Chapter 338 The tasks for the day
"Your tasks for the day are…" Selene looked down at the clipboard she held in her hand. "Checking and maintaining the progress of the central gateway, overseeing the wood-drying kiln and hopefully incorporating the helpful celestials into its work, and lastly the management of the quick-build of the new headquarters from the prefabs we brought overnight."
Going point by point, Selene mentioned all the major issues I was to take care of today. And thinking about it, whoever decided on this list really knew how to use people where they could do the most good.
When it came to the gateway, Makary likely believed I would be the best person to make sure everything worked as designed, given how I knew the most about the existence of my own gate.
When it came to the wooden kiln, or more precisely, managing the few celestials and divines that proclaimed to have some abilities that could help us dry the wood much faster, I, as the one with the best relationship with the locals, was once again, the best choice.
Lastly, the matter of building up the new office so that we could stuff all the documents and electric applicancies in a roofed area protected from wind and rain… Was nothing more but courtesy.
After all, the blueprints I saw yesterday made it clear that the selected few would be able to pick their rooms directly within the building. And given my insistence on lodging on this side of the gate, being the one in charge of this quick construction would also make it easy for me to get the first pick on my private quarters within.
"Thinking about this," I muttered while sneaking out of Fay's grasp and then out of bed. "Where's Makary?"
While I wasn't surprised to see Selene appear even before the morning ring… Seeing her all up and dandy implied Makary was up as well. And yet, despite lodging mere meters away from the man, I couldn't see, hear, or feel him at all!
"He's already long gone," Selene replied on autopilot, already putting her full focus back on her clipboard, paying no attention to her footing or hand support as she moved down the ladder to the ground floor of the shed. "From what I've gathered, he has some business to run to ensure the logistics will run smoothly.
Oh, and later on," Selene stopped on the ladder and poked her head out of the floor for just a little bit longer. "He promised to bring Leon by late evening, so be ready to bring him in. Good luck!"
Wasting no further moment on me or Fay, Selene slid down the ladder and dropped down to the floor, paying no mind to how its poor quality could easily lead to the floor giving in under the impact of her drop.
'Well, they will be removing this tent as soon as the headquarters are ready, so it's not like it matters,' I thought, gathering up the clothes Fay threw all over the place in her bid to reach the bed while under my constant attacks last night.
"Here," I called as I threw Fay's clothes onto the bed, just in case there existed a soul stupid enough to barge into this shed while she would be changing.
"Just five more minutes…" Fay complained while hiding her head underneath the sheets and turning herself into a furrito.
"You will only get more sleepy by napping like that," I warned as I looked over. Yet, seeing Fay only cuddle herself up within the sheets even further, I could do nothing but breathe a sigh.
Breathe a sigh, quickly confirm no one was stupid enough to encroach upon our privacy… and then grab the edge of the sheets and pull them down with a single, powerful pull.
"No!" Fay cried out when the sheets moved away, depriving her of the cover that kept the warmth inside and exposing her exposed skin to the cold air of the morning. "You brute! How could you!"
Despite throwing out cries in my face, Fay already had her clothes in her hand, scattering them on the bed while she complained.
"Sorry for that, dear, but I just can't wait to see how our new, temporary residence will come around," I apologized with a small smile. "There's a reason why I called dibs on the job of managing the construction of the headquarters, after all."
Still half-dressed, Fay froze and gave me a long, empty look, making it seem as if she was judging me.
In theory, I should feel judged… But with Fay in nothing but simple panties and the nightgown she had yet to remove, I failed to maintain an eye-contact when my attention moved down, to the two beautiful mounds of flesh alluringly hanging down from Fay's chest…
"Perv," Fay smirked a little as she commented, only to grab the bottom edge of her gown and pull it up, removing the see-through cloth from her upper body.
Watching how she did so, I just couldn't stop myself from analyzing every detail of how her boobs moved while she stretched herself up and to the back or how they bounced back when she straightened her spine. I kept watching even when she suddenly stood up and continued my scientific observation when she leaned forward a little and approached with a small smile.
Fay got closer and closer, all the way to the point where she was all in my face… Only to reach out for my shoulders with just the tips of her fingers and then raise on her toes and she leaned over my ear.
"Hentai."
Fay's low, faint voice entered my ear and then seemingly caressed my brain, causing a pleasant tingle to move up my spine.
'What with those Asian words working like a charm on men?' I thought, despairing over how simple it was for Fay to get a raise out of me.
"Yes, I'm a hentai, yes, I'm a pervert," rather than denying or stupidly trying to defend myself, I simply accepted all of Fay's accusations while reaching out and grabbing her at her exposed waist, only to push her down a little and then lean over her ear for some payback.
"Only for you, though."n/o/vel/b//in dot c//om
This time, I could feel a similar tingle move up Fay's spine, thanks to the courtesy of our bond.
Satisfied with the result of my counterattack, I gave Fay a short hug before pulling away.
"Now then, we really have a lot to do for today, so how about we pick up the pace and hurry up?" I suggested while reaching down and grabbing Fay's shirt, only to bring it up and press it against her chest. "Because you know, if we keep playing around like that…"
I averted my eyes, feeling a small blush emerge on my cheeks as I realized what I was about to say.
"Then I don't think I will be able to hold back." Experience more on empire
For a moment, Fay looked up while holding the shirt I just passed to her closely to her chest. Still, in the end, she graced me with a mildly amused smile before finally removing the temptation of her naked breasts from my face when she finally put on her shirt.
"I will have to ask you to do your best holding back until the night, then," Fay muttered as he turned around to grab the rest of the clothes she left on our bedding.
"Trust me," I smiled at my own thoughts while making a step towards the ladder. "I will make sure our new lodging will be stable enough."
