promise, otherwise I won't mind killing a few more people."
"As long as you kill that person, there will be no accidents," Chi 118 said coldly.
…
Lin Shen and his companions brought the goods back to Paradise Island, but Tian Xun still hadn't returned.
"Tian Xin, you help me check the inventory; I have to make another trip to An 117's place," Lin Shen said, handing over the items and accounts to Tian Xin.
"You have a second painting?" Tian Xin looked at Lin Shen with a strange expression, thinking that Lin Shen had gone mad.
Even if he demanded money and got it all, he wouldn't have a life to enjoy it.
"No," Lin Shen shook his head.
"Without it, how are you going to ask for money?" Tian Xin couldn't understand what Lin Shen was thinking.
"Let's try and see, what if they are willing to give?" Lin Shen said without elaborating, and took Kong Chuan with him as they left Paradise Island once again.
This time Tian Xin didn't insist on following, now regretting that he had accompanied Lin Shen to Chi 118's to collect the debt.
Following Lin Shen, he started to doubt if his heart was not very good, always at risk of falling ill.n/ô/vel/b//in dot c//om
He really didn't want to get too involved in this sort of thing, for fear of dying without even knowing how.
Kong Chuan followed Lin Shen to the An Family, looking quite complicated. He had already sent the day's events as a message to the Heavenly Consort, waiting for her response.
In his view, Lin Shen was a madman; only a madman could do those things, and only a madman would be reckless with his life.
The Heavenly Consort read Kong Chuan's message, her face filled with astonishment on the first read.
She had given Lin Shen a self-portrait of the Heavenly Emperor, never expecting Lin Shen to use it this way, nor did she think that Lin Shen would dare to tear it up.
The Heavenly Consort had a moment of speculation, whether the self-portrait Lin Shen ripped was a fake he had made himself.
But this thought was immediately dismissed by the Heavenly Consort herself, knowing that a fake certainly wouldn't fool Chi 118.
The Heavenly Consort read and reread Kong Chuan's message several times, and gradually a smile formed on her face.
"Quite the daring one, indeed capable of anything. If he can survive and continue to sit as the Head of the Celestial Master Institute, maybe he really can revitalize it," the Heavenly Consort murmured to herself, "If he actually manages it, perhaps this will be my opportunity as well."
Kong Chuan was anxiously waiting for the Heavenly Consort's reply, truly not knowing how to handle the current situation, as Lin Shen's actions had gone beyond his comprehension.
Before they arrived at An 117's residence, Kong Chuan finally received the Heavenly Consort's reply: "Do your best to ensure his safety, let him return alive to Sky Pinnacle Star. If the task is impossible, prioritize your own safety above all else."
