Nightmare Assault

Chapter 264: Elder Huang

Chapter 264: Elder Huang

Tang Shirou shivered. The next second, her pupils shook. To prevent her actions from being discovered, Xia Meng silently pulled her to the back of the team. This showed the difference between the old and new travellers. With a sharp gaze from Xia Meng, Tang Shirou froze.

“Young Master Huang will come to the lake to sing at night?!” An Xuan looked shocked. He covered it up like he didn’t know what happened the night before.

“Yes.” Butler Zhou nodded. He didn’t want to dwell on this. He turned around and said, “Elder Huang is waiting in the lobby. Please come with me.” The young woman and the man behind him moved away to reveal the stone path.

Butler Zhou led them to the main yard. The yard walls were tall. There was a small bamboo forest outside the wall. The environment was quiet and beautiful. The travellers subconsciously moved away from Butler Zhou.

Shi Liaozhi shrunk his head and looked around warily, “This is strange,” He whispered, “Since we’ve been here before, then we would have known about the young master’s illness. Why would he explain it again to us?”

“Indeed.” You Qi replied, “That doesn’t make sense.”

“Perhaps it’s part of the rules.” Qin Jian scratched his chin and said uncertainly, “You should know that the rules here not only limit us but also the NPCs.”

“So… Even if Butler Zhou knew we had been here, he had to repeat what he had told us before.” It was Chen Qiang who spoke. As a newbie, he rarely spoke. However, he was different from the other newbies, and he managed to tell they were in the Song Dynasty. Furthermore, he could grasp the basic rules of the nightmare mission from the conversation between the other travellers.

Some of the travellers looked at him with interest, but he didn’t notice it. He continued to ask Qin Jian, “Is that it?”

“Yes.” Qin Jian smiled at him.

Soon, they came to the door of a luxurious room. Butler Zhou, who led the way, paused on the stone steps before the door. He turned around to study the travellers. “Dear Dafu,” Butler Zhou announced, “There’s one more thing that I need to remind you. My master has been greatly exhausted due to my young master’s illness. He is weakened. I hope you’ll be more cautious when you talk about the young master’s conditions lest you trigger the master.”

“Of course.” An Xuan nodded.

The door was pushed open. The inside of the room was dim. An elder sat in a chair. However, despite being called an elder, he looked only around sixty. He was younger than Qin Jian. This should be the master of the manor, Elder Huang.

The temperature could be described as chilly, but Elder Huang was wrapped in a thick mink coat. His whole body was enveloped. His eyes were closed. He looked listless. A young female maid stood beside him. Similar to the other staff they had seen, she had soulless eyes.

Butler Zhou’s worry was not unfounded. The elder’s mental and physical state looked worrisome. His face was pale. He was probably too concerned about his son.

“Master,” Butler Zhou walked forward and said respectfully, “The Dafu is here.”

Hearing that, Elder Huang’s eyelids fluttered. When he fully opened his eyes, it was quite frightening. Elder Huang’s eyes were yellow. The white of his eyes was covered in blood capillaries. It looked quite scary. His yellowed pupils slowly turned to study the travellers. His lips opened but before he could say anything, he was overwhelmed by intense coughing. The young maid instantly moved forward to serve him. She patted his back familiarly.

“Thank you… Dafus for looking at my son…” It took Elder Huang quite a while to finish the short sentence.

“It’s what we should do,” The group representative, An Xuan, nodded at Elder Huang.

“I’m sure… Dafus know about my son’s condition.” Elder Huang said between breaths. “Then, I shall not delay you any further… If you can cure my son, you will be my manor’s most honoured guest. This kindness… Cough… Cough…”

Noting the elder’s agitated emotions, Butler Zhou shot them a look. An Xuan understood it. “Elder Huang is too kind. Then, we shall move to visit the young master.”

Elder Huang could barely speak, so he waved his hands. After leaving the room, everyone sighed. Elder Huang looked like he was ill, too…

“Butler Zhou,” Qin Jian suddenly asked, “When can we visit Young Master Huang?” Young Master Huang didn’t like to meet people during the day, and he’d only go to the lake to sing at night, so Qin Jian’s worry was not unfounded. After all, no one wanted to meet him at the lake at night. Who knew what would happen then?

“What do the Dafus think is the appropriate time?” Butler Zhou asked.

It was around ten in the morning. The sun shone warmly on them.

“How about now?” Shi Liaozhi pursed his lips and suggested softly.

The air was humid since they were close to the lake. Shi Liaozhi’s blond hair was tied in knots and hung limply. He looked funny. However, everyone’s attention was on Butler Zhou.

He nodded a few seconds later. “Okay.”

Things went a lot smoother than expected. This surprised the travellers, who were prepared for the worst. The NPCs in this mission were pushovers.

“However, I hope you can change before we meet the young master,” Butler Zhou said slowly.

Xia Meng narrowed her eyes. Before she could say anything, a very annoyed voice uttered, “Why? If the rest of you want to change, you can change. I am not going to,” Jiang Cheng grumbled loudly, “I’m all dressed in branded clothes. I worked so hard to get them. How dare you tell me to change?”n/ô/vel/b//in dot c//om
