477. Saving the Soldier Boy!

477. Saving the Soldier Boy!

Finding a missing World War II-era superhero in a foreign country was definitely no simple task. However, fortunately for Butcher, he had some connections locally.

The Frenchie had previously interacted with certain local factions, and Butcher had done the same. With their help, although the process wasn't necessarily easy, at least they didn't have to blindly rush around like headless chickens.

Originally, the local forces weren't willing to let Butcher and his team get what they wanted so easily. However, when Cindy casually waved her hand and crushed a truck into scrap metal using her telekinesis, their attitude softened significantly.

Even Butcher had to admit that sometimes, great power could make things much simpler. No wonder their years of efforts didn't even match what Alex had achieved in just a week.

This was perhaps the best kind of help that superpowers could offer. Butcher couldn't help but think: If he ever gained such power, would he be strong enough to take revenge on Homelander?

But now, in a foreign land, as the team leader, Butcher knew he couldn't let his mind wander. He had to focus on the task at hand.

Disguising themselves, the group drove to their destination.

However, as soon as they arrived, MM and the Frenchie began to grow uneasy.

"Fuck, this isn't a lab at all; it's a damn military base!" MM cursed softly, watching the military base approaching in the distance.

"Don't worry, brother, it's just a military base. Feels like robbing a convenience store," Butcher said flatly, driving the car.

Hearing this, MM rolled his eyes. "The clerk at a convenience store wouldn't be shooting at us with an AK47."

"I know," Butcher replied without looking back, casually pointing his thumb behind him. "That's why the Crow had them come along with us."

Following Butcher's direction, MM looked back at the group sitting in the vehicle. His expression was extremely complicated.

Having fought superhumans for half his life, MM never thought he would end up working with a group of superpowered individuals. It felt impossible.

But since these people were recommended by the Crow and were also victims of Vought, having suffered greatly in the Sage Grove Center, MM reluctantly accepted their presence.

Otherwise, Butcher and the others would never cooperate with these superpowered individuals. Even if they did, they would only use them and always think about how to deceive them.

Alex knew this too, so he didn't include the Lamplighter in the plan. Regardless of good or evil, the Lamplighter was the killer of Colonel Mallory's two grandsons.

Butcher's team had a deep hatred for the Lamplighter, and working together was absolutely out of the question.

Once they arrived at the destination, under the cover of darkness, Butcher and the others got out of the car.

"Hughie, you and the Frenchie stay in the car to back us up. The rest of you, follow me."

Butcher quickly gave the orders. Before they moved out, he sternly addressed the superpowered individuals.

"I know you all have all kinds of amazing abilities, but this isn't a game. If you don't follow orders, I'll have no hesitation in leaving you behind here. Your lives aren't my concern. Got it?"

"Uh, what Butcher means is, safety is the priority for this mission. We need to ensure everyone's safe and make it back in one piece," MM quickly stepped in with a smile, trying to smooth things over, noticing the silence from Cindy and the others.

Breaking into a military base wasn't an easy task, and MM had a daughter. He didn't want to be separated from her forever after tonight, so he had to rely on the superpowered individuals' help.

Butcher's harsh words before the mission had him worried. He was genuinely afraid that these superpowered individuals might act impulsively.

After a moment of silence, Cindy slowly nodded. MM's expression lightened a bit.

Under the cover of darkness, the group carefully approached the military base, not daring to make a sound, moving cautiously to avoid triggering any alarms.

After winding around for a while, Butcher led them to a stop just outside the base's perimeter fence.

Peering inside at the soldiers on duty and the distant buildings with scattered lights, Butcher whispered,

"To get in, we need to cause a bit of a commotion. You guys wait here, I'll go sabotage the power supply."

"No need to make it that complicated," Cindy said, pulling Butcher back as he was about to move. She gestured to the Electromagnetic Woman behind her. "Leave it to her."

The Electromagnetic Woman nodded slightly and walked to the front of the group, her eyes glowing with a faint golden light. A moment later, the electrical box erupted in a burst of flames, and the entire military base plunged into darkness.

"Oh, so that's what she meant by that," MM said, surprised, nodding in understanding.

