Chapter 380: Striving to be the Strongest Among the Younger Generation
In the continuous clashes, Ominous Wind and Silver Wind intertwined repeatedly. After about two minutes of battle, Drifloon’s “Payback” missed. This was the first time Beautifly had successfully dodged the opponent’s attack. In that moment of opportunity, Terrance’s eyes lit up, and he shouted, “Now!”
Although Drifloon quickly formed a Shadow Ball, ready to block again, the trajectory of Silver Wind’s powdery scales suddenly shifted. The air currents sped up several times over, instantly erasing Ominous Wind. Riding this sudden hurricane, the speed of Beautifly’s Quiver Dance increased by several levels. Just as the Shadow Ball exploded, Beautifly successfully completed the Quiver Dance!
Fierce air currents and Quiver Dance!
Hiding it until the crucial moment was to ensure that Quiver Dance was successfully pulled off once. If it wasn’t done, with the Elite Four’s keen eyes and awareness, even if Beautifly’s Quiver Dance speed were to increase a bit more, it still couldn’t prevent the possibility of being interrupted!
“This could be bad,” Phoebe murmured.
Although Beautifly was blown away by the explosion of Shadow Ball, it quickly stabilized its wings. Beautifly felt remarkable as Quiver Dance had succeeded.
“Launch the counterattack!” Terrance called out swiftly.
At this moment, Beautifly’s sensitivity to the air currents had sharpened dramatically. Thanks to its increased speed and power, its control over the air currents shifted from slightly superior to absolute dominance!
Phoebe’s expression darkened. Losing here would indeed be embarrassing.
“I can’t drag this out any longer,” she said, sighing slightly.Phoebe commanded Drifloon to retract the Ominous Wind and stop competing for control over the air currents with Beautifly.
In terms of control over air currents, Drifloon had already been decisively defeated.
“Drifloon is running out of stamina. In that case…” Phoebe glanced at Beautifly and said helplessly. “Drifloon, use the strings.”
With the swirling of Ominous Wind, two thin strings extended from Drifloon. Under its precise control, the strings aligned with the pace of the air currents, flitting about chaotically. The Trainers observing the match fell silent, able to hear the sharp whistle of the strings slicing through the air.
“What’s it trying to do?”
Terrance watched as Drifloon merged itself with Ominous Wind, transforming into a black drill. It barreled through Silver Wind, its two strings whipping about like dragon whiskers, aiming straight for Beautifly, causing his expression to change.
“Be careful, Beautifly!”
With the air currents boosting its speed, Drifloon’s light body quickly flew over, its strings whipping with such speed that they seemed to form a massive, illusory net. The strings lashed toward Beautifly, attempting to grab it.
Naturally, Beautifly didn’t sit idly by. Its speed was also not slow and having successfully executed Quiver Dance once, Terrance and Beautifly decided to drag it out, avoiding a decisive showdown with Drifloon.
At this point, they had the upper hand!
But in the next moment, the situation shifted so rapidly that it surpassed Terrance’s imagination.
Drifloon, following after Beautifly, had been slower in speed. However, it suddenly took a deep inhale, swallowing all of the Ominous Wind into its body. Then, as if firing an air cannon, it expelled it all in one burst, propelling itself forward at an astonishing speed like a beam of light. Terrance’s pupils shrank.
Swallow? Spit up?
Could those moves even be used this way?!
“This isn’t good!” Terrance grimaced, stunned to see Beautifly already entangled in Drifloon’s strings.
“What are you planning? Mutual harm?”
At the same time, although Beautifly was caught, its String Shot was already in place, binding Drifloon in return. The two Pokémon tied up each other, creating a bizarre spectacle.
Terrance’s mind raced, his scalp tingling as cold sweat dripped down. A sudden possibility struck him.n/ô/vel/b//jn dot c//om
While he wouldn’t claim to be a seasoned veteran in battle, he had done some research on the situation at hand…
Drifloon was running low on stamina, while Beautifly, having boosted itself once with Quiver Dance, was at its peak. If this continued, Beautifly’s advantage would only grow. Given Drifloon’s current capabilities, it seemed impossible for it to break free from Beautifly’s move. Was Phoebe really planning on a mutual knockout?
Terrance’s pupils contracted and he quickly gave a command: “Giga Drain!”
At the same time, Phoebe gave her own command: “Explosion!”
As countless white lights enveloped Drifloon, the Beautifly’s silk glowed green, releasing a violent surge of energy. The entire arena seemed to be shrouded in a cloud of dust. Silver Wind’s powdery scales were scattered in all directions by the energy blast, and for a moment, everyone held their breath.
Drifloon had undoubtedly lost consciousness…
Everyone was shocked!
Who would have thought that Elite Four Phoebe would be pushed to the point of resorting to a mutual knockout strategy by a young Trainer?
Even though Drifloon had already fought two battles, this was still an Elite Four.
Despite the match ending in a draw, everyone, including Phoebe’s own assistant, now looked at Terrance with newfound respect.
After this battle, this young Trainer was bound to become famous across Hoenn!
Phoebe’s skirt fluttered in the aftermath of the explosion’s shockwave, but her attention remained fixed on the arena. She was determined to see the result.
Although… no one believed that Beautifly could remain conscious after enduring Explosion.
As the cloud of dust slowly cleared…
Everyone, including Phoebe, fell silent.
Drifloon lay unconscious on the ground, and Beautifly was in a similarly dire state. However…
As she noticed Beautifly’s faintly glowing body, desperately clinging to its last shred of willpower to use the move Morning Sun, a deep respect welled up within her, dispelling any lingering dissatisfaction about losing to the young Trainer before her.
“Even without a command from the Trainer, to persist until the end with sheer willpower and completely depleted stamina… What more can I say?”
She watched as Beautifly, now too exhausted to fly, lay quietly on the ground, slowly recovering its stamina. Turning to Terrance, she said, “You won this battle; it was an impressive match.”
“Thank you,” Terrance replied, taking a deep breath.
He had come so close to losing.
Initially, Terrance had felt confident in his chances of victory, but facing an Elite Four proved to be far more daunting than he had anticipated.
This victory belongs entirely to Beautifly.
As he watched Beautifly slowly take to the air again, even Terrance hadn’t expected it to withstand a move as powerful as Explosion.
“Bea~utifly~” It let out a soft cry, seemingly pleased with its triumph.
Its opponent was a top-tier Trainer whom even its owner looked up to. By winning the battle for Terrance, Beautifly hoped Terrance would see it in a new light.
This was the biggest thing Beautifly, who had helped Terrance achieve the Top Coordinator title, wanted to do after seeing new companions join Terrance’s team: prove itself once more!
“Beautifly’s gaze is very resolute,” Phoebe said, recalling Drifloon. She looked at the two of them with admiration.
“If you’re under fifteen, then among all the Trainers I’ve met, I, Phoebe, am willing to call you the strongest of Hoenn’s younger generation!”
In that moment, the silent crowd of Trainers erupted into exclamations of disbelief, stunned by her words.
