Titles and levels suddenly appeared above people’s heads and then weird things began to happen, as if I was in a game. And then, I realize I was in a game.But…if my life is a game, I’m going to win it. My name’s Jaune Arc and I’m the Gamer. Collapse Male Protagonist, Game Elements, Weak to Strong, Level System, Fanfiction, The Gamer, RWBY This is a good novel. It's just not for me.People shouldn't be discouraged from reading it just because it's a fanfic of other works. To elaborateThe [Gamer] elements are simply the mechanics of the MC's abilities and has nothing else to do with the graphic novel that inspired it. The [RWBY] elements seem to be heavily inspired by the source material, but the author has expanded on that material a lot and in his own direction. And, except in a few cases early on, it's entirely possible to read this novel without knowing any of the source material. The author does a good job of world building, character development, and so on, that the novel is fairly well written and very good at standing on its own.However, despite my compliments, I'm afraid this novel is not for me. There's a certain heavy sense of tragedy in this novel. It tries to remain upbeat. It tries to present the MC as a fighter who will overcome the odds. But it really likes to shove his face in the dirt in ways I am not comfortable with.I haven't read the entire novel, and I don't know that I even want to, so I don't know how bad it will get. But it has pushed past the point of my comfort zone, and it seems to be on an downwards trend. Maybe, if I decided to finish this novel in the future, I'll come back and add to my thoughts here. From what I can remember it was a pretty good read... the ending though Spoilerwas kinda trash. It has a slight harem but Peerless White Emperor is humourous enough. Okay thanks, I will check it out, have you read Fatal Shot or Rise of Undead Legion Most multiverse novels are based on gaming system, so it is a "real" VR novel.Check "the oracle path" and "defiance of the fall"Both are slower novels, but I read both, even with there 750+ chapters released. The legendary mechanic? Most of the ve ones I've read har romance or harems so I'm not sure Rise of the Undead Legion is great.You can check my profile for other novels I’ve read. Overgeared has romance but I dont see the hate people have for romance so i still recommend. Its not romance focused so dont worry Does he level up other people too or is it only him that levels up? A creative writing forum for the most part, theres all kinds of stuff on there but this novel is really the magnum opus of the site, theres some pretty cool stuff there so i'd definitely check it out. Jaune is meant to be sort of like Jeanne, farm kid without any knowledge trying to be a hero. #panic#1st and 2nd chapters are repeated Is it good? Honestly yeah, this has to be one of, if not my favorite fanfictions since it takes the concepts of the source materials (RWBY and The Gamer) and takes them in a completely unique direction that I found particularly interesting can we read it without knowing rwby? What is rwby? Some anime I think It's Netflix anime Some youtubers 9 years ago made anime-like 3d cartoon then one of authors (main one) died and franchise go to publisher that continue it.It's story about 4 girls (mostly about ruby if i'm remember right) which first name letters make title. They go to hunter school and fight with dark monsters + some "bad humans on monster side" stuff. Each girl have unique powers and weapon, like ruby has gun-scythe.It was hype thing years ago. Even now some artists draw ruby or yellow girl. Thanks Pfft "yellow girl" that's funny asf somehow Yeah, I haven't watched RWBY either but still really enjoyed it, although if I am to be honest I did find myself on the rwby wiki on a couple of occasions to look at established appearances and a couple of other minor things, it was written earlier into rwby's running so theres a good amount of stuff that is said on the wiki but is not the case in the novel, I can however understand that it may be offputting feeling that you should check the wiki halfway through reading Never watched Rwby I only watched some scenes but otherwise I know the entire plot up to season 8 just from reading fanfics they just recently made it into an anime where it's actually 2d Oh this was the one gigguk was talking about ina recent vid
