Chapter 122: Chapter 122: A Schnee’s Ignorance



[3rd POV]

"No wonder she was defending them so much, she was a member of the White Fang!" Weiss sounded out, as the group walked the streets of Vale. They were trying to find Blake, who had run off after Weiss's racist rant. Penny had went her separate way after saying bye to Gwen and the group

"Or maybe it was because you were sounding racist as fuck?" Gwen commented with an eyeroll, as the heiress looked at her with a scowl.

"How was I sounding racist? I didn't do anything wrong!" Weiss replied with a scowl. Both Ruby and Yang looked at her with uncomfortable expressions, as they also agreed with Gwen. What she had said was not only wrong, but also pretty racist, and just plain rude.

"You literally said that faunus only know how to lie, cheat, and steal" Gwen deadpanned, looking at the girl who rolled her eyes. Weiss didn't seem to care about what she said, and only doubled down on it. Gwen knew that it was mostly due to her fathers influence that she thought this way, but it was still annoying.

"Yeah well if the White Fang is anything to go by, I'd say it's accurate" Weiss replied as Ruby and Yang both looked at her with frowns. Neither of them were liking the way this

conversation was going, and they were beginning to get annoyed with the way she was treating Gwen and Blake.

"Weiss..." "What? It's true and you know it!" Weiss cut her off. Gwen just looked at her like she was an idiot before speaking.

"You know I am standing right here, right? And I'm a faunus too, does that mean I'm a liar, cheater, and thief?" Gwen asked, looking down at Weiss who rolled her eyes.

"Of course not! I don't really like you, but even I know you wouldn't do something like that" Weiss replied as if it was obvious.

"And what about Blake? Velvet? And all the other faunus in Beacon that you have met? Or the faunus that we walk passed in the streets of Vale, are they liars, thieves, and cheats as well?" Gwen asked, watching as Weiss went silent.

"Look, I know you like to think that you had it bad, Weiss, but trust me, you know absolutely nothing of what faunus have to go through every day. And while I haven't had it that bad, I know Blake and many others have. So I'd suggest you get your head out of your ass and start thinking of how they feel, and to stop judging them so much when people like your father are far worse than they could ever be" Gwen continued as Weiss scowled.

"My father is-!" "A horrible person, Weiss. The man has faunus slaves working in his mines, and is a part of the reason why the White Fang attacks your family so much. The man is awful, and he does it all for some money, money that matters little in the face of grimm attacks" Gwen cut her off, causing Weiss to look at her in surprise.

"What, did you think they attack your family for no reason? No, they attack your family because your father is racist, sexist, and an awful human being. How do you think all that dust your family is known for, is mined? By humans? By machines? No, it's all mined through faunus, faunus that are forcefully worked in the mines, and are slaves in all but name" Gwen continued.

Sadly, this was the truth. Thanks to the sight of Heimdall, she could see all the mines that Weiss's family ran, and the sheer amount of faunus that not only work in them, but die in them. They don't get paid for their work, don't get proper amounts of food and water, and are viciously attacked whenever they don't listen to one of the human workers. Aka they were basically slaves, even if it was supposed to be illegal in the entirety of Remnant, and had been for a long time.

"Y-you're lying" Weiss stuttered, refusing to believe what Gwen had said.

"You don't have to believe me, Weiss. Just ask that sister of yours about it. But either way, we have more important things to do right now, like finding Blake and stopping her from doing anything stupid" Gwen said, as Weiss looked shaken, but found herself following Gwen either way.

Later in the day, several hours later, and closer to night, the group had finally found Blake. Mostly due to Gwen subtly pushing them towards some warehouses on the docks, where a shit ton of Schnee dust was held, and where Blake was currently battling it out with the White Fang, Roman Torchwick, and his goons. Alongside her was the faunus from earlier, a teen named Sun Wukong (no, not the monkey king).

Penny had seemingly found her way back to the group, and was currently with them, deciding to aid them in their attempts to find Blake.

Seeing Torchwick standing over the downed form of Sun ready to kill the teen, Ruby shouted out "Hey!" before bringing out her scythe.

"Oh! Hello red, isn't it past your bedtime?" Torchwick said as he noticed Ruby, only to frown slightly as he noticed Weiss, Yang, Penny, and Gwen standing nearby.

"So that's Torchwick? He's....kinda underwhelming to be honest" Yang said with an unimpressed look on her face.

"Yeah, that's him. Penny, do you think you could take care of the bullheads that are incoming while we take care of the goons?" Gwen asked the girl who tilted her head before nodding.

"I am combat ready!" She said before leaping from the stack of storage containers they were standing on. Watching her go, Weiss couldn't help but comment.

"Is she going to be okay?"

"Hmm? Oh yeah she'll be fine. For now, let's take out the little goons" Gwen said as they all nodded, following after Penny. With Gwen humming as she did.

'This shouldn't take long'

And it didn't. The goons were all...laughably weak and had very little in terms of training. Gwen took out over 50 of them single handedly, while team RWBY took care of the rest, and Penny took out the bullheads that attempted to help out.

Now they were all sitting around, quietly watching as Blake and Weiss spoke.

"Weiss, I want you to know that I'm no longer associated to the White Fang, back when I was with-" "Stop, do you have any idea how long we've been looking for you? 10 hours! That means I've had 10 hours to to think about this. And in that 10 hours I've decided...I don't care!" Weiss said, cutting Blake off.

"You don't care?"

"You said your not one of them anymore, right?"

"No I haven't been since I was younger-" "Ah bup bup, I don't want to hear it. All I want to know is that the next time something this big comes up, you'll come to your teammates, and not some...someone else"n/ô/vel/b//jn dot c//om

"...Of course" Blake said, wiping a stray tear, before Weiss turned to Gwen.

"And Gwen I'm...really sorry about what I said. I...you're right, my father...is not a good man. And I won't lie and say that I know what he's been doing and about the mines but...I'll do everything in my power to make sure it stops happening, for good" Weiss said genuinely as Gwen looked at her, before smiling softly and replying.

"That's good enough for me, Weiss...more than enough"
