"It's already late!" Luna Dawn shouted, her voice echoing through the room. She glared at Marie, who simply shrugged nonchalantly and said, "You're the one who slept in. It's not my fault."

Luna's frustration bubbled over, "How could you do this to me? You could have at least woken me up!" Her tone was a mix of irritation and desperation, but Marie remained unfazed. She shrugged her shoulders again and replied, "Last time, you nearly killed me when I tried to wake you up. There's no way I'm risking that again."

"Tsk," Luna clicked her tongue in annoyance. She rushed to her wardrobe and began rummaging through it frantically, grabbing the first dress she could find. As she hastily dressed, a sudden realization hit her.

"Where is it?" Luna frowned deeply, her eyes scanning the wardrobe for something she had carefully hidden. Panic began to set in as she couldn't find it.

"Hmm? What are you looking for?" Marie asked, her curiosity piqued as she tilted her head, watching Luna's frantic search.

Luna was startled at the question, quickly trying to compose herself, "N-Nothing," she stammered, hoping to divert Marie's attention.

"Come on, Luna," Marie said with a gentle smile, attempting to reassure her, "Even though we've just become friends... Come on, you can tell me what's missing"

Despite Marie's kind words, Luna shook her head stubbornly. "It's nothing," she insisted, her voice firm but hiding the worry she felt.

Marie simply shrugged again, sensing that pushing further wouldn't get her any answers. Luna continued to ransack her wardrobe, her movements becoming more desperate as clothes and items were tossed aside, creating a chaotic mess.

Her face turned pale as her mind raced. 'W-Where did I put that book?' she wondered in growing anxiety. She clearly remembered taking it with her when she left the castle and placing it securely in her wardrobe, yet now it was gone.

She was the only person who used this room, and she never allowed anyone else in... except,

"Marie," Luna called out, her voice shaky.

"Hmm? What is it, Luna?" Marie responded, tilting her head with a look of innocent curiosity.

Seeing Marie's innocent face, Luna hesitated, torn between suspicion and trust. Her belongings were too important to her to ignore this, "M-Marie, did you see... any kind of book inside my wardrobe?" she asked, her voice trembling slightly with concern.

Marie frowned when she heard Luna's question, "D-Did you think I stole something?"

"N-No, I-I didn't mean it like that..." Luna's face turned pale, realizing the implication of her words. Doubting her only friend could strain their bond, but Luna trusted Marie above all others.

"I-I'm just asking whether you knew anything about it or not. I didn't say anything about stealing," Luna clarified, her voice trembling with apprehension.

Marie's frown softened slightly as she considered Luna's words. After a few seconds of contemplation, she shook her head and replied, "Nope, I never se--"

Suddenly, Marie flinched, her eyes becoming distant as she stared upward.

"Sigh, not this again..." Luna sighed, recognizing the familiar signs. This behaviour had become more frequent ever since Marie visited Eli's house and saw Lilith. Sometimes, Marie would act strangely and gaze up at the sky as if seeing something unseen.

Having consulted with Aadya about this, Luna knew that Marie's Puppeteer power sometimes got out of control, manipulating her actions. Aadya had advised Luna that a pat on the back or a gentle push was usually enough to snap Marie out of it. The only long-term solution was for Marie to train to control her power more effectively.

"Sigh, I'm already getting a headache..." Luna muttered before reaching out to pat Marie's shoulder, attempting to bring her back to reality.

'Pat, Pat'

However,

However, Marie seemed to remain lost in her thoughts.

"Hmm?" Luna frowned, about to try again, when suddenly,

"We visited your home last week, right?" Marie mumbled out of nowhere.

"W-What?" Luna's confusion deepened.

"You might have lost it there," Marie suggested, her tone becoming more serious.

"What are you talking about? My big sister took us directly from the Arena to the castle, and I didn't even have that book in my possession," Luna explained, recalling the events of their recent visit.

She remembered the moment vividly: Zeus descending from the heavens, In that crucial moment, her big sister, Rose, emerged and swept Luna and Marie away from the Arena to the Castle.

Yet,

"What if you subconsciously had it...." Marie's voice broke through Luna's thoughts, her tone serious, yet her eyes vacant, like a doll's.

"What are you tal--"

"What if... If someone... might be reading it... now?" Marie's voice suddenly shifted to one of dread, sending a shiver down Luna's spine.

"!!!" Luna flinched, her mind racing with terrifying possibilities. 'N-No, No!! A-Anything but that...!!!'. Luna's face turned as pale as freshly fallen snow, her heart pounding in her chest.

When Marie mentioned 'subconsciously,' Luna's mind began to churn with the possibility. Without a moment's hesitation, she stammered, "M-Marie, please, tell Miss Aadya that I'll be back soon!!" as she swiftly exited her dorm room, her footsteps echoing down the hallway.

As Luna exited, Marie's gaze remained fixed on the slowly closing door, her body slumping to the ground like a discarded puppet whose strings had been severed.

'Thud'

In the now desolate room, Marie lay unconscious, the only occupant. Suddenly,

"BOOM!!"

The door slammed shut with such force it reverberated throughout the corridor as if propelled by an invisible force. Startled by the deafening noise, students from neighbouring rooms rushed out, drawn by curiosity and concern.

"Marie?" Mia's voice trembled with worry as she rushed to her friend's side, bending down to check for any signs of life.

"What happened?" Zera's brow furrowed with concern as she peered into the room.

"S-She's not breathing!" Mia's voice cracked with panic, she then called Aadya!

Meanwhile, Luna stealthily slipped out through the gate, her heart pounding with fear as she got in a taxi and sped towards the teleportation station, her mind racing with worry. She clenched her teeth, biting her lips in apprehension, her thoughts consumed with the fear of someone discovering her secret book.

'Fuck! Fuck! Fuck!...' Luna cursed inwardly, her mind swirling with anxiety. If Lucian were to lay eyes on her book, she knew it would spell doom for her. The mere thought sent shivers down her spine. She was certain she would meet her demise.

'What should I do?' Luna pondered frantically, her mind a whirlwind of uncertainty. Should she prepare herself for the unforeseen consequences?

Your adventure continues at empire

"S-Should I call... Eli?" Luna muttered to herself, the idea fleeting as quickly as it came. She couldn't bear to involve that innocent man in her chaotic past.

She hesitated for a moment before dialling...n/ô/vel/b//jn dot c//om

"Alex?"

"Yes, Luna?"

"... I-I need your help"

".... I'm sorry Luna, but I'm currently busy."

"A-Alex, this is really serious--"

"Then why don't you call your side chick?"

"Hmm? What are you talking about?"

"Tsk, don't act like you don't know, Luna... Your side chick... the damn uncle... Asher Eli!"

"...." Luna's expression darkened, her heart sinking as she shook her head in denial, "I-I don't know what you're talking about, Alex, but I really--"

'Beep, Beep'

Luna stared in shock as Alex abruptly ended the call.
