Chapter 172 Four-Winged Angel, Hardest Battle Yet

The air in the [Double Experience Zone] crackled with energy as Alex and Alice stood before their towering adversaries: three angels whose radiant forms seemed to dominate the golden plains.

...

"Three-on-two," Alex muttered, gripping his daggers tightly.

His eyes flickered to Alice, standing just behind him with her bow drawn and her icy aura shimmering faintly.Nôv(el)B\\jnn

"We can't take them head-on, not like this. Stick close to me."

Alice nodded, her sharp gaze fixed on their enemies. "I'll cover you. Just make sure not to die."

"Not planning to." Alex smirked.

The angels wasted no time.

Celestiel raised her glowing bow, releasing a barrage of luminous arrows with [Radiant Volley], each projectile whistling through the air like a comet.

Alex dove to the side, dragging Alice with him as the arrows struck the ground, sending shockwaves rippling outward.

'I need a skill to be able to protect teammates,' he noted that at the side of his head.

"Spread out!" Alex barked, summoning his undead army with a wave of his hand.

Skeletal warriors and decayed knights clawed their way from the earth, their ghastly forms surrounding the angels.

Though they lacked the strength to deal substantial damage, they lunged at the divine beings, forcing them to react.

"Pitiful," Lumineth sneered, spinning his glowing spear in a graceful arc.

With [Spear Storm], radiant blades of energy erupted from his weapon, cutting through the undead like paper.

Aurumiel, the four-winged angel, stayed back, observing the battlefield with a cold, calculating gaze.

"Do not toy with them, Celestiel. End this quickly."

Celestiel nodded, drawing a single glowing arrow.

With [Blinding Shot], she fired, the projectile exploding in a flash of light.

Alex raised his arm to shield his eyes, but the blinding radiance made him stagger.

"Damn it!" he growled, blinking rapidly to clear his vision.

Alice fired an arrow of her own, infused with her [Sparkling Star Shot] skill.

It struck Celestiel's armor, and though it didn't do a lot of damage, it still froze a patch of her radiant breastplate. The angel hissed, turning her bow toward Alice.

"She's focusing on you!" Alex shouted.

He slashed his palm again, activating [Blood Art: Blood Blades].

The crimson blades streaked toward Celestiel, forcing her to dodge and momentarily abandon her target.

Alex's mana flared as he activated his new skill, [Electric Storm], all the while avoiding Lumineth's attacks.

Dark clouds gathered overhead, crackling with electricity.

A deafening boom echoed across the plains as bolts of lightning rained down, stunning Celestiel mid-air.

This skill had a 100% chance to stun, by the way.

Her wings faltered, and she plummeted to the ground, landing hard with a cry of pain.

"She's vulnerable!" Alex yelled, "Alice, take care of the spear guy, just for thirty seconds!"

He dashed forward, daggers in hand.

Half his undead minions swarmed the fallen angel, clawing and biting, while the other half aided Alice.

Though they were easily dispatched by her radiant energy, they bought Alex enough time to close the distance.

Celestiel raised her bow to block, but Alex's daggers, enhanced by [Bleeding Strike], tore through her defense.

He struck again and again, his relentless assault driving her HP bar lower.

[Celestiel HP: 67,000,000...]

Alice, standing a safe distance away, unleashed a hail of arrows, her [Ice Torrent] skill adding bursts of ice energy to each attack.

It hit every angel, thus freezing them in place for a few seconds, forced to watch their friend get attacked.

[Celestiel HP: 58,000,000...]

Lumineth, seeing his ally in trouble, forced himself out of the debuff, and leapt into action with [Shimmering Leap], closing the gap between him and Alex in an instant.

His spear lashed out in a deadly arc, forcing Alex to retreat.

"Not bad," Alex said, smirking as he backed away, using the dagger as a counter-measure to deflect the spear, "But you're a little late."

Celestiel staggered to her feet, glaring at Alex. "You insolent mortal!"

And at that moment...

"Enough games," Aurumiel intoned, his voice resonating with divine authority.

He finally moved, stepping forward with his massive golden blade glowing brightly.

With his [Golden Blade], he unleashed a devastating slash, a wave of radiant energy carving through the battlefield.

Alex barely dodged, the attack obliterating several of his undead summons in its path.

"Stay behind me, Alice!" Alex called, his voice strained.

He summoned a new wave of undead, directing them toward Aurumiel.

The golden angel didn't even flinch.

Raising his free hand, he activated [Heaven's Wrath], a column of divine light descending from the sky and annihilating everything in its radius.

BOOM!

Even Alex was hit a little.

-178,939!

And the damage was insane.

