After saying that, Wu Lian shifted his attention back to the ability users battling the deformed monsters below.
Standing atop an armored car, Wu Yehao looked up at the wall, narrowing his eyes at the
soldiers observing the fight without offering help.
Beside him, one of his subordinates said, "Captain, we can't keep fighting like this. Should we blast through these monsters and make a run for the base?"
Wu Yehao's cold gaze grew even colder as he said, "We won't be able to enter the base without clearing out all the monsters first."
Hearing this, the man clenched his teeth and asked, "How can they just stand there watching us get surrounded without lifting a finger to help?"
Wu Yehao didn't answer him but snapped his fingers, summoning another golden thunderbolt to eliminate a group of monsters.
After taking down a few more deformed monsters, he finally said, "Remember, our mission is to ensure Miss Yao Ran's safety and bring her back to the headquarters. As for anything else, it's none of our concern."
Despite his Captain's words, the man couldn't hide his frustration with the soldiers.
As he incinerated monsters with his fire element ability, he muttered, "Even if we kill all these monsters, we won't be able to get in if they don't open the gate."
Wu Yehao glanced at the top of the wall and said coldly, "If they refuse to open the gate, we will force them to do it."
Looking at his subordinate, Wu Yehao said, "Signal the others to gather and get into the cars."
"Yes, Captain." The man replied, raising his hand toward the sky and shooting a fireball that exploded after three seconds.
Boom!
When the others saw the signal, they quickly moved toward the armored cars. As they made their way, Wu Yehao calmly controlled the lightning energy within the thunderclouds.
Once the last man was safely got inside the armored cars, Wu Yehao clasped his palms together.
Clap!
A second later, countless golden thunderbolts struck down simultaneously.
Crack- Boom! Boom!
The thunderbolts instantly killed the deformed monsters as Wu Yehao manipulated them into forming a giant net. A few seconds later, he spread his arms wide, controlling the giant lightning net to expand outward at an incredible speed.
Crack! Whoosh! Boom!
The bright light of the golden thunderbolts blinded Wu Lian, Li Tianyu, and the soldiers observing from atop the wall.
Before the light faded, Wu Yehao collapsed to his knees. His complexion paled, and cold sweat drenched his body. Despite his exhaustion, he calmly commanded, "Go."
At his order, the driver stepped on the accelerator, and the armored cars sped toward the main gate of the Juncheng Military Base.
From the top of the wall, Wu Lian and Li Tianyu were speechless, stunned by Wu Yehao's display of power.
After a long silence, Wu Lian finally said, "Open the gate."
"Yes, Captain," a soldier responded.
While the soldiers moved to open the gate, Li Tianyu glanced at Wu Lian. "That man is not simple," he remarked.
Wu Lian nodded. "Mhm."n/ô/vel/b//jn dot c//om
"Are you sure about letting him in? With his strength, he could easily destroy this base," Li Tianyu said, frowning.
Wu Lian rolled his eyes at him and replied, "If we don't let him in, we will be his next target. Can you fight him?"
Li Tianyu, knowing he was no match for Wu Yehao, said, "Good luck, Captain Wu."
Without waiting for a response, Li Tianyu turned and hurried away.
Watching Li Tianyu run faster than a rabbit, Wu Lian scowled and muttered curses under his breath. Turning his attention to the approaching armored cars, he sighed and rubbed his aching temples.
"This is going to be troublesome."
Despite his reluctance, Wu Lian descended the wall to greet the visitors.
Sitting on top of one of the armored cars, Wu Yehao noticed the movement inside the base. Confident that his display of power would force the soldiers to open the gate, Wu Yehao remained calm as the vehicles approached the main entrance of Juncheng Military Base. Once they reached the gate, Wu Yehao leaped down from the roof of the car and approached Wu Lian.
"Let us in," he said calmly.
"...." Wu Lian's mouth twitched at Wu Yehao's commanding tone, but he forced a smile and politely said, "Welcome to the Juncheng Military Base. May I know the purpose of your visit?"
"Looking for someone," Wu Yehao replied.
Seeing that Wu Yehao wasn't inclined to elaborate, Wu Lian pressed further. "Who are you looking for? Perhaps I can help."
"We will find them ourselves," Wu Yehao said, unwilling to reveal more information.
Wu Lian's smile faded as they stared at each other. After scrutinizing Wu Yehao for a moment, he said, "We need to check your identity before allowing you inside."
Anticipating that it won't be easy to get into the base, Wu Yehao had prepared the documents before leaving Yucheng Headquarters. Without saying anything, he calmly retrieved a fake identity card from his pocket and handed it to Wu Lian without hesitation.
While Wu Lian inspected the identity card, Wu Yehao took the opportunity to observe the soldiers and the surroundings. Noticing that only a few soldiers had abilities, he quickly lost interest in them.
After examining the identity card, Wu Lian frowned and thought, 'This identity card seemed legitimate. Is he really here only to find someone? But why do I get the feeling that this person's visit isn't as simple as it seems?'
With no other clues, Wu Lian could only return the identity card to Wu Yehao and ask, "How long do you plan to stay?"
Taking back the identity card, Wu Yehao replied, "We will leave as soon as we find the person
we are looking for."
Hearing this, Wu Lian ordered one of the soldiers, "Lead them to register their names."
"Yes, Captain," the soldier replied before looking at Wu Yehao and said, "Please come with
me."
Seeing that they were finally allowed entry, Wu Yehao gave Wu Lian one last glance before lightly jumping onto the roof of the car. The six armored cars then followed the soldiers into the base at a slow pace.
