Chapter 61 055 Secret Meeting (Part 2)

Bai Zhongqi looked at Academician Ding and smiled slightly, saying, "Academician Ding must find it strange that Iridium Star people all speak Chinese."

Academician Ding said in confusion, "Isn't it because the Chancellor taught them?"

Bai Zhongqi shook his head and said, "Of course not, because the Iridium Star language is identical to Chinese, with some minor differences in usage and vocabulary, and even the accent when speaking is highly similar.

I think there's a reason I was born in Country C; in this vast universe, the connection between Iridium Star and Country C is incredibly hard to believe, which unavoidably makes one wonder whether the people of Iridium Star and Country C are brothers from different corners of the universe that were lost in time."

Naturally, when coming to an unfamiliar star region to undertake new exploration and civilizational development, the United Empire also can't do without incorporating fresh blood.

Undoubtedly, with the Huaxia people resembling the Iridium Star race, sharing the same language, and even having many cultural similarities, integrating Huaxia people into the Iridium Star civilization to strengthen our interstellar civilization and attain more brilliant achievements is, for the United Empire, very beneficial without any harm."

Academician Ding was also shocked by this information. He hadn't expected such profound connections between the Iridium Star civilization and Country C. Even Bai Zhongqi himself didn't know if it was because he used Chinese while playing games that the Iridium Star people ended up using Chinese too.

Nevertheless, the closeness in language and culture does offer huge advantages in real political maneuvering.

Of course, Academician Ding was not entirely reassured. He gazed at the Imperial Chancellor, who was gradually assuming a gentle aura of authority, and said nervously, "According to Your Excellency, does Iridium Star intend to completely swallow up Country C and turn it into a part of the Iridium Star civilization?"

Bai Zhongqi admitted it frankly, but he also had the ability to defend his view without obstacles, explaining, "In the universe's interstellar civilizations, the method for distinguishing and recognizing is comprehensive but also quite singular, encompassing the level of scientific and technological development, the races of intelligent life, and cultural features such as values, among others.

In many respects, the Huaxia civilization of Country C and the Iridium Star civilization of the United Empire already share many commonalities. For example, biologically, everyone is a primate, and after you all undergo 'Genetic Advantage Liberation,' your lifespan and physique can reach the level of Iridium Star people, showing virtually no racial difference.

In terms of technology, once the people of Country C begin space exploration and civilization development using Iridium Star technology, there will be no difference between you and the United Empire's technological characteristics; you will have selected the same tech tree. As for values and such, I believe there are many similarities between the two cultures to begin with.

I can assure you that within the United Empire itself, there are a variety of cultural differences, and every Administrative Star could have its own customs and cultures. The Empire has no intention of changing Country C's existing cultural customs or ignoring its historical origins."

Bai Zhongqi spoke at length but still did not completely dispel Academician Ding's concerns.

Shaking his head, Academician Ding said, "Cooperation is one thing, but merging is quite another. Even if there are coincidences, we, the people of Country C, will not agree to lose our independence."

Bai Zhongqi was, of course, well aware of this point. Most likely, most of the countries on Earth would not agree to lose their independent status to become a part of the United Empire of Iridium Star. This was also the main reason why Bai Zhongqi had established the structure of the Star Alliance.

"Academician Ding, let's not be hasty in rejecting this. I respect the independent status and sovereignty of any Earth country. The Iridium Star civilization I advocate does not necessarily have to be made up of only the United Empire.

In fact, after careful consideration, I propose establishing a supra-state sovereignty entity called the Iridium-Earth Interstellar Cooperation Alliance, or Star Alliance for short.

In this political structure, Iridium Star, Country C, and other countries interested in cooperation can cede a portion of their sovereignty to Star Alliance, which will be governed at the highest level by the Star Alliance Council to coordinate broad-ranging interstellar cooperation, universe exploration, and civilization development.

The Star Alliance Council will be composed of delegates sent by member countries. On domestic policies, the Star Alliance will generally not interfere; member countries will retain their own national military, law enforcement institutions, domestic constitutions, and the right to conduct diplomatic activities with other states.

However, in specific interstellar cooperation affairs, member countries must fully comply with the policy guidelines of Star Alliance. Star Alliance will possess its own military force for the universe and will have economic and development departments coordinating member states' economies.

Member states of Star Alliance will also share significant scientific and technological advancements as well as the various benefits of universe exploration, including colonies, resources, and so forth."

Upon hearing this, Academician Ding's breathing became heavier. He did not need to ask Bai Zhongqi to guess that Iridium Star would hold a dominant position in this so-called supra-national entity. However, the vision painted by Bai Zhongqi was so grand and enticing that it was difficult to resist.

If the Star Alliance truly did not interfere with Country C's independent status and domestic affairs, it would not be so different from the current situation, except that in matters of the universe, Country C would follow Iridium Star's lead. Of course, on this matter, Country C would not be completely without voice, and would negotiate for its own interests.

Participating in the benefits of Star Alliance was also very tempting; the marvelous black technologies provided by Iridium Star could take Country C's productivity to the next level, greatly improving the lives of its 1.3 billion people.

The concept of a comprehensive well-off society would be trivial compared to this great productivity, as people in Country C would directly attain a standard of living surpassing that of developed countries.

Looking further into the future, if Country C truly engaged in interstellar exploration, it would gain endless cosmic resources and even vast living spaces, making Country C a bona fide interstellar nation.

At this point, Bai Zhongqi tipped the scales further in his favor, saying, "Member states of Star Alliance have the right to choose to withdraw from it, but of course, they will no longer be able to enjoy the benefits of Star Alliance, and sensitive technologies and resources will be subject to reclamation.

We are, in principle, welcoming any Earth nation to join Star Alliance to cooperate in universe affairs."

This statement gave Academician Ding a sense of urgency. At least currently, international competition continued to be the theme on Earth. If Country C did not join Star Alliance, other nations joining it would quickly establish a competitive advantage.

Star Alliance claimed it would not interfere in member states' domestic politics; therefore, non-member states might become the targets of Star Alliance's interference. Those countries might find themselves exploited or even bullied by Star Alliance.
