Clean up
No one else noticed it but I saw the three tails leave upon Yagura's death like a cloud of steam escaping a boiling pot of water. It wasn't that it was willfully escaping either but as if the world itself wished it to regather elsewhere. I left behind a shadow clone to deal with the aftermath of this battle while following this cloud of energy into the land of rivers and eventually a lake where it began to gather in the depths like a pearl of light that was hidden away and growing in size constantly as the energy condensed.-
'So this is the reincarnation process of a tailed beast. Surprisingly similar to my eyes ability to create anything I imagine using my chakra but automated somehow.' I thought fascinated by what I was seeing.
With my curiosity satisfied I headed back to the island where the battle took place and seamlessly took the place of my shadow clone with no one any wiser. I had considered telling Mei about the location that the tailed beast was reincarnating so she could have her sealers recapture it quickly as a new jinchuriki loyal to her would go a long way in stabilizing the village once she took over officially.-
I decided against it in the end as this was the perfect opportunity to see how a tailed beast acted in the wild and if it was minding it's own business I may even step in to allow it to live peacefully. The lake clearly wasn't something important so no one was likely to notice if I placed some seals up to isolate the area to keep people from finding it on accident. I wouldn't even need to learn sealing arts to pull this off as I could just collect a set of sealing totems from konoha and surround the lake with a misdirection formation type barrier.-n/o/vel/b//in dot c//om
Obviously the fact they couldn't find the tailed beast after it was supposed to have been reincarnated already would be noticed but that wasn't my problem. I could empathize with the tailed beasts plight as they were more or less minding their own business when the first Hokage rounded them up after deeming them too dangerous to leave alone. Right before selling them to the other villages as weapons of mass destruction like a moron.-
Was it any wonder then that the things had a habit of rampaging after slipping the seals on their jinchuriki? I could easily imagine the humiliation and anger that they must feel to be reduced to mere things to possess as chakra batteries despite clearly being sentient. If it didn't hurt anyone why shouldn't I chip in to allow such a being to live free? As for the hidden mist? What difference does it make when they have many many bigger issues to deal with before they could have the luxury of even thinking about the thing?-
Anyways I was quite busy over the next three days taking care of the injured that also ironically included members of Yagura's army who had surrendered once they realized that the battle was lost and never really had anything against the resistance but was simply on the wrong side of this civil war. Mei and the resistance leaders were smart enough to know that if they killed everyone who had fought against them just for being loyal to the village they would be little better than the previous two Mizukages. That said there was definitely going to be a serious amount of surveillance put on these people for quite some time before they were ever fully trusted again.-
Still my job was merely as a messager and medical support person here only until this mess was cleaned up which was to say soon. It came as no surprise when the resistance stormed the hidden mist village they met little trouble as Yagura had taken most of the villages ninjas with him for the battle. Those that were left were either unfit for combat or the bare minimum needed to keep the village running till the army returned. The council elders in the village were systematically purged by the resistance and soon enough all traces other than the few that couldn't be removed of the previous Mizukages influence were erased.-
"Are you sure I can't persuade you to remain in the village to help us rebuild, even as an ambassador for the leaf?" Mei asked once I came to announce me departure.
I shook my head "Missions over and my sensei has already told me to return my full attention back to Konoha. This meetings end is already decided." I said honestly.
"A pity. While our time together was but a short few months you created a rather large impact on us all. Should you ever choose to visit know that Kirigakure's doors are open to you so long as I hold this office." she said and I smiled and nodded before dispelling this mitosis clone and finally having my full attention back in my main body.
'Now to relax in peace for a while.' I thought with a grin.
Of course like always my plans were ruined as now that my mission was over my sensei gave me an new one that proved a bit annoying, giving the new ambassador to the hidden mist the knowledge I had from my time in that role.-
The ambassador was a member of the Shimura clan which bugged me a bit due to my grudge with Danzo but I was professional enough not to let that show, much. I was maybe a little shorter with them than absolutely called for but I still did my job and imparted the knowledge I had along with some suggestions that might make things easier for him like bringing a gift of medical books when he went. Nothing major mind you just the most up to date medical procedures of a common variety to help that village fix their gods awful medical department.-
I got weird looks from the guy at first but I explained what I experienced while working there and the guys eyes lit up as he realized how much favor that would earn him right out the gate if he followed my advice. Don't let anyone fool you all Shimura clansmen valued efficiency and results due to Danzo effectively forcing that mindset on them from a young age during his time leading the clan. That said they were perfect as a result for tasks like this one that required a good amount of intelligence and diligence.
