Chapter 414 Suppressing Order
A little over three weeks later, William had absorbed all five Greater Fate Veins and the Superior Fate Vein, granting him the Fate Affinity while simultaneously changing the World for a second time.
The rare Fate Mages now found themselves just like those with the Karma Affinity, completely unable to use their Magic unless they were born a Manamatus. Thankfully, the number of Karma and Fate Mages were incredibly few across all of Efretta, so there was no mass hysteria or anything of the sort, yet.
William was no exception to the rule, also unable to use the Fate Element despite the System claiming he could use both. After a brief recalculation, the System stated that upgrading the Elements to SS-Rank or above would restore their functions.
In the meantime, the System did notify him that the two Elements were now visible in the Status Panel.
-Mythic:
--Fate: F (100PP to next rank)
--Karma: F (100PP to next rank)
--Order: S (250000PP to next rank)
While William was happy that the two Elements were Mythic-Rarity, he couldn't believe that absorbing all of the Veins had no effect on their Rank whatsoever. Now he would have to spend millions of Potential Points just for them to reach the Maximum Rank, and William wasn't entirely sure if he could handle that.
Wait, I have the Resist Fate, Karma, and Disorder Talents now! William realized suddenly. Not only did have resistance to the effects of the three Mythic Elements, but all of his Resistance Talents were also at X-Rank!
Fria and William's Companion Beasts were busy across the entire World, dealing with waves of Magical Beasts spawned by the Heavens. For the time being, William's preparations seemed to be enough to handle the Beast Tides by themselves.
Which means... let's upgrade some Talents! William smiled as he asked the System to upgrade the Order Element to the next Rank.
-250000 PP
He chose the Order Element first specifically for two reasons. For one, he had already upgraded the Order Element before and was familiar with its methods, so he would instantly be able to tell how much his Resistance Talents assisted the upgrade when dealing with a Mythic Element.
The second reason was because his Soul Strength had increased a lot since the last upgrade, reaching almost four hundred thousand points before his Curses on Juhi expired. With the combination of the Resistance Talents and his Soul Strength, the Order Affinity should be the easiest of the three to push to the maximum Rank.
Once he had pushed the Order Element as far as it could go, William could mostly be relaxed when dealing with the other two. According to the System, Karma required a strong body to resist, and Fate required a strong mind.
Between Soul Strength, Mental Strength, and Physical Strength, William had to guess that his soul and body were almost equal, while his mind was slightly weaker. Only the Fate Element should give him some trouble.
As expected, William sensed a slight uncomfortable situation within his own body, but the Order Element didn't show itself, nor did he feel his soul and body separating like before. He temporarily disabled the Disorder Resistance Talent, trying to get a feel for how much strength the Order Element had at this point.
Even without Disorder Resistance, William had more than double the amount of Soul Strength than he did for the S-Rank upgrade. His action wasn't risky at all.
He calmly closed his eyes and used his senses to feel the Order Element rushing through his body. His soul and body tried to split apart, but he was able to comfortably resist as expected. That said, the Order Element finally chose to say something.
"Are you toying with me?"
William frowned for a moment before realizing what the Order Element was getting at. Clearly it could tell that William had weakened his resistance against it, and it was probably offended.
If I'm going to make use of these Elements in the future, it's better not to get on their bad side. he thought.
"I wanted to talk to you, and you didn't want to come out before." William replied.
"There's nothing to talk about." the Order Element went silent.
Even after William tried to call out to it multiple times, it ignored him completely and receded back into the depths of William's body, to an unknown location that he didn't understand.
With the SS-Rank upgrade complete, William didn't stop there and spent half a million Points to push the Order Element to SSR. He didn't dare to disable the Disorder Resistance Talent this time, knowing for a fact that he would regret it if he did.
The Order Element that had receded was drawn back in an instant, but it left just as quickly. It didn't even have to struggle to know that William's protections against it had thoroughly improved, meaning its chances of killing him were slim to none.
William proceeded smoothly through the SSR-Rank upgrade, then immediately spent a million Potential Points to approach the final Rank.
Order, drawn back for a third time in a matter of hours, was completely stunned at this point. William had loosened multiple seals in one go, allowing it to roam his body almost fluidly. That said, even the X-Rank upgrade wasn't enough for Order to break free, and it could sense that the boy was still in the lower Realms.
"You haven't even Ascended yet, but you're able to suppress me even in this state..." Order commented.
William smirked, "I thought there was nothing to talk about."
"Then I will leave." Order began to draw its Mana back into William's body.
"No, wait." William said.
It paused, seemingly waiting for William to speak.
"Order, why have you and Chaos been trying to kill me?"
"You must be joking. How can you not know?" the Order Element scoffed at William's nonsensical question.
"I really don't. Tell me."
"Hmph. You're not ready yet." the Order Element continued pulling back its Mana.
This again? William complained. Not only was the System not telling William anything, but even the Order Element located within his body refused to talk. What was so serious about these questions, that they couldn't even get an answer?
It's probably another thing I shouldn't know about, lest I attract powerful enemies blah blah blah.
"Wait." William said again.
"No, I'm leaving this time." Order didn't pause at all.
"At least let me use your Mana this time!" William frowned.
"I won't disrupt you. Use what you must, but don't overdo it." Order replied before going silent.
William felt something within the Order Mana change, growing and intensifying as it tried to organize all the other Elements within his body. Even the System Panel changed subconsciously, organizing each of the Elements in their proper alphabetical order as they should have been all this time.
That was it, though. Only the Elements were changed, and not the remainder of the System Panel. It made William a bit confused, but he didn't ask why.
Instead, his face was brighter than a midday sun. Finally, I can fully use the Order Element!
William shot off tiny bits of Order Mana left and right, disassembling material into their component parts and even improving their structure slightly.n/ô/vel/b//in dot c//om
Even better, the Order Affinity's information showed up in his Status Panel.
