Chapter 685 Who's older?
"I don't want you trying to fight him or trying to look down at him every chance you get." Ariel looked very serious when she said that to Damien.
Damien pouted a little because she didn't ask the same to Kenneth first. To him, Kenneth was the one who always tried to pick a fight with him by saying stupid things like 'my place, my rule' and things like that.
He furrowed his brows a little and replied to Ariel in a resolute voice, "Well, if he doesn't get on my nerves then I will try to get along with him. But I cannot promise that to you since he keeps on getting in my way and keeps on making me angry."
Ariel sighed because she knew that the two of them wouldn't be able to get along with each other. Both of them wanted her. She didn't know whom she wanted to have a romantic relationship with. And she hadn't given a clear answer to either of them. Which led to both of them fighting for her attention.
She knew that sooner or later, she would have to choose one of them. She wished that she could do that now to avoid the unnecessary clash between Damien and Kenneth.
However, at the moment, she was so confused about her own feelings that she wanted to deny both of them just so she could have peace of heart and mind.
Ariel then looked at Damien again and said, "If you cannot promise to get along with him then at least try not to actively engage in a verbal spat with him."
Damien gave a nod and agreed, "I will try my best… to avoid him."
"Um…" Ariel pressed her lips together and nodded with a disapproving look on her face. "I didn't mean to say that you should avoid him but…" she shrugged and completed her sentence, "…it's your call."
Kenneth swooshed in like a gust of wind and stood next to Ariel. He glanced at Damien and then looked back at Ariel.
And he informed the Princess, "The servants are bringing in the horses. We will head out shortly."
"Ah! That's great." Ariel put a smile on her face and then showed her excitement, "I can't wait to see what your Kingdom has to offer."
Kenneth proudly said, "It has a lot to offer. I hope all of you will enjoy it to your fullest."
Ariel gave a nod and said, "I'm sure we will."
Damien was waiting for Kenneth to go and inform the others so that he could avoid the hybrid.
However, Kenneth kept on standing beside Ariel with no intention to leave Ariel alone with the demon.
As Kenneth wasn't leaving Ariel's side, Damien subtly turned around. However, instead of walking away from there and joining the rest of the group or standing literally anywhere but near Kenneth, Damien walked backward and then stood on the other side of Ariel.
There was an uneasy silence among the three of them for a while.
Damien finally broke the silence. He leaned a little towards Ariel and asked in a whisper, "Ary, we can use gold instead of coins in this part of Earth, right?"
Ariel wasn't completely sure so she turned to look at Kenneth.
Kenneth didn't know what kind of game Damien was playing now but he nodded his head.
Ariel then replied to Damien, "It seems like you can. Why do you ask though? Is there something you want to buy here?"
Damien had thought that maybe he would want to buy something for Ariel. But he didn't want to tell her beforehand and ruin the surprise. So he pointed his brows at the twins and Zach, and said, "I thought that maybe I could buy some clothes for them."
"That's very thoughtful of you," Ariel unintentionally praised Damien.
Kenneth felt a little jealous, so he announced to Damien, "You don't need to worry about them. As they are my guests and as I was the one who made the mistake, I should be responsible for buying clothes for them."
Ariel instantly pressed her lips together since she knew that another verbal war was unavoidable now.
And just like she had guessed, Damien gave a side glare to Kenneth and said adamantly, "But I am talking about gold here. Isn't it good for the economy of your Kingdom if I spend my gold? You don't have to waste your royal reserve."
Kenneth gave a mirthless smile to Damien and said, "It's not a waste if I spend it on my guests now, is it?"
Damien had a mouthful of answers for Kenneth. However, he sighed in frustration because he didn't want to fight when Ariel was right there. So he tried to end the conversation by saying, "Ugh! You and I need to have a proper talk in private after this visit."
Kenneth smirked and replied spitefully, "Why? You want to beg me to be your older brother and ask me to take you under my wing?"
"Ha!" Damien completely turned to face Kenneth and scoffed in disbelief. He was ready to throw some insults at Kenneth but then his eyes fell on the short lady who was face-palming herself and standing in between them.
So Damien tried to brush off the matter by saying, "I'm pretty confident that you are way too younger than me. So don't try to assert dominance by announcing that you are older than me. Now don't bother me anymore. I don't want a fight."
Kenneth smirked thinking Damien was backing off because he was younger than him for sure. So he confidently said, "I know I am older. So you should respect me, if not as a Crown Prince then most certainly based on seniority."
"You should be respecting me. I'm 21." Damien turned to face away from Kenneth.n/ô/vel/b//in dot c//om
"And so am I. How many months?" Kenneth wasn't going to let the matter rest.
Damien rolled his eyes and said with confidence, "Two whole months."
Kenneth grinned as if he had gained victory over Damien. And he proudly boasted, "Three. See, I told you I am older."
Damien curled up his upper lip in disdain and gave a corner glance to Kenneth. He didn't have a better answer so he just mumbled, "Shut up!"
Kenneth was enjoying seeing Damien pouting in agitation. He laughed and teasingly said, "Come on! That's not a way to talk to me. You should show some respect for your older brother."
