Chapter 654 Retracing the Steps - V
"Now what do I do with this?" Damien was glaring at the mess he had caused when he suddenly felt blood-high.
The red in his irises became prominent. He felt a great rush in every inch of his body. And he felt this unexplainable fuzziness in his chest.
"Ahhh! So is this how every vampire feels like after drinking blood?" Damien ran his fingers through his reddish-brown hair and moaned in satisfaction.
The guilt for having killed someone hadn't yet settled in his mind.
He felt a great surge of power in his body almost immediately after drinking the blood, unlike how it used to be with the aura.
Harnessing energy from aura would take time depending on how much aura one consumed. But with blood, Damien felt his body energized almost in an instant.
Damien closed his eyes and smiled. And he thought to himself, "If I run out of energy in between some fight then I can easily restore my power with human blood."
He glanced at the blood container on his waist and thought, "Maybe these are going to be more useful than I had thought."
Damien felt happy at that new discovery.
But then he looked at the dead body and frowned. "But why the hell did I kill this man? Sure, I wanted to kill him when he disrespected Ariel. But that thought had already disappeared when I went back to the guest house."
He furrowed his brows and reflected back to what had happened a while ago.
The frown lines in between his brows deepened when he recalled what had happened. "I couldn't stop myself when the blood started gushing inside my mouth. No… even before I got the taste of his blood, I wanted to kill him. I wanted to kill him the moment I set my eyes on him."
"I was completely taken over by my vampire side. I can't let this happen again. I need to be more careful. I need to learn to control that side of mine."
He took a deep breath in and focused his attention on that body again. "I can't leave this body here like this. This is a werewolf Kingdom. If they see the marks of my fangs on him then it might cause a greater problem."
After thinking for a while, Damien could only come up with one solution.
He carried the body in his arms and teleported to Hell.
He reappeared in front of his maid, Mirah.
"Master!" Mirah widened her eyes in shock the moment she saw the lifeless body that her master was carrying.
Damien looked around. They were standing in one of the many rooms of Damien's mansion. Thankfully, his mother wasn't in the vicinity, and neither were the others.
He placed the body on the floor and asked his maid, "Mirah, will you do me a favor and dispose of this body?"
Mirah was still in shock. She looked at her master in disbelief and inquired, "Did you kill this man?"
The guilt finally settled inside Damien after seeing the look on his maid's face.
He looked down at the body and nodded his head. "I couldn't control my urge. I drank his blood and..."
Mirah took a few deep breaths in and then glance at Damien. She looked at him from top to bottom and even circled around him while inspecting his body.
Damien watched her in confusion but didn't dare to ask what she was doing. He just wished that she would help him get rid of the body before his mother would find him. He didn't want Lilith to get paranoid and ban him from going to Earth yet again.
Mirah stood in front of Damien and asked, "You don't feel anything wrong with your body, right?"
Damien knitted his brows together and asked, "Should I? If you are asking if the blood did anything bad to me then, it did not. It rather provided me with instant energy surge."
Mirah frantically nodded her head and said, "Well, that's good to hear but I wasn't asking that. I meant to ask if… you got punished by the heaven dweller in some way."
"What? Why would he– Oh! Right!" Damien recalled what his mother had told him time and again. "I am the son of the demoness who he hates."
Damien then shook his head and replied to Mirah's question, "Well, he hasn't yet… and I definitely hope he doesn't."
Mirah heaved a deep sigh and mumbled, "Well, you are a half-earthling so you might be in the clear for now."
She gave a glare to Damien and scolded her master, "But that doesn't give you the pass to go around killing humans. I am warning you, young master, if you bring another body here again then I will let the Mistress know about it."
"Does that mean you will cover for me this one time?" Damien gave a pleading look to his maid.
Mirah nodded her head even though she knew that she would get severely punished by Lilith if she ever found out about this in the future.
