I Received System to Become Dragonborn

Chapter 669 Coming Home

When Erend exited the room, Aurdis was already waiting for him in the hallway with expression of curiosity and worry.

She stepped closer, her eyes scanning his face for any hint of the outcome.

"How did it go?" she asked, her voice gentle but tinged with anticipation.

Erend gave her a small nod. "The King gave his permission," he said. "Though... I could tell he wasn't entirely happy about it."

Aurdis sighed softly, a faint smile tugging at her lips. "It can't be helped. He just wants me to be safe."

"Yeah," Erend replied, forcing a reassuring smile. But his mind whispered doubts he didn't voice aloud.

"What if it's not just about her safety?"

The thought lingered in her mind — perhaps King Gulben didn't fully approve of their relationship. Maybe he didn't see Erend as someone worthy of Aurdis, a princess of the Elves Palace.

The idea made Erend's chest tighten with a mix of anxiety and frustration, but he shoved it aside. Now wasn't the time to dwell on such uncertainties.

"Let's get ready," he said instead, gesturing toward the hallway.

Aurdis nodded, and they parted ways to their respective rooms to prepare for the journey.

---

When Erend opened the door to his room, he was met with the sight of Eccar sprawled across the couch, arms resting lazily behind his head. His relaxed demeanor was in stark contrast to the tension Erend had been feeling.

"You're back," Eccar said, glancing over with a grin. "Guess what? I've decided I'm coming with you to your world."

Erend paused for a moment, considering his brother's words. It wasn't an unreasonable request, and truth be told, it might be nice to have Eccar there.

"Are you done with those two Elves girls?" Erend asked.

"Yeah. We've played a lot already."

After a brief moment of thought, he nodded. "Sure. I don't see why not."

Eccar's grin widened. "Good. I've been itching to see your family."

Erend couldn't help but smile faintly. "Just don't cause any trouble," he said.

Eccar gave a mock salute, his grin never fading. "No promises."

---

Meanwhile, Aurdis practically skipped down the corridor toward her room, her spirits high at the thought of returning to Erend's world and meet with Arty and his mom again.

She couldn't help but bounce slightly on her toes making her steps light and carefree. But as she turned the corner, she came to an abrupt halt.

Saeldir stood outside her door, his expression unusually tense. His hands fidgeted at his sides, and he seemed hesitant to meet her gaze.

"Saeldir?" Aurdis asked, her brow furrowing as her cheerful demeanor gave way to concern. "What is it?"

He looked up, his usually confident face now marked with uncertainty. "I, uh... I wanted to ask if it's alright if I come with you and Erend."

Aurdis blinked, momentarily caught off guard. "That's it?" she asked with incredulous tone.

"Yes," Saeldir replied, looking slightly sheepish.

"No sudden, unexpected and dangerous event?" she pressed, her earlier worry lingering.

"No," he assured her quickly. "Nothing like that."

Aurdis let out a relieved sigh, a hand coming to rest over her chest. "You nearly gave me a heart attack. For a moment, I thought we'd have to postpone the journey."

Saeldir offered a small, apologetic smile. "I'm sorry for startling you."

Aurdis shook her head, her stern expression softening. "It's fine. I don't see why you can't come along. But you'll have to clear it with Erend too."

"I will," Saeldir promised, stepping aside to let her enter her room.

Aurdis gave him a faint smile before disappearing inside, her excitement for the journey returning now that her fears had been eased.

After finishing his own preparations, Erend left his room and walked down the hallway toward the quarters where Adrien and Billy were staying. The two of them decided that they will also came to give Erend aid when they needed one. Even though Erend haven't ask them to come.

Erend arrived first at Adrien's room and knocked lightly before stepping inside. Adrien was seated by the window with a cup of tea cradled in his hands.

The captain looked out over the ethereal beauty of the Elven Palace with the golden light filtering through the trees casting a serene glow. He turned his head as Erend entered, offering a faint smile.

"Erend," Adrien greeted. "What's on your mind now?"

Erend stepped closer, a small grin tugging at his lips. "We're heading back home, sir," he said simply.

Adrien exhaled deeply, leaning back in his chair. "Finally," he muttered, a hint of relief in his tone. "As much as I admire the beauty of this place, I've been craving my home to meet my wive and daughter. And thankfully, nothing eventful had happened while we are here. At least for me and Billy."

