I Spread my Genes to Level Up in the Apocalypse

Chapter 226 Grandpa Now!

"I haven't done it yet."

Ray's gaze turned blank as he looked at the smiling faces of Vanessa, Yuna, and Evelyn. His surroundings were alive with cheer, but his raised brows betrayed a sense of disbelief.

"Is my conjecture really true?"

Without another word, his figure vanished from the spot, leaving the women stunned.

In the next instant, he reappeared in a large, simple bedroom. The space exuded a sense of calm with its minimalist furnishings—barely anything adorned the room except for the essentials, emphasizing a practical, uncluttered design.

On the bed lay two figures, cuddling close and lost in peaceful slumber. The soft smiles on their faces spoke of shared happiness and contentment.

Ray's sharp senses immediately honed in on a faint, burgeoning life force—a small, delicate presence slowly growing.

His heart quivered, and a wave of emotions surged within him.

"I have a grandkid now," the words slipped from his lips, unbidden yet filled with profound realization.

For a moment, he stood frozen, a bittersweet smile breaking across his face. "It feels like just yesterday when I had children... and now, grandchildren."

Ray's thoughts swirled as his body trembled with excitement, his emotions barely contained.

"Haha."

A hearty laugh bubbled from his lips, soft yet filled with joy—a sound only he could hear.

After a long while, he finally left the serene bedroom and returned to his throne room, where the women awaited him.

"Where were you, Ray?" Freya, who had joined the gathering at some point, asked, her expression puzzled as she regarded him.

Ray's lips curved into a warm smile. Without a word, he pulled her close, wrapping an arm around her waist as he guided her to sit beside him on the grand throne. Holding her in a tender embrace, he leaned in and whispered softly, "Freya, we've become grandpa and grandma now."

Freya's eyes widened in shock, her voice trembling slightly as she exclaimed, "Could it be?"

"That's right," Ray confirmed with a satisfied nod, his grin brimming with pride and contentment as he leaned back into the throne, holding her close.

"This is such a happy occasion! We should invite everyone and throw a grand celebration. What do you think?"

"Whatever my highness desires," Ray replied with a soft chuckle, his tone light but affectionate.

Her playful grin widened. "You'd better make it happen."

Ray chuckled again, a warm feeling blooming in his chest as he watched her excitement.

Time seemed to pass in the blink of an eye. Ray observed his children as they grew, stepping into their roles as fathers and mothers with pride. The sight filled him with a profound sense of satisfaction. Adding to his delight was the pleasant bonus of a noticeable boost in his stats—a reward for his expanding lineage.

Of course, Ray wasn't done spreading his genes. While his rate had slowed considerably compared to before, he was still seen as a force of nature—a monster in his own right.

Day by day, Ray's attributes continued to rise steadily. Yet, despite his constant growth, he began to sense a barrier—an intangible, elusive boundary that seemed just out of reach.

At first, it felt like a faint and invisible presence, but as his stats climbed even higher, the barrier began to take on a clearer, more defined form, as though it were gradually becoming part of reality itself.

"What's happening?"

The words echoed in his mind, laced with confusion as he tried to comprehend this peculiar phenomenon.

Then, his gaze shifted, and before him, a vivid scene unfolded.

A boy, battered and broken, crouched in the streets of Mars, shivering in the bitter cold. His frail frame was barely covered, his condition utterly miserable as he begged for scraps of mercy from the indifferent passersby.

Ray's eyes narrowed. "William, I really overestimated your capabilities," he muttered, shaking his head.

He didn't even need to lift a finger to orchestrate this downfall. No, William's plight was entirely of his own making—an outcome born from his unrelenting arrogance and overconfidence.

Ray stood still, momentarily stunned by the scene. The sheer magnitude of William's hubris, even in the face of ruin, had reached new heights, leaving Ray with a mixture of amazement and disdain.

It would have been fine if William had the strength to back up his arrogance, but, unfortunately, he lacked that capability entirely.

While his level-up system had indeed made him stronger, it was far from enough. In the end, he remained a weakling in comparison to the true powerhouses—especially on Mars, where some individuals could transform into demons.

Don't be fooled by how effortlessly Ray handled those Mar's beings; some of them stood at the very peak of the ordinary realm, only a step away from reaching celestial levels. For William to survive among such beings was nothing short of a miracle—and that, only because of the shadow inside him acting in his stead.

"It's time to end this guy," Ray muttered, tightening his fist.

As he prepared to move, he felt a strange resistance—a subtle force attempting to hinder his actions, as if something in the universe itself was trying to block him.n/ô/vel/b//jn dot c//om

"Have I hit the limit of what this universe can handle?"

The question lingered in Ray's mind. A pensive expression settled on his face as he mulled over the thought.

Even though this was his own dimension, it adhered to the rules of the greater universe. Every law of physics, every principle governing existence in the cosmos, was mirrored here. These rules were immutable, unchangeable—even for him.

As a creature born of this universe, Ray felt an intrinsic connection to it, an unbreakable tether linking him to the grand expanse of existence. No matter how powerful he became, this bond could not be severed.

"Status," he murmured, his voice steady.

In an instant, the familiar red panel materialized before him, glowing in its full brilliance, ready to deliver its report.

"As expected," Ray murmured, his gaze turning contemplative as he focused on his speed stat.

At first glance, it might seem unimpressive compared to his other attributes, but there was a crucial difference. Previously, his speed had been measured in terms of distance per hour. Now, it was calculated per second. The disparity was staggering.

"I'm restricted by the universe, huh?" he mused.

Ray knew he could achieve speeds far greater than the speed of light, venturing into realms of velocity unimaginable to most. Yet, despite his potential, his average speed was constrained, unable to surpass the universal constant.

The thought lingered for a moment before he shook his head. It didn't matter now.

Rising to his feet, his expression hardened. "It's time to make that boy disappear."

Ray had no interest in prolonging William's existence or unraveling his petty intrigues any longer. His patience had run dry, and his curiosity had been satisfied. Every detail about William and the wider humanity had been unearthed, leaving no reason to spare him.

"From the research, I found that nuclear energy couldn't create Mutation energy—it was just a scam. I didn't notice it previously, but nuclear bombs should have caused a nuclear winter, not this strange energy. Something, somewhere, is scheming against the entire human race."

He hadn't gotten any information from the Timeless Human he had captured because the man simply wouldn't wake up.

When Ray looked at the man with his True Eyes, he quickly discovered that the person was in a slumbering state.

"Oh, well. I can go without any information as well," he muttered.

Since he had made enough preparations, Ray no longer feared that Universal being.
