Chapter 815 "Do you want to get me killed in my sleep"
Seraphina remained in that stunned position for a brief moment before a realization dawned upon her. Without hesitation, she dropped to her knees and said, “I thank the Lord for his generosity and promise not to let you down.” Her voice was filled with gratitude, fully aware of the immense expense tied to the resources she had requested—resources that were considered extravagant even by the standards of her previously affluent empire.
Though she understood that Aron’s empire was on the path to becoming one of the wealthiest in the Conclave, with wealth likely surpassing what they could practically use, she recognized the significance of his decision. He could have chosen a more self-serving path, hoarding all the benefits for himself and his empire. Instead, he had chosen to invest in her, and that thought humbled her deeply. She resolved to make sure that his generosity was not misplaced.
“Arise, we still have more things to discuss,” Aron said, a small smile crossing his face momentarly. He acknowledged her gratitude, appreciating that it came from a place of sincerity. It reassured him that she wasn’t someone who took what was given to her for granted. Had she displayed a sense of entitlement, Aron would have relegated their relationship to that of mere master and servant, closing off any possibility of a deeper connection.
“We’ll see if we can secure all the materials. If our attempts to use mana as an exchange medium prove insufficient, we’ll need to rely on some members of your faction to fill the gaps—at least until we find another alternative,” Aron said, outlining his contingency plan. He wanted to ensure there were no disruptions in acquiring the necessary resources, while simultaneously minimizing the involvement of her faction. Their participation risked attracting unwanted attention from those who might be monitoring them and piecing together their plans.
“I will inform them to be ready for orders from you, sir,” Seraphina replied, mentally noting his instructions as she waited for his next question.
“What are their connections with different empires or businesses, and what organizations are they leading or affiliated with? I want to see if there are areas where they can assist us,” Aron asked. n/ô/vel/b//jn dot c//om
“Due to our position within the Conclave, we deemed it beneath us to form connections with others since we have the means and resources to buy whatever we need from anyone. As for connections, you can consider that we have none,” Seraphina began. “Regarding business matters, although the direct members of my faction own businesses, they do not manage them personally. Instead, we typically rely on members of civilizations under our protection to handle such lowly tasks, allowing us to focus on more important matters...”
She continued providing more details, which caused a flicker of disappointment to cross Aron’s face. He realized that, due to their power and self-sufficiency, they had neglected to build relationships with other civilizations. This oversight reduced the scope of what he could leverage from her faction for his plans. However, he noted they weren’t entirely useless—just less impactful than he had initially anticipated.
Once she finished her explanations, Aron took a moment to gather his thoughts before saying, “Alright, that’s enough questions from me for today. You’ll stay with me until everything is resolved, and we head back to Earth. For now, I need you to take a jar of nanomachines from Nova and secretly hand it to a trusted member of your faction. Have all the currently available members of your faction ingest them. This will allow you to hold meetings in VR, away from prying eyes, and safeguard the confidentiality of our plans.
"The remaining nanomachines can be taken back to the Conclave. Once there, they’ll need to ensure they provide the required materials so that the nanomachines can replicate and increase their numbers. They should then spread to all the remaining members of your faction, including their subordinates and anyone working for them. This should be done covertly so that those in lower ranks remain unaware. This will allow your faction to establish a small VR network, enabling them to stay connected, monitor potential leaks among the lower ranks, and maintain secrecy until we can link their network nodes back to ours.
“For now, once the members present here ingest the nanomachines, use it to divide your faction into two groups: those you want and need by your side—order them to stay with you—and those who can return home and act as proxies when we require their involvement.”
Aron continued outlining the plan, tweaking it in real time to fit the current situation. It was evident that his aim was to create a network where he could control access to information, ensuring the best possible outcomes for his strategy while keeping it hidden from others.
“Yes, my lord,” Seraphina replied respectfully, bowing her head as she absorbed the details of his instructions.
“You can ask questions if you have them; there’s no need to hold back,” Aron said when he noticed the look on her face, one that clearly indicated she wanted to say something but was hesitating due to the urgency of carrying out his orders.
“I’m curious as to when we will be uniting our soul and mana threads?” she asked, her eyes carrying a faint but unmistakable hint of expectation.
Aron immediately froze, staring at her with a mix of confusion and disbelief as he tried to decipher her meaning. Before he could puzzle over it too long, Nova provided him with context: {She means, ‘When are we going to get married?’}
Aron nearly had a heart attack on the spot. He facepalmed, exhaling deeply in exasperation as his thoughts raced. Do you want to get me killed in my sleep?
Shaking his head, he looked at her and spoke in a calm but firm tone, hoping to eliminate any potential misunderstandings. “I don’t plan on marrying you or anyone else. That’s something you’re free to decide with someone of your choosing. I already have a wife whom I love very much, and I haven’t, and don’t, consider taking another wife. I have no intention of breaking my wife’s heart, and I don’t want to even entertain such thoughts.”
His tone carried finality, making it clear that this was a line he would not cross, both for his sake and for hers.
