Building A Business Empire From Scratch In Another World

Chapter 167 : Ambushed

A few hours ago, in the outer region of the Twilight Mountain Range, thousands of miles to the south of were both Felix and Nixie were.

A large group of adventurers, numbering in the hundreds, trekked through the huge and. ancient trees and majestic mountains.

Each member was outfitted in impressive gear, wielding an array of weapons that hinted at their formidable skills.

The air around them crackled with energy; even the weakest among them boasted the prowess of a Tier 4 High-Level Knight.

At the forefront of this determined band were two striking figures.

One was a tall, muscular young man, completely topless and adorned with bronze gauntlets, his physique sculpted like a warrior from legends past.

He carried two enormous double axes slung across his back.

Beside him stood a breathtaking beautiful girl with long flowing golden hair cascading down her back like a shimmering waterfall.

Clad in a sleek black and gold armor embellished with intricate patterns, she exuded both grace and strength, her long golden spear resting against her shoulder.

These two people are naturally Trinity and Brixton.

"Big sis," Brixton began, breaking the silence as they navigated through the dense foliage. "A few days ago, big bro sent us some resources. Have you seen them?"

Trinity nodded thoughtfully but didn't dwell on it for long. "Yeah, but I didn't pay much attention to it. How much did he send?"

Brixton scratched his head sheepishly and let out a nervous chuckle as he glanced at her sideways. "Well…"

"Damn! Why did big bro have to send so many? How am I going to explain this without getting scolded?" he muttered under his breath.

"Tell me how much he sent," Trinity demanded, narrowing her eyes suspiciously.

Leaning closer to Trinity's ear, Brixton whispered something that made her eyes widen in disbelief moments later.

"What!" she exclaimed softly before anger flickered across her face. "Is he crazy? Does he think just because he's rich he can spend resources like this?"

"I don't know why he did it," Brixton replied defensively. "But it's beneficial for us too, don't you think?"

"Oh really? So you are supporting him now" Trinity smirked playfully as she scrutinized him further.

Brixton recoiled, shaking his head vigorously. "No, no, no! That's not what I meant. Having so many resources is actually a blessing for us; I don't see anything wrong with it."

"Hmph!" Trinity scoffed, her frustration evident. "Sure, it helps us immensely, but that doesn't mean we should squander those resources! We can earn our own. I bet this guy has been throwing money around like confetti!"

"Well," Brixton muttered softly under his breath, "it's his money. He earned it himself, and it's not like you contributed."

"What did you say?" Trinity shot him a glare.

"Nothing! I was just saying you're right about how big bro spends so much," Brixton quickly backpedaled, waving his hands defensively.

"Hmph!" She turned her head away with a dismissive snort.

"Just wait until this mission is over; I'm going to have a serious talk with him," Trinity said, narrowing her eyes with a mischievous smirk.

Brixton's lips twitched slightly at her words. "Sigh... Big bro, why do you always have to do this?"

He looked at Trinity earnestly. "But big sis, I really miss the others, Big bro, Nixie, Zephyr, Gwendolyn, the kids... even Jarvis! It's been over three months since we last went home."n/o/vel/b//in dot c//om

Trinity's expression turned distant as she nodded slowly. "You're right. We've been so busy these past few months; we've experienced so much and seen countless things."

"Yeah," Brixton sighed heavily. "Time really flies."

He gazed up at the deep blue sky and continued wistfully, "It feels like just yesterday everything changed."

"Time does fly," Trinity agreed absently.

"Sometimes I wonder how different my life would be if I hadn't met big bro," Brixton mused. "I used to live in a mountain village so remote that we only visited towns once a month. We survived off what we grew and hunted in the nearby forests—our lives were simple but happy."

His face clouded with memories as he continued, "Until the slave caravans raided our village… They killed the old, weak and disabled people and took the rest of us to sell at the slave market. My entire village was burned down; my grandfather, who raised me—, as killed that day too. The remaining villagers and I were sold into slavery, and that's where I met big bro."