Butcher, however, shrugged and shook his head, not saying anything. He quickly led the group forward, taking advantage of the chaos caused by the power outage.n/ô/vel/b//in dot c//om

With the momentary disruption, Shaker used his immense strength to tear apart the fence, leaving a gap large enough for an adult to pass through.

"Quick, get in, hurry!"

Butcher led the way, urging the group to get inside and hide, knowing that the soldiers would soon be on the lookout for them.

Searching for Soldier Boy in such a large military base was no easy task, but fortunately, Butcher's previous career as a special agent gave him a lot of useful experience.

"I guess that's where they're holding Soldier Boy," Butcher said confidently, pointing to a remote building that was heavily guarded.

"Now, the problem is, there's at least a squad of soldiers guarding that place. How do we get in?" MM frowned, asking.

Butcher simply shrugged and turned to Cindy. "What about you? Does anyone here have some impressive abilities? I'm all for it."

Since he had a group of superpowered individuals with him, Butcher couldn't be bothered to take action himself. In fact, he was hoping to delegate all the work to them. It'd be even better if these superpowered individuals could just engage the soldiers and wipe them all out.

Cindy didn't know what Butcher was thinking, but she knew she had to do something. After a brief pause, she turned and extended her hand toward the ammunition depot.

Holding her breath, Cindy took a deep inhale, then clenched her fist in the air. In an instant, the wall of the ammunition depot exploded with immense force.

The deafening explosion echoed through the quiet night, and nearly everyone in the military base heard the booming sound. Their first reaction was an enemy attack, followed by the realization that the armory had been hit.

All the soldiers guarding the base rushed toward the ammunition depot, including those guarding the building Butcher had pointed out.

"They'll figure it out soon enough after they can't find anyone. We've got less than ten minutes," Cindy said after thinking for a moment.

Butcher nodded in agreement. "Time is critical now. We need to move faster."

Most of the soldiers had rushed to the armory, leaving only three soldiers at the current position. While these three were armed, they posed little threat to Butcher and his team.

Jetstream hovered silently above one of the soldiers. Fortunately, the area was dark due to the power outage, or his movements would've made him an easy target.

Jetstream suddenly swooped down, knocking down the soldier in the middle. Hearing the noise, the other two soldiers quickly turned around, and Butcher and MM, who had been preparing, seized the opportunity to rush in from behind and subdue them.

"Quick, open the main door."

The group quickly ran to the door, only to find it made of a special metal with a magnetic card sensor on the outside. However, since the Electromagnetic Woman had cut the power, the sensor was completely disabled.

Seeing this, Shaker was eager to try, and Cindy raised her hand toward the door as well.

"Wait, wait! Are you crazy? Breaking the door open will attract everyone!" MM quickly stepped in front of Shaker, grabbing Cindy's hand and speaking up.

Cindy and Shaker exchanged a glance, silently acknowledging the situation.

"Step aside, I'll do it," Poison Dart Frog suddenly spoke up. He removed his mask and quickly approached the door lock.

"Ugh!"

A simple saliva wouldn't be enough to corrode such a thick door, so Poison Dart Frog used his signature ability. He opened his mouth wide, and a highly corrosive, unknown liquid poured out.

"Oh, shit."

MM covered his nose and turned his head away.

"I never thought I'd see a superpower like this in my life."

"Stop talking, and get moving."

Butcher nudged MM's shoulder, then lightly kicked open the corroded lock. He grabbed his flashlight and pistol and entered the building.

The room was very dim, with emergency lights completely out. The group had to rely on the flashlight to navigate.

Inside the dark room were various instruments and experimental materials, as well as many cages made of special glass.

MM approached one of the cages and discovered a very cute little mouse inside.

"What the hell is this?"

"Don't get too close. I can feel something like us flowing through its body," Cindy whispered.

What Cindy referred to as "something like us" was clearly not ordinary, and MM's pupils contracted as he slowly backed away. "They've already developed a serum for superpowered individuals and successfully tested it on animals?!"

"Too bad it's just a mouse. If I had to pick a superpowered animal, I'd prefer a dog," Butcher commented.

Hearing this, everyone's eyes turned to Butcher. Cindy and the others didn't know that Butcher actually had a dog, while MM was speechless that Butcher would make such a remark at this moment.

"What's wrong?"

Noticing the group's gaze and the quiet atmosphere, Butcher tilted his head.

"You guys never watched Paw Patrol?"
