Chapter 1209: Repelling demons (4)
All of the demon commanders seemed to be changing shape after absorbing the dark corruption energy that they gathered.
It started with them growing in size at first, but then it seemed like their figures were changing as well.
It seemed that there were spikes that were growing on their bodies and it seemed like they were growing different kinds of appendages. Some of them gained extra hands, some of them gained tentacles, some of them gained strange things that couldn't be described with normal words.
In short, they became even more demonic than they currently were.
However, it wasn't just the appearance of the demon commanders that changed, it was also the aura around them that changed along with their appearances.
After their appearances changed to make them more demonic, their aura also became much more powerful.
There was no doubt that they had become more powerful after absorbing all of that dark corruption energy.
It seemed that this was one of the trump cards of this detachment demon army.
The ones that were the closest to the demon commanders was still Moon and her group of elves since she had been planning to attack it. And at the same time, it didn't seem like she was planning on stopping.
Even though the demon commander changed and became stronger, it didn't seem like Moon had any intentions of stopping her attack.
She and the other elves drew back their bows before sending their arrows out at the demon commander.
The problem was that the demon commander's skin had become too thick for their arrows to pierce through. Even though they used magic to strengthen their arrows, it still wasn't strong enough to pierce the skin of the demon commanders.
With how the arrows snapped, it was almost as if the demon commander's skin was made of stone.
That was just how much they had been strengthened by the dark corruption energy that they absorbed.
Since none of the arrows had pierced the skin of the demon commander, it seemed to put Moon and her elves in a bad position.
They didn't have time to reload their bows, so they had no choice but to fight in close range. Even though they were trained for it, against this mutated demon commander...it seemed like it wouldn't be a good idea to fight against it in close range.
Only they didn't have a choice in the matter.
Moon and the other elves pulled out their swords and prepared for a fight, but the demon commander wasn't the only one that they had to fight.
With the opening that they gave them, the demons actually came forward to surround Moon and the other elves.
They would have to fight their way through these demons if they even wanted to escape. But it wasn't as if the demon commander would let them run away that easily after being attacked by them.
The demon commander's attention was on Moon and the other elves, so there was no doubt that it wanted to take them out.
Moon knew that they were in a bad spot, so she raised the branch of the Tree of Life in her hands as if she wanted to use it.
The moment that this branch appeared, it seemed to draw the attention of all of the demons around them.
The way that the demons looked at Moon and the branch of the Tree of Life that she held...
The hostility that was in their eyes...
It wasn't normal.
It seemed that there was some kind of reaction that the demons felt from the branch of the Tree of Life that made them hostile towards her.
Was it because this was a branch that contained divine power from Vivrum?
Did they recognize that it was the thing that could actually hurt them, which was why they wanted to take care of it as soon as possible?
Regardless of what it was, it didn't seem like they were planning on letting her go.
So the demons quickly reached out with their various limbs, as if they wanted to grab her. The elves did what they could to hold back the demons, but there were just too many demons in the end. There were some of the limbs of the demons that made it past the elves.
This was a perfect chance for the demons to attack the elves, but it seemed like they weren't interested in the elves at all. It seemed like they only wanted to take down Moon since she was the one that could hurt them.
Seeing this, Moon had no choice but to use the branch from the Tree of Life to create roots that came out of the ground to grab these limbs.
The moment that these roots made contact with these limbs, it was as if they started burning the limbs of the demons.
The demons had looks of pain appear on their faces, but it also seemed like they were enduring the pain with the way that they didn't pull their limbs back. It seemed like they wanted to keep Moon in this place for as long as possible.n/o/vel/b//in dot c//om
That was because...
"Roar!"
With a roar, the demon commander started releasing its various limbs as well.
These were all kinds of limbs that started making their way towards Moon, but they came faster than the ones that the other demons released.
She just didn't have the time to use the branch from the Tree of Life at all to stop it.
Even if she did, there were just too many limbs for her to summon enough roots to stop them
all.
No matter how Moon looked at it, it seemed like the demon commander's attack was about to
reach her.
So the only thing that she could do was...
Gritting her teeth, Moon braced herself to take the attack while using her body to keep the
branch from the Tree of Life safe.
As long as it was safe, she could find a way to fight back.
Only, she never felt the limbs reach her.
"Pow!"
There was only a loud sound that came from above her that sounded like flesh making contact.