Erend chuckled. "Yes. Thankfully. But you might be in for a shock when we get back. The world might feel mundane after all this."

Adrien raised an eyebrow. "I'll take mundane over a calamity, ancient monsters, and unpredictable Magic any day, man."

Erend nodded in agreement. "We'll be on our way soon. Get ready, captain."

"Will do. And Erend," Adrien called after him, "don't worry. Eveything is going to be alright."

Erend paused for a moment before replying, "Thanks, Captain."

Next, Erend made his way to Billy's room. The door was slightly ajar, and he could hear the faint sound of humming from inside.

Pushing it open gently, Erend found Billy sitting at a small table, meticulously cleaning his Starsteel sword.

Billy looked up, his face breaking into a grin. "Erend! What's up, now?"

"We're going home," Erend said, leaning casually against the doorframe.

Billy froze for a moment, his grin widening. "Really?" he asked.

"Really," Erend confirmed.

Billy let out a whoop of joy, setting his sword down and saiid. "Finally."

Erend smiled at his friend's enthusiasm.

Billy stood, slapping Erend on the back. "When do we leave?"

"Not long now," Erend replied. "Make sure you're ready."

Billy nodded. "You got it."

Erend smiled, appreciating the sentiment but feeling it unnecessary. "Get your stuff ready. We'll talk more later."

As he left Billy's room, Erend couldn't help but feel a growing sense of anticipation.

---

A few minutes later, they all gathered in the chamber that housed the portal. The air was heavy with anticipation, the faint hum of portal Magic surrounding them.

Each of them carried a simple pack, their belongings was simple.

Saeldir and Aurdis wore their traditional Elven attire. White pristine and flowing, with subtle golden embroidery that reflected their status. Their leather packs were simple yet elegant and of course, Magical.

Erend, Adrien, and Billy, in stark contrast, wore their human clothes and trousers, the same ones they had arrived here.

Eccar had opted for a sleeveless white Elven tunic paired with light trousers. His carefree smile remained fixed as he adjusted his pack, seemingly unbothered by the formality of the moment.

The portal shimmered before them, a swirling vortex of light and energy. Saeldir stepped forward, his hands raised as he began to chant the incantation that would activate the ancient gateway. The chamber vibrated faintly as the portal expanded, its colors deepening into a radiant, otherworldly glow.

Erend exchanged a glance with Aurdis, who offered him a reassuring smile. He nodded, taking a deep breath before gesturing for the others to follow.

"Alright, let's do this," he said, his voice steady despite the butterflies in his stomach.

One by one, they stepped into the portal. As they entered, a rush of sensations enveloped them. Weightlessness and a tingling buzz that ran through their bodies, then a fleeting sense of disorientation.

Moments later, the swirling lights faded, and they found themselves standing in a small, familiar room. This was Erend's room.

The transition was jarring—gone were the towering trees of the Elven Palace, replaced by the cozy confines of Erend's modest home.

Eccar let out a low whistle as he glanced around. "Well, this is... cozy," he said, grinning.

Adrien exhaled deeply, a mix of relief and nostalgia washing over him. "Feels good to be back," he said, dropping his pack onto the floor.

Billy stretched his arms above his head, taking a deep breath. "Man, I missed the smell of normal air."

Aurdis, meanwhile, looked around the room with curiosity, her expression softening as her eyes landed on a photo of Erend, his sister, and their mother sitting on a nearby shelf.

"It's lovely," she said with gentle voice.

Saeldir stepped forward, adjusting his pack. His gaze sweeping over the room. "So different from what I imagined."

Erend smiled faintly, a mix of pride and apprehension bubbling within him.

"Welcome to my world," he said.Nôv(el)B\\jnn

Adrien and Billy said their farewell. They need to visit their own home and familly now.

Meanwhile, Arty and Erend's mother who just cooking calmly coming out of the kitchen when they heard sudden murmur of people.

Adrien and Billy said greeted them but they immediately went to their home. Saying that they will be back later.

Arty and Erend's mother looking at the Aurdis and Saeldir. And one more man that they just heard from Erend.

"Hi!" Eccar said with a smile.
