Qin Wan’er’s assistant overheard and quickly pulled her aside. “Miss Wan’er, keep your voice down. Walls have ears, you know. Who knows what people will say if they hear you?”

The assistant was worried sick. This lady was unpredictable and often offended people without realizing it.

“I’m just telling the truth. If I take an extra take, everyone has something to say. But she can rest whenever she wants for no reason,” Qin Wan’er retorted. She was always the center of attention, but on set, it felt like everyone was giving her dirty looks. Filming wasn’t fun at all. She preferred attending events.

At events, she could wear beautiful clothes and strike a few poses. But here? In this heat, she had to wear heavy costumes and film under the scorching sun. She’d almost had a heatstroke a few times.

“Please, just bear with it for a few more days. Then you can wear pretty clothes for the promotions,” the assistant pleaded with a pained expression.

“Hmph, who’s afraid? Besides, look at her husband. I heard he’s just a doctor. How much money could he possibly make? No wonder she can’t act all high and mighty. I bet she can’t even hold her head up in the entertainment industry,” Qin Wan’er sneered. She couldn’t imagine herself ever marrying an ordinary person.

The assistant didn’t want to listen anymore. Trouble always came from loose lips, and she feared Qin Wan’er would stir up a scandal someday.

Gu Huanhuan, true to her reputation as a Best Actress, quickly got into character. She performed excellently and finished her scenes early.

When she returned to the hotel, Wen Chi called again.

Gu Huanhuan smiled sweetly. She knew he would worry and couldn’t help himself.

“Dr. Wen, the baby and I are doing great. I had a bowl of millet congee and some other things tonight. My appetite was pretty good,” Gu Huanhuan said, playfully.

“That’s good. Make sure you get plenty of rest. I’m not there with you, so take good care of yourself,” Wen Chi reminded her again and again.

“Okay, I’m a bit sleepy now. I think I’ll take a nap,” Gu Huanhuan agreed readily.

She was carrying their child…

Just thinking about it made her heart melt. She placed a hand gently on her abdomen and couldn’t help but smile.

She calculated that she had about four days left of filming. The upcoming promotion tour starting in Bin City wouldn’t take much time. After the promotion, she’d take a break and wait for the baby to be born.

She had everything planned out.

As expected, the shooting wrapped up quickly, just as Gu Huanhuan had hoped. The baby had been good, not causing any trouble, so the crew didn’t know about her pregnancy. Occasionally, she’d hear some snide remarks from Qin Wan’er, but she just smiled and brushed them off.

Since the director still had post-production work to do, the actors were allowed to go home early.

Before heading back, Gu Huanhuan didn’t tell Wen Chi. She sent her assistant ahead with her luggage and, seeing that it was only a little past 10 a.m., she decided to surprise Wen Chi by going to his hospital.

After some effort, she managed to get an appointment with Wen Chi. He was in the clinic today, and his appointments had long been booked online. She had to get an extra slot.

She had been too busy with filming to go for a proper prenatal checkup at the hospital.

Today was a perfect chance for a checkup and to surprise Wen Chi.

However, Gu Huanhuan soon regretted her decision. Since she had a late appointment, it was past noon when Wen Chi finally saw her. Thankfully, she had some milk and bread in her bag to stave off her hunger.
