Garp gritted his teeth, fury in his voice. "Damn it!"
Tsuru's face was cold, her gaze sharp as a blade as it swept over Noir. But Noir, shameless as ever, remained unmoved.
Tired of the standoff, Noir brandished Devil Blade threateningly. "I won't say it again!!"
With a clenched jaw, Tsuru signaled to the Marines behind her. A large contingent of soldiers marched forward, carrying heavy wooden chests.
They set the chests down heavily, then threw open the lids, revealing a glittering hoard of gold and stacks of banknotes.
Zephyr, lying wounded and helpless on the ground, felt his heart sink at the sight.
'The Marines… actually caved to pirates because of me.'
'I don't deserve to be a Marine anymore…'
Noir glanced at the despondent Zephyr, a satisfied smirk playing on his lips.
Zephyr might be old, but his combat skills and teaching abilities were still valuable assets to the Marines. Pushing him to the point where he felt he could no longer remain in the Marines was exactly what Noir wanted.
Seeing Noir and his crew staring at the chests, Tsuru spoke coldly. "Can we have our people back now?"
Noir shook his head and turned to Enel. "Enel, go check it out and bring it over."
Enel nodded eagerly, rubbing his hands together before transforming into a bolt of lightning and zipping towards the chests.
Garp looked at the avaricious Enel with disdain. "You recruit greedy pirates like this into your crew, Devil?"
Enel glared at Garp, but Noir merely chuckled. "Of course. Greed isn't exactly a crime for a pirate."
Seeing Noir defend his crewmate, Garp snorted. "Birds of a feather…"
Noir ignored the taunt. Enel returned, silently nodding to confirm the ransom.
Noir grinned. He gestured for Enel to bring the money over. "The Marines are true to their word. Thanks."
Tsuru's eye twitched. Noir anticipated her next words, cutting her off with a smile. "Alright, let's return your people."
Garp let out a silent sigh of relief. A huge weight lifted from Tsuru's shoulders as well.
But that relief was quickly replaced by a cold, hard resolve.
'Once the Marines have their hostages back, Devil Noir is finished!'
Lucci escorted the captive Marines forward, while Wyper shoved the Celestial Dragons out into the open.
Garp and Tsuru immediately ordered their men to retrieve them. As soon as they were safely back in Marine custody, several of the Celestial Dragons began to shriek and complain.
"What took you so long?! You useless Marines!"
"A former Admiral, captured by pirates?!"
"I'm reporting this to the Gorōsei! You'll all be punished!"
....
Back in safe territory, the Celestial Dragons showed their true colors, berating the Marines and forgetting who had just rescued them.
Shame and anger burned in the faces of the rescued Marines as they listened to the Celestial Dragons' insults.
The blatant ingratitude of the Celestial Dragons sparked outrage among the Marines. Some even clenched their fists, wanting to strike back.
But they were Marines, bound by discipline. They wouldn't act without orders…
Zephyr, his eyes devoid of light, sat slumped on the ground like a puppet with its strings cut.
Ain helped her teacher up, her face etched with worry. Gion looked at Noir, her expression unreadable.
She had already witnessed Noir's terrifying potential.
He might act foolish and unreliable at times, but when provoked, he was a ruthless and cunning adversary.
Gion sighed. Now that she was back on the side of the Marines, she didn't know when she'd see him again…
'Would their next encounter be on the battlefield, with swords drawn?'
With the hostages secured, Garp and Tsuru, ignored the ranting Celestial Dragons.n/o/vel/b//in dot c//om
They exchanged a look. Tsuru discreetly held a Den Den Mushi behind her back, her finger hovering over a button on its shell.
She pressed the button. Hidden beneath the waves surrounding the island, a fleet of warships received the signal. They surged to the surface, churning the sea into a froth as they raced towards the shore.
As the lead ship crested a wave, its captain's face was revealed – a snarling Akainu, Admiral of the Marines.
A massive fleet surrounded the island in an instant. Enel and Issho sensed the shift immediately. "We're surrounded," Enel reported.
A smirk played on Noir's lips. He'd expected this.
Kizaru's claim that Akainu was on a mission was clearly a lie. He was probably sent to eliminate Noir.
Noir glanced at Kizaru, who was nonchalantly whistling, hands in his pockets, feigning indifference.
Tsuru stretched her arms, a cold smile on her face. "Pirates, your time is up!"
Noir shrugged. "My Time's Never Up."
The Marines' betrayal was undeniably underhanded…
But if Noir were in Sengoku's position, he would have done the same, perhaps even worse.
The world might see the Marines as despicable, but they had accomplished their mission, upholding their twisted sense of justice.
The means didn't matter, as long as the ends were achieved.
Unfortunately for them, their opponent was Noir, someone even more ruthless and cunning…
A wave of intense heat washed over the island, scorching the clear sky. Akainu stood atop a surge of molten rock, his voice a ferocious roar. "Devil Noir! Prepare to die!"
More and more Marines swarmed the island. Akainu led the charge, his attacks the most brutal, intent on turning the entire island into a sea of magma.
Issho frowned, stepping forward. As the Marines watched in astonishment, he drew his sword, a blinding purple light erupting into the sky.
"Gravity Blade: Fierce Tiger!"
With a thunderous shout, Issho swung his sword horizontally at the approaching wave of magma. The purple light warped the space before him, twisting and distorting it.
Akainu's expression changed. He struggled to maintain his balance as the massive wave of magma he'd unleashed was abruptly pushed back by an immense force.
The Underworld Pirates remained untouched by the magma. Instead, it was the Marines following Akainu who suffered the brunt of the attack.
The deflected magma rained down on them, burning flesh and bone. Screams of agony filled the air.
The scene was a living hell, a nightmare of burning bodies and charred skeletons.
But Akainu's expression remained unchanged. His eyes were locked on Issho, a terrifying aura radiating from him.
Issho, his eyes open but revealing only white, met Akainu's gaze without flinching.
Noir watched the carnage unfold behind him, his expression impassive.
Then, Garp made his move..
