Chapter 276 Rest, and Trust in I, Yang Wei.
Bai Suzhen had already left, giving Yang Wei time alone with Mu Lin.
Yang Wei smiled at Mu Lin, who was still processing what she'd been told.
Feeling smug, Yang Wei folded his arms and smiled at her.
"Hmm?" he uttered, as though expecting something.
Mu Lin looked back at him, her attention caught by the sound he made. "Uh, what?"
Yang Wei shrugged, his arms still folded. "Oh, nothing, I'm just standing here... silent."
It was obvious he was waiting for something, and as much as Mu Lin wanted to act oblivious, she knew what it was.
She sighed heavily and conceded.
"Okay, fine. I guess I shouldn't have lost faith in your capabilities so easily."
She didn't realize it, but her cherry-colored lips were already puckered in a pout, and her eyes narrowed a bit, though her expression remained partly soft.
"Thank you, for everything... as always."
She felt a little embarrassed, but she tried to mask it with her usual smug and superior attitude.
"You said I shouldn't worry so much, that it's a waste of time and effort. I'll focus on thinking more positively..."
From looking to the side, her brown eyes gave Yang Wei an affectionate side-glance.
"Well, for you, I'll try at least."
The sincerity in her words made Yang Wei grin, and he immediately patted and stroked the top of her head. Mu Lin grumbled a bit, feeling like he was treating her like a child.
Yang Wei turned to leave, waving goodbye as he stepped out the door.
"You're okay now. Just rest well and don't worry too much about anything, you know, like we agreed. I'll be heading out first..."
His tone suggested he had a specific goal in mind.
To Mu Lin, it seemed like more than just finding Su Meirong; there was something else.
As she watched him leave, Mu Lin found herself speaking without thinking.
"Are you sure? I mean, you could sleep here... next to me."
Her cheeks burned red, unused to asking for romantic things, especially in such a submissive and polite way.
Yang Wei looked back at her, chuckling as he shook his head. "I wish I could, Lin'er, but I have something really important I have to do." Despite his smile, his tone was serious enough that Mu Lin didn't even consider convincing him to stay.
"Oh, well, what is it?" she asked.
Yang Wei simply replied, "Something I've been preparing for over a year now. I have to make sure I get it right before I head to the Land of the Supremes..." He faced forward again. "Something tells me it might be important."
Mu Lin didn't say a word.
She just watched him leave with his hands tucked behind his back.
She wasn't even sure where she was at the time, so she had no idea where Yang Wei was heading.
With a small smile and an even smaller sigh, Mu Lin reclined on her bed and stared at the ceiling with a calm expression. Her spirit wound wasn't hurting as much, allowing her to sleep more comfortably.
"That voice I heard when I went unconscious…"
Mu Lin couldn't stop thinking about it.
If anyone asked, she'd say she fell unconscious and entered a dreamlike state, finding herself in another world entirely. But to Mu Lin, it didn't feel like a dream. It felt as if her soul had transcended her current world to meet with this being.
"What did she say her name was again…"
Subconsciously, Mu Lin gripped the sheets around her, straining her mind to recall the name.
She closed her eyes and thought harder, and then the answer popped into her head. . .
The Record-Bearing Heavenly Mother.
That was the last thing she remembered before returning to reality.
"That can't be normal… it barely even felt like a dream, more like a… uhhh, whatever."
Mu Lin sighed heavily, loosening her grip on the sheets as she blinked slowly at the ceiling. Her hand moved to her spirit wound on her side, and she questioned herself.
"I'm honestly talking like I'm something special. I shouldn't focus too much on that."
She rolled to one side of the bed and closed her eyes.
"I'll just rest like Wei says and not worry about anything. Sigh…"
. . .
Meanwhile, Yang Wei had already exited the Osmanthus World and was heading out of the Grand Elder Hall with brisk, energetic steps.
A few servants were cleaning the building, and they saw Yang Wei walking past. While some bowed their heads and said. . .
"Greetings, Grand Elder!" or "Greetings, Fate Defying Elder!"
Others, a bit scared, simply bowed to both pay their respects and hide their faces.
Yang Wei stepped into the main hall, a place where he received visitors, held meetings with important individuals like elders, core disciples, and clan patriarchs.
Waiting at the exit was He Dongmei who held a scroll in her slender hands.
"Greetings, Senior Brother Yang," she said, bowing her head.
Yang Wei nodded. "Mei'er, how's everything going here?"
He Dongmei glanced around the empty hall. That was all she had to do for him to realize.
"Wait, you managed to speak with every single person who came to the main hall?"
Yang Wei's eyes widened in astonishment, making He Dongmei giggle as her cheeks turned a bright shade of pink.
"There had to be over hundreds of people scheduled to come here after things with Patriarch Bloodflame were settled. How did you clear it all up so easily?"
He had to ask, hoping to learn such a godly and time-efficient skill that might give him more free time.
He Dongmei adjusted her blue hair, soaking in the praise from her senior brother. She always worked hard to impress him, and this was probably the first time she'd genuinely surprised him.
"Well, I did have some help from Senior Sister Liu. Her seriousness and elegance made the clan patriarchs and aspiring disciples much more professional. They wouldn't want to appear incompetent in front of a woman like her. Even Patriarch Bloodflame helped sort out the more capable clans from the less capable ones. He says he's spent enough time in the Dragon Peak Mountain Range to know."
Yang Wei nodded discreetly. "Fair point."
He Dongmei gasped, "Oh, I forgot to ask!" Her sudden rise in pitch maintained Yang Wei's already invested attention. "How is Miss Lin doing now?"
After Mu Lin went unconscious, Yang Wei had told his women to return to the normal world while he stayed with Mu Lin to ensure she was recovering well. He wasn't clear on how long he stayed with her until she finally showed signs of life, but he managed to maintain his composure. He had consulted Li Meixiu, who advised sealing the spirit wound, which led him to Bai Suzhen.
When he asked Li Meixiu why she couldn't do it herself, she replied. . .
"There are certain things Elder Tortoise doesn't want me getting involved in."
Though the answer was completely vague, he didn't want to waste time questioning it given his concern for Mu Lin.
Yang Wei decided that Mu Lin should recover in the Osmanthus World, as its rich spiritual energy and slower timeframe would allow her more time to heal without losing much time in the process.
"She's doing fine, you don't need to worry about that," he assured He Dongmei.
She didn't need to check if he was telling the truth; she could see the hope in his eyes.
Hah, typical Senior Brother... he already has a solution.
Nodding energetically with her usual innocent smile, she said, "I'm happy she is!"
Yang Wei acknowledged her words with a slower, calmer nod.
He then gently brushed some of He Dongmei's bangs to the side. "You should go to the Osmanthus World and keep her company if everything's settled here. She'll be lonely there without me around."
He Dongmei raised her eyebrows slightly at this. "Is there something important you need to do?" She knew he wouldn't leave Mu Lin's side unless it was necessary.
Yang Wei responded first by patting her head. Then, with a slightly solemn tone, he said, "Yes, so I need you to take care of her for me."
He Dongmei nodded and hummed in agreement. Continue reading on empire
With that settled, Yang Wei didn't waste any time heading out of the Grand Elder Hall, and He Dongmei promptly headed further inside.
When Yang Wei stepped out, he found two women waiting for him. . . Sun Yurong and Huo Yue.
"Huh...?" he said, surprised.Nôv(el)B\\jnn
