Chapter 165 Guardian Angel
Chapter 165 Guardian Angel
Peter Parker’s Point of View
I rolled off my girlfriend as both of us tried to catch our breath. We just lay in silence and right before I went to sleep Sophia asked. “What do you want to do with the rest of your life?” My head recoiled into the pillow with how out of nowhere that question was as I sat up and looked at her. “What do you mean?” She rolled over as well looking me in the eyes.
“I mean, your Aunt is making enough money you don’t have to work as a cameraman. Are you happy with being just a superhero or do you want to do something else on top of that?” I hadn’t really thought about my future in a long time. Most of my life has just been me trying to keep my head above water while I tried to save as many people as possible… Every day we have less and less crime here, soon I might be able to take the weekends off and do something with that free time.n/ô/vel/b//jn dot c//om
“I haven’t really thought about it… When I was growing up I wanted to become a scientist and create things that would help out all of humanity. A small part of me still wants to do that but I’d be starting my career ten years behind other scientists now. It almost feels like it would be too late to start.” She rolled me over as she crawled on top of me.
Looking deep into my eyes she candidly spoke. “Peter. You can do whatever you put your mind to. If you want to be a scientist then be a scientist. If you want to be a superhero then be a superhero. If you want to be a scientist as a career path and run off to be Spiderman when a big crime happens then we can get through it together.”
She leaned down and kissed me before rolling off. “You should think about it more and we can start making plans for how to accomplish what you want when you decide. Until then goodnight.” I sat in silence for an hour thinking things through until I finally went to sleep. The next morning while we ate bowls of cereal I looked over at Sophia before saying. “Let’s do it. I quit out of college a few credits short of my doctorate but I think I have enough money to skip the process and apply for my doctorate directly through a thesis.”
Over the next few days, I buckled down and wrote my thesis on neurotech specifically mechanical technology to replace limbs. I had done most of the backbone for the research with Doctor Otto Octavius but had stopped because he became a supervillain. Even still it did take most of that time as I needed to refresh myself on a stagnated theory we were working with and supplement it with all the new information that came out in the past few years.
The original idea was to implement neurotechnology to help control prosthetics with the same biochemistry that the body would use to move the original missing body part. Otto branched off creating the arm rig to help with construction and it grew to him attempting to make a particle that could be used as a power source for all of New York, but things went wrong.
I had gotten so caught up in everything with him that I didn’t realize we hadn’t published our first set of work with the prosthetics and construction rigs. Because the work was almost completed it didn’t take too long to finish and it came to putting myself or Otto as the project's lead researcher. I would have put Doctor Octavius but I needed my doctorate.
It would have taken years for my thesis to be published unless we didn’t grease a few hands in the process. It all felt scummy to me but sometimes that’s what needed to be done. We decided to eat out as I got the news that my significant contribution to the biochemistry and bioengineering fields and was given dual doctorates in those fields.
As Aunt May, Sophia, and I eat at an outside restaurant I hear sirens coming from down the street and see an armored truck being chased by several police cars as two gunmen hang out the doors firing backward at the police. I look at Sophia and get out. “Sop-.” Before she cuts me off. “Go. I’ll cause a distraction.” She quickly stands up and fake trips pulling at the dinner tablecloth.
She loudly moans in fake pain drawing as much attention away from me as she can as I run to the edge of the patio we’re on and jump off, my clothes shifting mid-air to those of Spiderman. I swung away just as she abruptly stood up and spoke. “I’m fine, sorry about worrying you everyone… Can we get this food packed up in a to-go box please?”
It was another few days when she rolled off me right after we made love for the second time that day that she asked. “So Doctor Parker. Now that you have your doctorate, what are your plans now?” I wasn’t sure myself. Sure, I had already done most of the work to become a doctor, but it didn’t feel real. It felt… Too easy, like something should have happened, a snag in the plan, a large-scale invasion or something just going wrong.
It was like the universe had to see me suffer and I couldn’t be happy but… Somehow everything changed like a guardian angel was watching over me. My breath caught in my throat as I thought of the reason. It was my girlfriend. Every girlfriend I’ve had previously I had to hide the fact that I was Spiderman, unless they knew then it was a whole other set of problems.
With Sophia… It just felt effortless. I had never been with someone who was on my side before and wanted me to succeed. It’s crazy to think that way but it was completely true. My girlfriend was my biggest cheerleader and instead of forcing me to do something, she would make suggestions and then help me succeed in my plans.
I just couldn’t stop looking at her as I asked. “How did I get so lucky to get you as my girlfriend?” She smiled back at me before lazily saying. “Who cares? I’m just so glad we did end up together. My life… It’s pretty great right now.” I lean in kissing her as I agree with her. Who cares how it happened, I’m the happiest I’ve ever been.

I held a knife at Green Goblin’s neck. “Are you serious? Why today of all days do you decide to go in against Peter?” He looked up at me before saying. “You wo-.” I slit his throat before he can even finish saying I wouldn’t kill him. Really? I wouldn’t kill a villain who is also a business rival. Well, you could have fooled me. I thought for sure I’d kill Norman Ozborn if I got the chance… Which is why I did.
I sighed as I was getting sick of defending Peter. This is… The fifteenth time one of his villains has tried to smash into his home, revealing that he is for sure Spiderman. The paper-thin defense from JJJ is the only reason Peter could live a somewhat normal life still… Welp, I should probably go rob this dipshit’s home before they find out he’s dead… Maybe I’ll write a suicide note donating his money to charity… Specifically giving a large portion to his favorite charity F.E.A.S.T.
