Chapter 103 - 97 Teasing Qiao Jing
Chapter 103: Chapter 97 Teasing Qiao Jing
Upon seeing that it was Qiao Jing beside Zhan Qipei, he suddenly froze.
How could it be her? There must be some mistake, right? Could it be that his son had taken a liking to this girl?
Gan Changfeng looked again in the direction of Gan Lanlan’s gaze, thinking perhaps he had made a mistake.
But before he could get a good look, he saw his son hurry cheerfully towards Qiao Jing.
This scene nearly made Gan Changfeng’s eyes pop out of their sockets.
It really was true!
He had never seen his son care about any girl like this before, mainly because his son had always been immersed in his studies and research and had no interest in dating. Because of this, he and his wife had often discussed the matter anxiously, late into the night.
If his son really had fallen for the Zhan Family’s daughter-in-law, then he would have to try to understand her better.
The requirements of him and his wife were not high—just two points: one, she had to be female; and two, her character must not be too bad. As long as the other party met these two points, he would be very welcoming of Qiao Jing entering their family.
“Miss Qiao—Miss Qiao!” Gan Lanlan almost let it slip in her excitement.
“Mm.” Qiao Jing nodded.
Zhan Qipei half-closed his eyes, first glanced at Qiao Jing, then turned his gaze to Gan Lanlan.
Gan Lanlan looked into Qiao Jing’s radiant, shining eyes with a face full of joy.
Seeing this, Zhan Qipei asked Qiao Jing in a deep voice,
“You know this person too?”
“We just met not too long ago,” Qiao Jing honestly replied.
“Oh…”
So she was really that amazing? They had just met not long ago, and Gan Lanlan was already smitten with her?
“Where’s your father?” Zhan Qipei was here mainly to negotiate business with the Gan family.
“Over there.” Gan Lanlan pointed.
Zhan Qipei followed the direction Gan Lanlan pointed and saw Gan Changfeng, who was also coming over.
“I’ll step away for a moment.”
“Go ahead.” Qiao Jing said and then took a glass of juice from the tray held by a waiter.
“Professor Qiao, please sit here; I had someone reserve a spot just for you,” Gan Lanlan said warmly.
After Zhan Qipei had walked a short distance away, he looked back at Qiao Jing and Gan Lanlan, furrowing his brow.
“President Zhan.” Gan Changfeng had approached by then.
Zhan Qipei shifted his gaze and started conversing with Gan Changfeng about business matters.
“By the way, Professor Qiao, Qiqi is upstairs. I’ll go call her down; just wait a moment,” Gan Lanlan said, glancing towards the second floor.
“Okay.”
No sooner had Gan Lanlan left than Qian Yuang came over, holding two glasses of red wine.
Qian Yuang offered one of the glasses to Qiao Jing.
“Miss Qiao, please.”
Qiao Jing looked up at Qian Yuang, not recognizing him.
“I’m fine with this,” Qiao Jing continued sipping the beverage in her cup.
Qian Yuang set down the wine glass he had offered to Qiao Jing, then looked at the seat beside her, moving to sit down.
“I don’t like sitting with people I don’t know.” A cold voice came from Qiao Jing’s mouth, exuding an aloofness that kept others at a thousand miles distance.
Qian Yuang half-sat back down, his buttocks hanging in midair as a hint of awkwardness swept across his face.
After a few seconds, he seemed to have composed himself, shifting his buttocks to sit opposite Qiao Jing, smiling at her as if the awkward scene had never happened.
“Miss Qiao, I heard you work at Professor Qiao’s research institute? May I ask what you do there?”
“That seems to be none of your business,” Qiao Jing replied, her tone not very friendly. This was mainly because she disliked the way Qian Yuang was looking at her.
She had always been this way: if others treated her well, she would reciprocate. But if they were offensive, there was no need for her to be polite.
“Do you have a prejudice against me, Miss Qiao?” Qian Yuang said, swirling the red wine in his glass.
“You’ve noticed, so why don’t you leave?” Qiao Jing bluntly issued a dismissal.
Qian Yuang didn’t seem to care about Qiao Jing’s cold reception. He had pursued countless women and believed he understood them well. In his eyes, Qiao Jing was beautiful and talented, with the right to be aloof.
“Miss Qiao, what do you think of me?” Qian Yuang leaned forward, moving closer to ask Qiao Jing.
Meanwhile, Zhan Qipei could no longer continue his business discussion with Gan Changfeng.
“I’m terribly sorry, President Zhan, but the Gan family has been collaborating with the Qian Family on this project for over a decade. If I were to hand this juicy opportunity to you, it would be hard to explain it to the Qian family. I hope there’ll be a chance to work with you in the future,” Gan Changfeng said.
Having heard this, Zhan Qipei had no choice but to give up. But to his surprise, when he turned around, he saw Qian Yuang hitting on Qiao Jing.
“What do you mean?” Qiao Jing asked, narrowing her eyes.
“I mean, don’t you think I’m better than Zhan Qipei?” Qian Yuang cut straight to the point.
Qiao Jing raised her beautifully curved eyebrows slightly, looking at Qian Yuang’s gaunt face, a clear sign of excessive indulgence.
“You want to compare yourself with Zhan Qipei?”
“Correct.”
“You’re not even comparable to him.”
Zhan Qipei had just approached when he heard Qiao Jing suddenly say that.
What can I say? His mood was quite good.
While Zhan Qipei was in a good mood, Qian Yuang’s face turned quite ugly.
“Miss Qiao, you can’t judge a book by its cover. I admit, I’m slightly less handsome than Zhan Qipei, but when it comes to skills… haha… having been through countless battles, I doubt Miss Qiao has experienced that with any other man. How about you come to my place and we give it a try? I guarantee to take you to new heights in your life and make you willingly lie in my bed, unable to leave.”
Danger flickered in Qiao Jing’s narrowing eyes. Her instincts had always been sharp; she had felt from the very beginning that this man was no good.
Just as Qiao Jing was about to burst, a low and frosty voice suddenly sounded from behind her.
“Qian Yuang, your Qian family must think highly of themselves, daring to say such things in front of me, Zhan Qipei. Does your Qian family not take me, Zhan Qipei, or the Zhan family seriously?”
“Zhan Qipei?!” Qian Yuang sprang up from the sofa in shock, staring wide-eyed at Zhan Qipei, not expecting him to suddenly appear.
“Hehe—” Qian Yuang forced a smile, “Misunderstanding, all a misunderstanding. You heard wrong; that’s not what I meant.”
Qian Yuang thought to himself that no matter what, he was the Qian family’s eldest son, and to the Zhan family, Qiao Jing was just an insignificant outsider. Although Zhan Qipei had overheard his words, the Qian family should still command some respect.
“What happened?” Gan Lanlan arrived to see Zhan Qipei and Qian Yuang both standing near Qiao Jing.
Zhan Qipei glanced at Gan Lanlan and then locked eyes again with Qian Yuang, “Misunderstanding? I clearly heard you asking her to warm your bed.”
“What?!” Gan Lanlan raised her voice sharply before turning to Qiao Jing, “Did he really say that?”
Qiao Jing met Qian Yuang’s gaze with cold eyes, “Would I ever fancy someone as dirty as you?”
With that, Qiao Jing responded to Gan Lanlan’s question.
Gan Lanlan was in a fury, unable to stand the insult and degradation of someone she greatly admired.
“Qian Yuang!” Gan Lanlan reached out and grabbed Qian Yuang by the lapel.