He shook his head solemnly. "Sometimes I wonder if it was luck or fate because without meeting him then… well… I wouldn't be here today."

"Big bro took me in and saved my life," he said earnestly. "He didn't just save me; he taught me so much."

Brixton turned to Trinity, a thoughtful expression on his face. "You know," he began, "I once asked Big Bro why he spent so much of his life savings to buy me from the slave market. He just smiled and said he wanted a little brother, a family. That's why he chose me."

He paused for a moment, allowing the weight of his words to settle. "At that time, I couldn't help but wonder why he didn't just pick someone else. But then he removed my slave seal, and it hit me: I was incredibly lucky to have met him."

"He did more than save my life; he shaped who I am today.

Sure, sometimes Big Bro can be tough or cold toward others, but it's only because he wants to protect us.

That's why I've promised myself that no matter what he does, I will never question him. If Big Bro says it, I'll do it, no hesitation." Brixton's honest smile radiated warmth as he spoke.

Trinity listened intently, her expression unreadable as she studied Brixton's sturdy frame. A flicker of complex emotions danced in her eyes.

"Big Bro always looks out for us," Brixton continued earnestly. "If we hadn't been in his life, I'm sure he would've achieved even greater things by now."

"He didn't just save your life; he saved all of us," Trinity chimed in softly. "He gave us new beginnings. Just like you, if I hadn't met Felix when I did… well, thinking about what could have happened sends chills down my spine." Her voice grew faint and pale at the memory.

"Do you know why I always criticize him when he spends money recklessly?" Trinity asked suddenly.

Before Brixton could respond, she pressed on with intensity. "Because I've felt the sting of falling from grace, I know what it's like to lose everything: money, status… even loved ones. The pain of losing everything overnight is excruciating."

Her eyes glistened with unshed tears as regret and remorse washed over her features.

She turned back to Brixton and hesitated for a moment before asking quietly, I ever shared my background with you right? Do you know how I ended up in the slave market, almost sold to a brothel?"

Brixton shook his head slowly; concern etched across his face as he gazed at her.

"Because before I was sold into slavery, I was the p..." she began, but before she could finish her words.

BOOOOOM!

An earth-shattering explosion erupted nearby as a gigantic sword plummeted from the sky, crashing right in the midst of the Morningstar Adventurer Team!

Deafening screams pierced the air as members of the Morningstar Adventurer Team were caught off guard, some were instantly killed on the spot, while others were sent sprawling by the shockwaves.

At the heart of their formation, a massive gaping ditch opened up, where an enormous broadsword was thrust into the earth, trembling violently and radiating chaotic energy.

"Ambush!" Trinity and Brixton shouted in unison.

In an instant, they vanished from their original positions, reappearing mere meters away from the colossal sword.

"Everyone regroup and stay alert!" Trinity commanded, her eyes flashing with icy determination as she scanned their surroundings.

Her expression was grim; Brixton mirrored her concern.

They had never anticipated such a sudden attack, and the loss of their members ignited a fierce anger within them.

"Captain! Vice Captain! What's happening?" Melian and Aegnor rushed to join Trinity and Brixton, taking in the devastation around them.

"We're under attack, that's what's happening," Brixton replied through clenched teeth.

"Enough chatter! We need to be on guard; they could strike at any moment," Trinity urged, waving her hand as she continued to survey the area with unwavering vigilance.

The remaining members of the Morningstar Adventurer Team stood ready for anything that might come next.

"Show yourselves!" Suddenly, Trinity turned sharply toward a dense cluster of trees and hills in the distance, her voice ringing out with authority.

"Clap! Clap! Clap! "

For several tense moments, silence hung in the air before a slow clap echoed ominously through the forest.

BOOOOOM!

The towering ancient trees trembled as nearby hills erupted violently, sending boulders and debris soaring into the sky like confetti at a chaotic celebration.

"Well, well, well! Captain Trinity, your strength is impressive, you sensed us even while we were cloaked by a Tier 8 Concealing Spell," boomed a hearty voice from within the shadows.

"It's you!" Trinity gasped softly as recognition dawned upon her face.