Damien also knew what he was asking of her was not something minor. "Mirah, I am really sorry for putting you in a pickle. I had already killed this man before I knew what I was doing. And I couldn't leave that body up there. It would have probably incited an inter-racial war. So I–"
Mirah lightly patted Damien's arm and said, "Just make sure that this doesn't happen again. Else, you will anger beings from all three realms – the powerful ones from all three realms."
Damien understood what she meant to say. So he gave a nod to her.
"You're going back again?" Mirah asked after picking the body in her arms.
Damien nodded again. "I have some things to take care of. Please relay the message to my mother as well. I might stay up there for a good while."
Mirah looked at the body and asked Damien, "Will you put the invisibility spell on him?"
"Oh, right. Of course."
After Damien cast the invisibility spell, Mirah flew away with the body.
And Damien teleported back to Earth.
He had thought of talking with Ariel tonight. He even stood outside of Ariel's door. However, he couldn't bring himself to do so after killing a man just a while ago.
Besides, he heard Niylah's voice coming from Ariel's room. So he simply found an empty room and went to sleep.

"Oh hell! Why is…" Damien gagged quietly and thought, "Why is the insides of my stomach twisting like this?"
Damien was following Ariel and the others a while ago. However, he was unable to keep up with them.
He was now leaning on a corridor wall of the ship, holding his stomach, and was gagging every now and then as if he was going to throw up.
"Is that hybrid trying to kill everyone or something? My stomach is churning like hell. Why…" Damien gagged again and cursed Kenneth, "Damn that hybrid! I am going to punch him in the gut and return the favor."
Damien suddenly became alert when he heard everyone's voice. They were walking towards him.
And he panicked hearing their voices getting closer. "Oh no! What do I do?"
He was invisible at the moment. However, the corridors of the ship were narrow. If he kept on standing there in the corridor, the others would bump into him.
So, he ran towards the place that popped into his mind first – Ariel's room.
Damien rushed inside Ariel's room and looked around.
"Where do I hide?" he frantically looked around because he hadn't been inside the room before.
And before he could find a place, he heard everyone else's voice right outside the door.
"I'm invisible anyway!" he shouted in his mind and simply crouched down beside the wardrobe.
When the door flung open, he saw Kenneth carrying Ariel in his arms. He felt a pinch in his heart upon seeing them like that.
However, the jealousy from his heart quickly subsided when he saw that Ariel was also in a similar state as him.
He quietly listened to the conversation that was going on.
He heard Kenneth saying, "And if you need me then I will be on your right."
Damien sneered at Kenneth and cursed him silently, "Of course! Why wouldn't you stay right beside Ariel's room? This sly bastard!"
Damien narrowed his eyes at Kenneth and kept on watching him acting all lovey-dovey with Ariel. He would have shooed Kenneth out of the room if it wasn't for the fact that he was also helping Ariel.
Finally, when everyone left Ariel alone, and when he felt that Ariel was asleep, Damien stood up from his 'hiding' place. He went closer to Ariel's bed and gazed at her.
She would furrow her brows sometimes, while the other times she would let out a soft pain-filled breath.
It pained Damien to see her in that state.
He lovingly gazed at her and silently wished, "Get well soon, Ariel. I have a lot to say to–"
Damien suddenly gagged again. He was feeling dizzier by the second.
"Oh, I think it's coming out for real!" Damien clasped his mouth with his palm and ran towards the door with light feet.
However, right when he was about to open the door, the ship hit a slightly higher wave than normal.
Damien happened to bang his head on the door and he collapsed to the floor.
"Ariel?" he heard Niylah's voice.
Though he was invisible, he instinctively curled into a fetal position on the floor as if he was hiding from Ariel.
"I'm good. It wasn't me," Damien was startled when he heard Ariel's voice.
He slowly lifted his head to see Ariel lying still on the bed.
He sighed in relief. But he felt as if the room was spinning round and round. He closed his eyes but it got even worse.
"This is bad… I..."
Damien passed out right there on the floor.Nôv(el)B\\jnn
