Chapter 156 Saving The Fifth Princess
Chapter 156 Saving The Fifth Princess
Wang Zhiqing—the name was not unfamiliar to him.
It was a name tied to the royal family. Wang Zhiqing was the Fifth Princess, renowned for her cultivation of talent and beauty. n/o/vel/b//in dot c//om
That explained the presence of a Three Elements Divine Realm guard. Who else but the Imperial Family could afford such an escort in addition to multiple Grand Qi Condensation Realm experts?
( Here I thought some unlucky noble clan's princess was caught in this mess with a monster. Turns out it's the real princess of the Azure Sky Empire. )
Feng Chen didn't want to get involved with the Royal Family, but if he walked away, the princess would likely be killed.
Moreover, he sensed a powerful presence lingering in the distance.
( That must be the one orchestrating all this. Trying to kill her from the shadows? How convenient. )
Feng Chen didn't know who it was, but it was clear they were aware of the princess's strength and had kept their distance, waiting for the monster to do their dirty work.
Even if the captain and her guards sacrificed their lives, it might not be enough to save the Fifth Princes from the hidden assassin.
Sigh!
"Might as well do some good deeds," Feng Chen muttered.
With a swift motion, he descended from his perch, his figure blurring as he landed amidst the chaotic battlefield.
His sudden appearance caused both the guards and the Direwolf to freeze momentarily in surprise.
"Who—" Captain Hua began, her halberd rising defensively as her sharp eyes locked onto Feng Chen.
She didn't really think that there was really someone hiding in the tree.
She also quickly realized the man before her was no ordinary cultivator. For him to have remained hidden until now meant he was far beyond her level or at least someone of his level.
Feng Chen's calm gaze swept over the group as he landed.
He didn't immediately answer. Instead, his eyes shifted to Wang Zhiqing, who was clutching her jade pendant tightly.
Her wide eyes reflected a mix of fear and hope.
"Please, sir, help us. If you save us, I will ensure you are handsomely rewarded." Wang Zhiqing said earnestly.
Unlike Captain Hua, Wang Zhiqing quickly assessed that Feng Chen wasn't an assassin or someone who might be trying to harm her. If he were, there would have been no reason for him to reveal himself—he could have simply waited for the monster to finish the job.
"Well, sure!" Feng Chen replied indifferently.
The Scarlet Horned Direwolf growled, its crimson eyes snapping toward Wang Zhiqing and Feng Chen. The beast crouched low, its qi flaring violently as it prepared to lunge.
"Miss, step back!" Captain Hua shouted, leaping forward to intercept the Direwolf's attack with her halberd.
But Feng Chen strode forward, his expression calm.
"You! Get back! It's dangerous!" Captain Hua warned sharply.
She didn't think Feng Chen could handle the Scarlet Horned Direwolf. It wasn't arrogance but practicality—she feared he underestimated the monster's power, and his death would only leave them in an even more perilous position.
"Let's make this quick," Feng Chen muttered, his voice low and cold.
In a blur of motion, he vanished from sight, reappearing above the Direwolf in an instant.
"Heavenly Emperor's Sword!"
A brilliant arc of energy swept through the air. With a single, precise strike, the monster's head was severed cleanly from its body.
Even the monster itself seemed unaware that it was already dead. THUD!
The massive corpse collapsed with a thud, shaking the ground beneath it.
The guards and Wang Zhiqing stared in stunned silence as Feng Chen casually flicked the blood from his sword before sheathing it.
"W-What th—how is this possible?" Captain Hua stammered.
The beast that had taken the lives of several of her guards and brought them to the brink of death had been slain with a single stroke.
Though shaken by the unbelievable turn of events, Captain Hua understood one thing—they were saved.
Captain Hua stepped forward and bowed deeply. "Thank you, senior! You saved our lives! We are forever in your debt."
Although she sensed that Feng Chen appeared younger than her, his strength convinced her that he was an old senior who preferred to keep a youthful appearance.
The young princess, though clearly shaken, straightened herself and stepped forward as well.
"Thank you! May I know your name, benefactor?" She asked, her voice carrying a blend of gratitude and curiosity.
Although she had seen many of the powerhouses in the capital, she was certain this man was not among them. With his strength and striking appearance, someone like him would be unforgettable.
And unlike Captain Hua, she could clearly see that Feng Chen was as young as he appeared. Otherwise, using technique or other methods would have failed before her Mystic Eyes.
"You're welcome. Now that you're safe, I'll take my leave." Feng Chen said. He had no intention of lingering longer than necessary and giving his name would only be inviting trouble for himself.
As for the hidden mastermind, Feng Chen didn't see them as a threat. If he was powerful enough to handle the Fifth Princess and her guards directly, he wouldn't have needed to use the Scarlet Horned Direwolf.
"P-Please wait!" Wang Zhiqing called out urgently as Feng Chen was leaving.
"I'm the Fifth Princess, Wang Zhiqing. May I ask a favor of you?" She said quickly, her tone both respectful and earnest.
Feng Chen paused, sighing inwardly as he turned back to her.
( F**k! ) Feng Chen thought. He had hoped to act like he wasn't aware of her identity and quietly slip away. But now, she'd left him no choice.
Feigning surprise, he clapped his hands lightly. "Oh! So you're the Fifth Princess. I wondered which noble family such a beautiful lady belonged to. What can I do for you, Your Highness?"
"B-Beautiful? H-Hardly—" Wang Zhiqing stammered, blushing furiously.
"Wang'er!" Captain Hua interjected, reminding her of the urgent matter at hand.
"Ah, yes!" Wang Zhiqing quickly recovered. "Can you escort us to the Royal Palace? My guards are injured and exhausted after the battle. We would be very grateful if you could protect us on our way to the Royal Palace. Of course, we will compensate you generously for your help."
Feng Chen hesitated for a moment before sighing. "Certainly! It would be my honor to help you."
