Chapter 1217: Interrogating demons (1)
After looking at the strange orb for a bit, I didn't go and pick it up.
Instead, I used the Staff of Earth to create a hand out of the dirt to pick up the orb.
There was nothing that happened when the hand of dirt picked up the orb, so it didn't seem like there was any form of corruption energy that was inside of the orb. This orb just seemed like it was nothing more than an ordinary orb.
After looking at it for a bit, I put it into my Storage Ring.
For now, there was something more important to take care of rather than trying to figure out what was special about this orb.
When the orb was put into the Storage Ring, I turned my attention to the demons that had surrendered.
The ones that ran were cut down, but the ones that surrendered were herded into a group and gathered together so they wouldn't do anything. With the way that they were cowering, it didn't seem like they would do anything, but no one let their guards down for even a moment.
With the way that they spread out, it seemed that the different tribes of demons weren't that close to each other. It seemed that they would rather stay with their own tribe than huddle with demons from another tribe.
It was interesting to see this bias between the different demons, but I also pulled myself back from this thought.
"Grab them." I said after pointing at a group of demons.n/o/vel/b//in dot c//om
The soldiers didn't hesitate to separate these demons from the rest of the group and bring them aside to a tent that we had prepared for them.
The demons looked surprised and seemed like they wanted to fight for a second before they suddenly fell into line. It was as if all of the fight was suddenly drained out of them with the way that they suddenly deflated like that.
That was the reason that I chose this group.
I had been observing the demons during the fight and the thing that I had paid attention to was the different tribes of demons.
I had been looking for those that seemed to have weak wills, those that would break easily so that I could pick them off and create holes in the lines of the demon army. But this quality was also helpful for interrogating these demons.
Those that were cowardly were those that were easy to break and get information from. That was why I chose these demons that had been hiding behind others during the fight.
When I stepped into the tent, I got a good look at these demons.
From their appearances, I could tell that these were imps.
They were a lower race of demons that weren't considered that strong, but they had special abilities such as strange spells and the ability to fly. In an army, they would be useful to support other soldiers.
But in terms of combat ability, they were weak.
They were even trembling now even though there was the dark corruption energy that was on their skins.
When they saw me approach them, they looked even more afraid.
That was because these imps had seen Zwein on the back of Joan before, so they thought of him as a terrifying person since he could control that large wyvern.
I didn't say anything as I approached them, but I did have a cold and serious look on my face as I came forward.
I was hoping that it would be enough to pressure them and it seemed like it worked much better than I thought.
"Please just let us go. Or we'll even serve you as long as you let us live."
The imps started begging when I came closer to them.
Since they were surrounded and couldn't run, the only thing that they could do was beg for their lives which they did right away. These imps didn't even seem to have any pride in them as they begged for their lives.
It was as if they were ready to betray everything that they stood for as long as they could live. There was a satisfied feeling that filled me when I saw them like this.
After all, it was only demons in this state that would give us the information that we wanted. "Tell me what your reason for attacking us is and I'll consider it." I said in a cold voice.
Only this time it didn't seem as effective as the imps looked like they were all hesitating. They looked at each other with these hesitant looks and it didn't seem like any of them were willing to say anything.
It seemed that they were afraid to say anything.
Seeing this, I didn't hesitate to raise the button that Aquaron gave me and said, "If you don't speak, then I promise that you'll be sorry."
The imps had terrified looks on their faces as they looked at the button.
It was as if they could tell what kind of terrifying thing this was.
It was better to say that the corruption energy that filled them told them what kind of thing this button was. That was why they were afraid when it was taken out like this.
After a long moment of silence, I said with a sigh, "I see, that's how it is."
As soon as my voice fell, the button started to glow as if something was about to happen.
The imps all trembled in fear when they saw this before one of them said, "Wait, wait, I'll talk, I'll talk!"
Once this imp said this, I didn't move the button further forward and the light still remained, but nothing else changed.
The imp bit his lip when he saw this before saying, "The reason that we..."
Before he could even finish what he was saying, there was a loud roar that came from him.
It didn't come out of the mouth of the imp, but rather it came in the form of the corruption energy bursting forth from his body.