"Alright, that's a problem," Alex muttered, coughing out blood.

Alice loosed another arrow, this one targeting Lumineth.

The icy projectile struck his leg, slowing his movements.

"Clever," Lumineth said, smirking as he shattered the ice with a burst of energy.

Meanwhile, Alex focused on Celestiel, who had taken to the air again despite her lowered HP.

He activated [Fury of Thunder], calling down three consecutive lightning strikes.

The angel screamed as the electricity coursed through her, forcing her to land once more.

[Celestiel HP: 42,000,000...]

The battle raged on, with Alex and Alice working in tandem to exploit the angels' weaknesses.

Alex kept his undead minions swarming the battlefield, distracting the angels just enough to create openings.

Alice provided ranged support, her arrows chipping away at Celestiel's HP while keeping Lumineth at bay.

Aurumiel, however, proved to be a formidable opponent.

His [Sacred Shield] nullified most of their attacks, and his [Celestial Aura] steadily healed his allies over time.

"We need to deal with him last," Alice said, her voice tense, "Killing the other two will be easier..."

"Agreed," Alex replied.

He activated [Spirit Chains], stunning Aurumiel for a few precious seconds.

With the golden angel momentarily incapacitated, Alex unleashed [Electric Storm] once more, the lightning bolts striking all three angels and interrupting their coordinated attacks.

The angels regrouped, their radiant forms battered but unbroken.

Celestiel's bow glowed brightly as she prepared her ultimate skill, [Holy Rain], a barrage of divine arrows raining down from the sky.

Alex raised a hand, summoning [Stone Fortress] to shield himself and Alice.

The barrier absorbed most of the damage, but cracks began to form under the relentless assault.

"This is getting ridiculous..."

He activated [Blood Clones] using the blood from the previous attack, creating two identical versions of himself to confuse the angels.

The clone sprinted forward, weaving through the onslaught of attacks and drawing the attention of Lumineth and Aurumiel.

Alex on the other hand took his chance and charged at Celestiel.

Celestiel, aware of Alex's intent, flapped her glowing wings harder, propelling herself higher into the sky where she held a distinct advantage.

She nocked another arrow, aiming for his chest.

But Alex was faster. He leaped into the air, using the momentum of his daggers to close the gap. His grip found her ankle.

"Not so fast!" he growled, slashing viciously at her legs.

Ding!

[Bleed effect dealt, dealing 10% of target's HP!]

-8,500,000!

Celestiel let out a pained cry as the bleed effect took hold.

Her radiant light flickered, and Alex capitalized on her faltering strength.

He shifted his weight, pulling her downward and preventing her from gaining the height she needed to dominate the fight.

Celestiel twisted and struggled, releasing bursts of energy in desperate attempts to free herself, but Alex's determination didn't waver.

With a final surge of strength, Alex swung her down, slamming her into the ground. The impact sent a shockwave rippling outward.

"Celestiel's in trouble!" Lumineth shouted, gripping his spear tighter as he watched the female angel crash into the dirt.

"Then get to her, now!" Aurumiel bellowed. "Forget about the archer girl. She's no threat!" His wings flared as he shot toward Alex like a golden comet.

Alex expected Aurumiel's reaction.

He tightened his grip on his staff and turned to face the incoming angels.

Celestiel lay groaning beneath him, unable to recover quickly enough.

Alice stayed back, protected by Alex's undead, her bow at the ready but her expression tense.

"Let's see how you handle this!" Alex shouted, aiming his staff.

He unleashed [Arc of Divinity].

Fwish!

A shimmering crescent of energy tore through the air toward the approaching angels.

Lumineth raised his spear, trying to block the attack, but the sheer force drove him back, the energy slicing across his armor.

Aurumiel swung his gleaming longsword in an attempt to deflect it, but the spell's overwhelming power broke through. Read exclusive chapters at empire

"A maxed-out legendary divine spell?" Aurumiel muttered, disbelief clouding his golden eyes. "Just... who are you?!"

Alex didn't respond.

Instead, he turned his focus back to Celestiel, who writhed on the ground, trying to push herself upright.

He wasn't about to give her the chance.

[Demonic Spear], Alex thought, channeling his mana.

A fiery spear materialized above him, crackling with destructive energy.

With a fierce yell, Alex jumped and hurled it downward, directly at Celestiel.

The spear struck her chest, detonating in a massive explosion of molten power.

The ground quaked beneath the force of the impact, and flames consumed everything within a 500-meter radius.

Celestiel let out a final, anguished scream as her HP dropped to zero.

[Celestiel has been slain!]

Her body dissolved into radiant particles, leaving only her weapon and armor behind.
