Chapter 2144 The Dashavatara (Various) -Part 12

The other Dashavatara were still reeling in from the shock. As much as it was annoying for them to fight against Ress, they assumed that their chances of winning would come the moment they were fatigued and had sufficient loss of resources especially from ammunition.

Yet at 3.56am, Celestial Avatar Balarama, the Celestial Warrior Farmer, a powerhouse of their own had been killed by these irritating bunch of flies buzzing around them had been killed.

The fact that their link with him was severed meant that his death was not just something that could have been shrugged off as a laughing matter. Even though they do have resurrection methods and even had a rebirth cycle that they could count on, this time it was totally different.

The Dashavatara could not feel him anymore, just as how they were not able to feel the link between them and their master, Lord Vishnu.

But compared to the disappearance of Lord Vishnu, the Dashavatara were more intertwined in their lives and fates so the loss felt more apparent than the break in their link with the God of Preservation. It was then, that it started to make more sense for Matsya as well as a few other Dashavatara.

Out of the many times they put down a celestial counter to show their arrival, most worlds treated it as something that was worth investigating. Only a few worlds or cities had scrambled to put up their military as a defensive measure and they were usually on the lower end of the spectrum of technology and development.

However, Ress was different.

Based on their technology and advancement in magic, they could be considered as one of the higher tier cities that would prove to be a hassle to fight against. But the readiness that they showed and the amount of preparation work had shown that the arrival of the Celestials was expected.

It goes to show that they had grossly underestimated the power shown by Ress and her citizens. The Celestials were proud and believed that this would just be a simple case of annihilating the humans out of their existence. Once they had done that, they would just attempt to follow the remaining traces of where their Lord Vishnu had gone.

However, slowly but surely, the Celestials believed that this particular race of humans might have brought their master down in some way or another, producing a potent poison that could effectively cripple the Celestials.

With that kind of revelation by Matsya, he now realised that the Dashavatara were truly playing well within the hands of a mastermind that was manipulating the situation either from afar or in this current playing field. What he needed to do was to pour all of the Dashavatara's powers into this battle wholeheartedly and find this particular mastermind.

Hence, the first person that came to mind was the King whom he had talked to prior to the start of the fight. There was no way he was not involved in this entire scheme and there was a high chance that he was the brain of the operations. Never in their current cycle of life had the Dashavatara seen such an experienced and coordinated force fighting against their armies. Experience new stories on empire

It was as if they had been training for years just for this day and the losses mounted by the Dashavatara's armies were increasing as Matsya tried to think of something. Even though the Celestial Avatars could raise them up once more, there was a limit to their Celestial energies.

Not to mention, they felt the strain of resurrecting them and it gets worse with every single minute that it was not just some amount they could shrug it off. Any more and the Avatars themselves would not have the strength to fight beyond the rank and files.

That was why with the sudden loss of their dear comrade, they immediately went into a quick telepathy session, allowing their actual tactician to finally take control of the situation. It was none other than Vamana, the Celestial Cosmic Wanderer. Despite his allocated title, Vamana was known to be the wisest among the ten Avatars of Vishnu.

There were even times when Lord Vishnu would consult Vamana's advice to perform certain tasks or actions.Nôv(el)B\\jnn

"We cannot retreat and their army was ready to die for the sake of defending their homeland. That much is apparent since I did not see any civilians within the vicinity. All I see are iron and lead covering this particular kingdom and only this kingdom alone." Vamana opened the session with such a statement.

"Does that mean if we spread out our troops further and wider, they would be stretched thin if they wished to protect the other human kingdoms?" Matsya asked but Parashuma, the Celestial Avenger shouted that they should continue to attack this kingdom in order to seek revenge for Balarama.

"Despite his shouts, Parashuma may be right. I suspect that they are not acting on behalf of the humans and even if we spread out to kill other humans, they would not come for us…unless we the Dashavatara split instead."

"Vamana, are you saying that we are their targets?" Varaha, the Celestial Earth Lifter, asked as he continued to send his troops to fight the ground battle. Numerous War Boars had died just as the War Tortoises and only through Vamana's quick consult, he too felt that something was amiss.

"Highly Likely. But whether the pawns will chase after us would be a different issue. The King of this country… Ress, if I am not mistaken, continued to keep himself abreast of the current situation in his Royal Castle. His presence did not disappear nor did he make an appearance after declaring the battle with us.

There is no doubt that this King wields powers of considerable measure and we need to be careful of the guards that are with him too." Vamana said and suddenly a click of the tongue emerged.

"Let me handle him. You all had been holding me back long enough and I have seen enough celestials die upon the hands of puny humans repeatedly that it disgusted me." A lady's voice pierced through the conversation.

"Heh! Then let me join you. Kalki! I too would wish to avenge Balarama. We kill him, the other rank and file would definitely react and try to save their king. By doing so, we can enact high level mass effect spells to kill them all!

I believe Kalki can definitely survive all our attacks." The Celestial Avenger commented but Vamana advised caution.

Unfortunately, before such a warning could be delivered, Kalki, the Celestial Future Warrior, and Parashuma, the Celestial Avenger had already started to make their way towards the Royal Castle, yearning for the revenge they sought. But every single Dashavatara knew that the both of them just wanted some challenge since they were the only few Avatars who did not have any armies beneath them.

Because they were too powerful that none of the Celestial 'minions' could satisfy their requirements to be part of their army. Hence, without hesitation and with vengeance clouding their minds, the two Dashavatara dashed towards the Royal Castle despite knowing that there might be possible traps waiting for the Celestial Avatars.
