Chapter 217: The Banquet of Gods and Heroes
Chapter 217: The Banquet of Gods and Heroes
Afterward, everything proceeded smoothly.
The negotiations were peaceful. Although a bit reluctant, Atropos, the eldest of the Fates, came to the Kingdom of Colchis from the Temple of Fate.
She wasn't the only one.
On that day, Queen Persephone of the Underworld also arrived.
In such circumstances, it was no surprise that Promise successfully obtained the Golden Fleece and, in doing so, altered the fates of many in one full sweep.
Medea remained the adorable little princess of Colchis.
She neither indirectly caused her father's death nor killed her own brothers.
Moreover, she joined the Argonauts as one of their own.
Jason, on the other hand, demonstrated his heroic qualities during the journey and earned the recognition of the gods through his own efforts.
It could be said that as long as he didn't act too outrageously now, even if he married and then found another like a certain god-king, Hera might turn a blind eye for the sake of Promise.
When Jason returned to his homeland, he was destined to ascend to the throne he had long dreamed of, reclaiming everything that rightfully belonged to him.
In this way, Promise fulfilled the oath he had made to Jason when they descended the mountain together.
And so, carrying the Golden Fleece high, they returned to the Argo in triumph.
The King of Colchis himself led an escort to see them off.
By the way, Medea went with them.
She insisted that she must return to Goddess Hecate's side and complete the studies she had been kicked out of by her goddess mentor.
Upon their return, Jason and the others immediately boasted to the Argonauts who had stayed behind on the ship.
They shared stories of their heroic deeds and recounted the entire adventure.
Unbeknownst to Promise, they even sneaked in tales about how he chose his goddess, embellishing the lively details, which they shared with Helen and the others.
As a result, Helen's mouth was curled up for a long time and she was very unhappy.
After all, she had no role in any of these things.
Still, when the Argo successfully returned, it would undoubtedly be Helen's greatest stage. By then, she was already, without question, the most beautiful woman in the mortal world. All the men of ancient Greece would go mad for her!
Unfortunately, those events were no longer tied to Promise.
After all....
A few days later...
The light of the campfire illuminated the night on the shore.
The heroes gathered together for one final banquet on the land of Colchis.
It was a grand feast, extraordinary in its own right.
What made it particularly unique was the guest list. In addition to the Argonauts, there were others present...
"Heracles, don't you think it's about time you moved on to your next destination?"
Hermes, with a skewer of roasted meat in hand, slung an arm around Heracles' shoulder.
As he spoke, he took a bite of his food, his eyes lighting up immediately.
"This is delicious! Who would've thought Promise had such culinary skills?"
"Of course," Heracles said with a proud smile, lifting his chin high.
"You might not know this, Hermes, but back when we were learning under Chiron-sensei, it was Promise's cooking skills that won us all over!"
So that's part of the reason why everyone's so fond of him?
Hermes gave Heracles an odd look.
It made sense, though.
As a transmigrator and mor so...modern-day foodie, how could Promise tolerate the simple and crude cooking methods of this world?
Especially at the beginning, when he saw Chiron taking the lead and even eating raw meat, he almost fainted from nausea, so he later spent time seeking out spices and herbs, satisfying his own cravings and inadvertently raising the culinary standards of those around him.n/ô/vel/b//jn dot c//om
"Really? Then why haven't I ever seen his cooking?"
The god of light, Apollo, joined the conversation with surprise, clearly intrigued.
"Has Athena ever stopped feeding him golden apples since he came down from the mountain?"
Hermes glanced at Apollo, who thought about it for a moment and realized it was true.
With a steady supply of golden apples, one of which could sustain someone for days..it was quite obvious Promise had little need to showcase his cooking.
Not to mention, even without golden apples, Pegasus always brought Promise the sweetest fruits, never leaving him hungry.
After all, this was the Age of Gods, where even the fruits tasted divine.
"Woo woo Water... Water!"
Persephone, fanning her mouth desperately, ran to her mother Demeter with teary eyes,
while throwing a pitiful look at Hades.
Demeter, indulgent as ever, handed her a cup of water.
Meanwhile, Artemis quietly tried to sneak closer to Promise but was promptly pulled back by
Athena.
At the same time, Athena, holding her own plate of food, glanced at it, falling silent for a
while.
Although she wasn't particularly interested in satisfying her appetite, she still felt a little
annoyed.
"I really didn't know..." Athena muttered to herself.
Then shook her head forcefully, trying to dispel the unnecessary thoughts swirling in her
mind.
"Teacher, you can't kick me out of the house this time, okay?"
Medea blinked her eyes, looking pitiful but with a cunning look hidden in her eyes as she
looked at the goddess Hecate.
This goddess, who was playing badly naturally didn't want to come, but Nyx had grabbed her
by the... throat of fate... or rather, her neck.
Like dragging an untamed wildcat, Nyx forcibly brought Hecate along.
"Come here, Helen, let me take a look," Zeus, the king of the gods, said, with what he thought
was a "gentle" smile.
Before his arrival, Helen's siblings, who had been sternly warned by Promise, stood
protectively in front of her.
"What do you want, oh great king of the gods?"
From the shadows emerged Queen Hera, her smile as warm as ice.
That smile sent a chill through Zeus's heart, and with a sheepish laugh, he reluctantly shifted
his gaze away from Helen.
Hera frowned slightly, then stepped forward, taking Helen's hand and leading her aside.
Thus, another devout follower was added to Hera's ranks, just like Io and that first ocean
goddess.
Truly delightful, truly delightful!
"Eat more, little sister. Eat him poor, that wretched guy. We're not mad anymore."
Lachesis, the second sister among the Fates, continuously fed her younger sister, all while badmouthing Promise in an attempt to cheer Clotho up.
Clotho, however, felt a bit helpless about it.
To be honest, she wasn't particularly upset.
If anything, watching Athena's subsequent reactions to Promise's choice left her more
concerned than anything else.
After all, she had always held Promise's fate in her hands.
So, Clotho knew everything.
The light of the campfire illuminated the night.
Heroes and gods alike drank the finest wine and feasted on freshly grilled delicacies whose
aroma filled the air.
Meanwhile, Orpheus and others played enchanting music that even drew the muses out to join
in the festivities.
"And? What do you think of this banquet? Does it meet your expectations, Goddess Hestia?"
Promise smiled as he addressed Hestia.
After all, just as she had hoped, he dedicated this banquet to her!
