Chapter 1124: Gate of The Separati, A Faint Connection
Chapter 1124: Gate of The Separati, A Faint Connection
"The Lightning Soldier was lucky that it managed to cross this room without any harm coming to it. No, I doubt it was by luck alone. It seemed to understand the dangers of the sphere and kept its distance after successfully crossing. Most likely, it waited until the sphere was in a calm state before making its move.'
It did not take long for Izroth to notice that the destructive space in the room would calm down significantly when the sphere was not showing signs of bending and warping. Although the window of time was brief, it was more than enough for a Lightning Soldier to their way
across.
'For a weapon that does not possess an Immortal Persona, I can not help but be impressed by the intelligence of the Lightning Soldiers and Sagarus.'
Of course, Izroth also inspected the sphere using his Deep Insight and Appraisal skills. Name: ???(???)-> Gate of The Separati (Relic) [Appraised]
Usage: ???
[System Alert: [2] Flaws have been discovered in <<Gate of The Separati»>!
[System Alert: Flaw [1]: If not regularly maintained, this item may lose control and wreak havoc on the surrounding space.[]
[System Alert: Flaw [2]: This item is close to a state of losing control.Nôv(el)B\\jnn
'Oh? A relic? It's my first time seeing one in the Mortal Realm.'
From what Izroth understood about relics, they were similar to magic items; however, their production methods seemed to differ. Magic items also contained high levels of concentrated mana and magic, while relics did not use mana or magic as their source of power.
Additionally, relics were not separated by ranks in the same way that magic items were despite some effects clearly being more powerful or useful than others.
That being said, Izroth had not done much research into relics since it had not been that long since he obtained some for himself back in the Ancient Celestial Realm.
Whatever the case, he initially speculated that perhaps relics were items unique to places like the Ancient Celestial Realm. However, seeing as a relic here in the Mortal Realm caused him to question that thought.
Of course, Izroth understood that the relic before him could have simply been taken from a minor realm and brought to this place. But, he had no way of knowing with the current level of his Deep Insight and Appraisal skills.
'It appears that I've wasted a trip.'
The item itself held some interest to Izroth; however, it was already on the verge of losing control. Since his Deep Insight did not specify how close, for all he knew it could be a few seconds, several days, or even years.
'Gate of The Separati... Separati is latin for separated. If that's the case, what exactly is it separating or separated from? I don't want to waste too much time since I still have a lot of ground to cover in my search. But, since I've come this far, I might as well try to take it with me. If it turns out to be more trouble than it's more, I'll just have to wait until I complete my search and try again.'
"Given the state of the space in this area, it's too risky to use a skill like Instantaneous Movement. Space Defying Tread should still work since it can't be disrupted or disabled, but... Well, I will rely purely on my speed alone and do what's necessary when the time comes." Izroth said to himself.
Izroth's gaze did not leave the sphere as he watched the space around it bend and warp. Naturally, he was not staring at the sphere in admiration. Rather, he was waiting for the exact moment when its influence on the surrounding space reached its lowest point.
Approximately fifteen seconds later, Izroth narrowed his eyes as his figure started to flicker in and out of existence. Almost instantly after Izroth activated Flickering Steps, the space around the sphere returned to normal as it stopped bending and warping.
In what looked to be a single step, Izroth arrived in front of the sphere and reached out to place it into his inventory.
Ooooom...!
??!!
The moment Izroth's hand made contact with the sphere, he was overcome with a strange sensation that made the world around him feel distorted and warped in inconceivable manners. Izroth tried to pull away from the sphere; however, there was an invisible force that locked him in place.
[System Alert: This item cannot currently be placed in your inventory!
After sensing that his window of opportunity was coming to a close, Izroth did not hesitate to activate Space Defying Tread.
Zeeeeut!
In the blink of an eye, Izroth arrived back near the entrance of the room. He managed to escape from the sphere's grasp. And, not even half a breath later, the bends and warps once again formed around the sphere.
"That feeling... It was brief, but I'm sure of it.'
Just now, there was a brief look of surprise that flashed through Izroth's eyes when he touched the sphere. While the sphere's intense reaction was great, Izroth had already anticipated that something would happen if he touched such an unstable item.
The reason behind that brief look of surprise was what he felt upon making contact with the sphere.
"For a split moment, I could sense them through the Soul Link. Empyrean and Selene-they may be somewhere on the other side of that sphere."
Even though it was for less than a second, Izroth felt the Soul Link he had with Empyrean and Selene, although very faintly, reconnect.
'It looks like I will have to delay my plans to destroy this place. At least until I can find out what this sphere has to do with Empyrean's and Selene's disappearance.'
If it was due to the effects of a relic, it was no wonder why Empyrean's Innate Anti-Magic Body had no effect. Still, the last time Izroth saw Empyrean, he had grown much stronger. Without a doubt, Empyrean's strength had increased since then. He was by no means weak and had several methods at his disposal.
If Empyrean was somehow trapped on the other side of the sphere with Selene and could not break through, it would mean that this sphere was nothing to scoff at and could not be taken lightly.
'It's a shame Void Turning is still on cooldown; otherwise, I could let myself get pulled in and get them out. I have yet to test if I can take others through Void Turning with me, but since they are both directly connected to me, there's a high chance that it will work. The problem is the quest time limit-how troublesome.'
Izroth's Void Turning had a 24-hour cooldown and it would not be off cooldown any time
soon.
Unfortunately, the S-ranked quest To Dream of Being Divine had an eight-hour time limit. 'It would be a shame to fail an S-ranked quest, but worst case scenario, I can just give up on it. In the end, I would only be giving up three levels and some world fame. Compared to ensuring Empyrean and Selene's safety, it's a small price to pay.'
There was also the matter of the Mad Alchemist Polkentin considering him an enemy. But, so what? The two were bound to cross paths as enemies one day. Izroth had no problem with that
day being a little sooner.
