Chapter 443 Recruitment
'Phew…Calm down, Shye…you're qualified.'
After taking one deep breath to calm his unexpectedly nervous heart, Shye faced the first-ever person who was willing to entrust a part of his future to him, a mere rookie in his first year of adventuring.
"Hello, Reginald. To begin with, I want to express my gratitude for your willingness to join my newly established division. Although the rewards in the first few months may be modest compared to the more established divisions, I assure you that our division will grow stronger and rise through the ranks."
"Moreover, I promise that our reward system will fairly benefit everyone, regardless of their seniority within the division."
"However, I hope you're willing to be interviewed using this lesser orb of truth as I would like to keep our division free of rats and snakes."
Shye genuinely appreciated the decisiveness of the three in joining his newly established division.
However, despite his desire to thank them for their trust, he could not permit them to bypass the integrity interview, as doing so might compromise the division's mission of maintaining a rat and snake-free environment.
"I understand, division leader! I shall make a good example as your first-ever member!"
Hearing Reginald's reply, Shye was amused.
It seemed that the guy was sure he would be approved and had already considered himself a member of Shye's division.
A likable type of absolute confidence.
"Thank you. Please place the appropriate amount of blood on the orb."
This was the first test Shye planned.n/ô/vel/b//jn dot c//om
If an adventurer couldn't even take a small wound, then he/she might be a weak link that might cause the downfall of their division.
After all, if one couldn't even take a bit of pain, one would surely spill out the division's secrets when tortured, possibly even act as a spy if threatened with death by opposing divisions.
Although Shye wasn't sure if people killed each other in Valenzia City for mere scraps, it wouldn't hurt to be prepared.
Astonishingly, Reginald's bright and enthusiastic smile remained unwavering, even as he inflicted a deep wound on himself with his harvesting knife.
This scene made Shye inwardly nod in satisfaction.
He wasn't sure if the guy was talented or not.
However, if Reginald were at least worthy of his trust and would remain loyal and useful to him, he would spare no expense to groom him as Shye knew it might be difficult to accomplish his end goals alone.
He even hoped that a few would remain loyal and follow him should a time come when he would have to leave the guild behind.
The loyalty he was looking for might be a bit excessive and laughable in the eyes of others, however, Shye didn't care about their opinions.
If a few individuals met the loyalty criteria he sought, he would treat them far better than the regular members whose loyalty was confined to the guild.
…After a while, the lesser orb of truth finally turned purple, indicating it was ready for the integrity interview.

Time quickly passed but for Shye and his three applicants, it wasn't as Shye's questions were too direct.
Still, none of the three lied to him, and even if he asked questions like have you killed a person before, they didn't act innocent and told him the truth.
As a result, all three passed, and the Flashy Ravens Rising Division gained three new members: Reginald Bodan, a veteran diamond-ranked adventurer of six years; Dru Zotham, an emerald-ranked adventurer of five years recently promoted to the main branch; and Scarlett Nightsong, also an emerald-ranked adventurer recently promoted to the main branch.
It might be a lackluster lineup for now, but it will do.
Shye only planned to recruit twenty members this time, as handling fair benefits for more than that could prove challenging.
After his first round of recruitment, many laughed at him, yet, Shye paid them no attention—his goal crystal clear in his head.
Over the course of three days, Shye did nothing but recruit people in the lobby, allowing the overly enthusiastic Reginald to help him.
The two of them chatted casually, allowing both parties to learn more about each other.
He honestly liked and trusted the guy, hence, he appointed him as a temporary recruitment officer.
However, should Reginald decide to focus on his adventuring career in the future instead of taking care of the recruitment matters of the division, Shye would naturally support him.
Unfortunately, Shye was ultimately a rookie, and despite his illustrious reputation within Valenzia City, he was currently nothing but an unproven youngster whose prospects were merely brighter than most.
If he couldn't quickly rise to become a high-ranked adventurer and accomplish unprecedented feats in the region, then going all-in on his division would be in vain.
As a result, it took them a whole week before Shye could gather up the twenty people he initially planned to recruit.
He was satisfied, though, because all those who had the courage to join his division were sincere in placing their hopes in him, trusting both his capabilities and character.
In fact, there was even a guy named Robin who admitted his reason for joining was because he knew Shye's rise was inevitable, believing that it would be harder to join Shye's inner circle once he was soaring like a majestic dragon.
Hence, now was the best time to join.
He even went as far as to provoke those listening to the interview, saying they had eyes yet couldn't see the golden opportunity right in front of them, eliciting sneers of disdain from the prideful adventurers of the main branch.
This was already the big stage and even the smallest of fishes in this vast ocean were once dragons in their local ponds.
…Having no choice but to gather in the lobby for now, Shye called for a division meeting, dividing the twenty people into four parties—three parties with six members each and one party with only two members: himself and Reginald.
"Is the plan clear? Work together with your parties to complete two quests of appropriate difficulty. There's no need to take on anything beyond your current capabilities."
"For now, we need to secure a small division lounge so I can explain our rewards system. After completing the two quests, wait at the guild headquarters for the next meeting. Are there any questions?"
After summarizing his instructions and saying his closing remarks, Shye scanned his eyes sternly over the members of his division, who were utterly impressed by his natural charisma and confidence despite being a rookie in his first year of adventuring.
And since no one asked any questions, Shye nodded approvingly before speaking again.
"Good. Well then, Flashy Raven's Rising, move out!"
