Chapter 319: Information Leakage

Hearing Yao Ran's question, Long Yu smiled and answered, "Yes. We usually take turns cleaning, but we always handle our clothes, dishes, and bedding ourselves,"n/ô/vel/b//in dot c//om

Yao Ran nodded in approval, "No wonder you are so good at tidying up my bed."

Hearing this, Shi Xuan glanced at the two of them and thought to himself, 'Is this what I can hear without paying?'

Meanwhile, Mother Han smiled at the soldiers and said, "Thank you for helping. But as guests, you don't need to do such trivial tasks. I can handle it."

Li Tianyu replied politely, "It's the least we can do."

Noticing Long Yu, Mother Han said, "Captain, you are here."

Long Yu nodded and greeted her, "Good morning, Aunty Han."

Mother Han smiled warmly, "Good morning. Breakfast is ready. You can eat first."

After Mother Han left, Long Yu turned to Li Tianyu and said, "Captain Li, please come with me."

Li Tianyu nodded and followed him to the side hall together with the others.

Once seated around the long table, Long Yu asked, "Captain Li, how do you know about this place?"

"I asked Captain Wu. I heard he met you on his last mission, so I went to ask how to find you, and he gave me the location of this place." Li Tianyu answered truthfully.

Long Yu thought for a moment before asking, "Do you have something important to tell me?"

Li Tianyu nodded. He pulled a report from his backpack and handed it to Long Yu.

As Long Yu read the report, Li Tianyu explained, "Three days ago, a team of ability users returned with severe injuries. After the doctors treated their wounds, the hospital reported the case to the Second Army. Upon investigation, we discovered that a group of monsters had attacked them."

He pointed at the report in Long Yu's hand and added, "All the details about the monsters are in there."

Sitting beside Long Yu, Yao Ran and Shi Xuan also read the report. When Yao Ran saw a blurry picture of the so-called monsters, she glanced at Long Yu. Long Yu also looked at her at the same time. It seems that the two of them have the same idea about the identity of these monsters.

After reading the report, Shi Xuan asked in disbelief, "Are there really monsters that look like lumps of meat paste? Isn't that too disgusting?"

Li Tianyu's expression darkened as he replied, "Those disgusting monsters were once humans."

"What?!" Shi Xuan was so shocked that he momentarily lost his composure.

Aware of how shocking this revelation was, Li Tianyu elaborated, "We were just as shocked as you when we discovered this."

"These monsters were once humans who became deformed and lost their sanity because of the radiation and mutations. As they began devouring mutant animals, mutant plants, and even other humans, their deformities worsened, transforming them into these brainless creatures."

Hearing this, Long Yu asked, "So, what do you want from us?"

Li Tianyu hesitated for a moment and said, "My commander has requested your help."

Long Yu raised an eyebrow and asked, "Du Zhaoyi is really willing to lower his head and ask for my help?"

Li Tianyu coughed awkwardly and replied, "Captain Long, that issue happened a long time ago. Surely, you are not still holding a grudge against Commander Du, are you?"

Curious, Yao Ran turned to Long Yu and asked, "Did something happen between you and this Commander Du?"

Long Yu nodded, but before he could respond, Shi Xuan chuckled and teased, "It's just a rotten peach blossom."

Hearing this, Yao Ran's interest was piqued. But knowing there was a more pressing matter to discuss, she decided not to ask further.

After giving Shi Xuan a warning glare, Long Yu held Yao Ran's hand and said gently, "I will explain to you later."

He then turned to Li Tianyu and asked, "Does Du Zhaoyi want me to deal with these monsters for him?"

Li Tianyu, sensing that Long Yu was inclined to help, smiled and replied, "Not exactly. Commander Du is actually requesting Miss Yao's help."

Hearing this, Long Yu's expression darkened in displeasure.

Noticing his reaction, Li Tianyu hesitated before explaining, "I'm not sure how he found out,

but Commander Du knows Miss Yao has medicine that can cure deformation."

Long Yu's expression immediately changed when he heard this.

Noticing the change in his demeanor, Yao Ran quickly held his hand and asked, "Captain Li, could the soldiers I treated have leaked this information?"

The three soldiers, who were previously treated by Yao Ran, immediately protested.

"No! We never told anyone."

"Our comrades wouldn't betray you either."

"That's right. You saved our lives. We'd never sell you out, even if it meant death."

Observing their sincere expressions, Yao Ran recalled the group of people who had been following them earlier when they visited the soldiers.

"It seems your commander didn't trust you, Captain Li," she said after a moment of thought. Li Tianyu looked surprised and asked, "Why do you say that, Miss Yao?"

Yao Ran explained, "When we visited your comrades, a group of people followed us. Initially, A Yu and I thought they were watching us. But after we left, they stayed behind, observing the building like hawks."

"Since you say none of you leaked the news, the only explanation is that your commander sent those people to monitor you, Captain Li."

Li Tianyu clenched his fists tightly as he heard this until his knuckles turned white. Seeing his grim expression, Long Yu commented, "You know Du Zhaoyi doesn't trust anyone. It's not surprising that he'd assign people to spy on you."

Li Tianyu calmed down at these words, lowering his head in resignation. After a moment of silence, he sighed and said, "Miss Yao, Captain Long, I'm sorry for dragging you into this mess,"

Yao Ran smiled warmly and replied, "This isn't entirely your fault. If we had dealt with those people that day, Du Zhaoyi might not have learned about me or the cure. But in doing so, we will become enemies."
